for the BlackBerry Curve 8330:
Great PDA
I upgraded my Motorola Q to the 8330 on Bell mobility in the Toronto area network mainly. Pros-All the functionality of the 8830 & the multimedia features of the 8130 in one nice package. Great size/shape, decent media features (camera, media player etc), GPS (free) & GPS NAV (costs $), the software is not as intuitive as Windows Mobile but is still very good overall. Cons- Battery life is really short (needs constant charging) and volume is alot lower than my ...

for the BlackBerry Pearl 8130:
Good First Data Device
Decent starter into the world of Blackberrys/PDAs. Pros - Good signal strength, great software (especially compared to normal cell phone), easy to use, good data compression (save $$$) Cons - Keyboard is unlike any you have seen before (not a full QWERTY and not like a normal cell phone) and definately has a learning curve. Many extra features will cost you extra (and probably wont be disclosed by sales rep) I won the Pearl and after playing with it for a ...

for the Nokia 5185i:
Durable Starter Phone
Cheap little sturdy performer. I picked this up years ago from an auction site and it lasted pretty much forever. Decent signal on Fido's network in the Toronto area. Very durable.

for the Nokia 3360 / 3361:
Poor Performer
My first cellular phone was this old model. It had very poor volume and dropped calls constantly (which makes me wonder as Rogers claims to have the best coverage in the Toronto area). The most interesting thing about this phone was the customizable plates. But even years ago this was a poor performer.

for the Samsung SPH-A740 / PM-A740:
Decent Starter Phone
The 740 is a rather basic but totally usable starter phone. My experience is based on Bell's special Olympic edition so some of the features are different than the regular one. Signal was good around Toronto area, no problems with dropped calls. My only problem with this phone is I found my battery seemed to discharge too quickly (however we received this phone free from Bell secondhand so that might be partially to blame). I would also have liked ...

for the Motorola Q:
Basic PDA For Anyone
The phone is small, lightweight (even came with 2 different batteries to allow you to choose weight vs talk time), and above all they are very affordable (especially when compared to most other PDAs on the market). Very easy to use and compatible with a ton of applications (Windows Mobile 5 which currently has a lot more support than WM6). Since it is Windows based it is also very simple to setup with your existing email servers and sync ...
