for the Sanyo MM-8300:
Sanyo does NOT mean compact
Being a new Sprint customer, I decided to try out the best selling phone in my local store. I got stuck with a red Sanyo 8300 and right off the bat, I said to myself, "this is one bulky phone". In this day and age of compact phones that don't hold back on bells and whistles, this phone (8300) has the bells and whistles but it sure is BIG just like all the other Sanyo predecessors ...

Not bad, not bad at all
Pros: Very compact, excellent call quality, RF strength is surprising for a phone with an internal antenna (you just gotta hold the phone in a way where you don't touch the area where the antenna is and all is fine and dandy), 1+ megapixel cam, subpar speakerphone. I almost have to make sure this thing is charging in my car or at my office. ...

for the LG VX-6000:
Lots of features, lacks in holding onto calls
For one, I've had this phone for only 3 months and I had to swap it with a refurbished one 4 times already. The VZW reps in the SF Bay Area generally tell me that the VX6000 has been the most returned phone in their store line up. I agree with them since I never had so many calls dropped by a phone via VZW (and that's with a full set of reception bars!) Updated software ...
