for the Apple iPhone 4S:
By Far the Best Smart Phone
I have owned several Blackberrys and most recently a Droid X. I had an opportunity to get an iPhone 4S and went for it. I could not be happier. RIM seemed to produce an inordinate number of defective phones. Of the three models I owned, the only one that was defect-free was the Curve 8330. Both the Tour and Bold came with major problems with basic functions, faulty microphones, malfunctioning GPS, Malfunctioning Bluetooth, Speaker that detached on the Bold and ...

for the Motorola Droid X:
This aint your mama's toaster!
Having battled for nine months with a series of 9600 level Blackberrys from Verizon, I finally had had enough of defective equipment. Offered an opportunity to upgrade I chose the Droid X. Initially, I was pretty intimidated by it. None of it seemed particularly intuitive, at least coming from the world of keyboards, and following three years of Blackberrys. I stuck to the basics during the first two days, email set-up, VZnavigator, adding a few vanilla apps from the ...

for the BlackBerry Bold 9650:
Good phone, but some bugs
My current Bold is my second one. I got the first after a warranty claim on a Tour that was defective. The first Bold was brand new. Unfortunately, even brand new you can have problems, and that one had a major one. Callers reported that I sounded like I was talking through cotton wool or cardboard. A second level tech at Verizon called me seven times in a row. 4 of the seven calls had normal sound, three were ...

for the BlackBerry Curve 8330:
I can't remember what it was like before....
This is my first smart phone. I had never used a PDA before, although I am very conversant in computer technology, owning both Mac and Windows machines. I was a touch intimidated by it when I first received it, but soon began to discover just how intuitive the Blackberry interface is. I would disagree with a comment made in an earlier review that the internet service is poor. I have both the Blackberry and Opera browsers and both perform ...

for the LG VX-8300:
A very nice upgrade
This is the first LG phone I have owned. I have always had Motorolas, so the interface was a bit awkward for me initially. However, within a couple of minutes I found it was quite intuitive. Immediately I noticed the far better BlueTooth capability. It paired with my Motorola H500 earpiece instantaneously. Turning BlueTooth on and off was much easier than with the Motorola, and unlike Motorola it did not shut off at its own volition. It responds quite ...

for the Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood:
Very disappointing
I have had this phone since last August. It periodically acted weirdly, changing ring volume from max to silent without my taking any action. In fact, the phone was in my holster when it happened which should be impossible. It would also disconnect from the BlueTooth when I was driving. I would have to turn the phone off and restart it in order to get it to recognize the BlueTooth again. Doing that on the freeway while driving at ...
