for the LG VX-8300:The LG 8300 Is Really A Good Phone!
I wanted a phone first and goodies (camera and MP3) second. My objective with a cell phone is to have a phone that acts like.........well acts like a phone. The 8300 does that and soes that well. I don't have to repeat all of the positives everyone else has (look at any 4.0 or above rating and I second what everyone else has stated) -particularly the call quality and reception. I really couldn't care less about a camera ...

for the LG VX-8100:Very Good Phone In Its Early Stages
As soon as Verizon/LG get their act together and clean up this phone I have no doubt that it will eventually be a very good phone. I, unfortunately, don't have the time (and money) to waste waiting for this to happen. Since my wife is still a current Cingular month-to-month customer and I can do without a phone for a few months - we can wait. Perhaps I'll go back to the 8100 or even take a look ...
