in the Article: FCC Mulling 'Bill Shock' Warning System forum

This is the FCC making the requirement, not the President. I think this is a brilliant idea. It's a service that the cell carriers would roll out to alert people about over-use. Why would you be opposed to it? While people should be responsible for their own bill, so many end up running huge bills accidentally or because their kids use data. At least come up with a good argument against it other than finding something completely irrelavent to blame ...

Perfect way of putting it. Too few people appreciate their own local economy. While I'm all for saving money, I'll gladly pay a few more bucks to know I'm getting genuine service and helping out my local economy. I used to work for an indirect retailer and while I'm now with Best Buy Mobile, the local aspect is what I partially sell my location on (out particular Best Buy is in Minnesota, and Best Buy is a Mininesota-based corporation).

This is just it. People will just make a scene if they don't get what they want. I've been yelled at, accoused of being racist and plenty of absurd accusations have flown my way because of an ETF, a return policy or a phone that someone thought would work better. I'm always sure to go over the return policy, ETF and trial period before I have anyone physically sign a contract. Some people will always try and cheat the ...

MAn do I miss the 8300. I got the 8360 simply because of its bloodlines. I agree that it shouldn't be required to get data on that particular model (since it's the same as the Moto W755) but that's the way it goes. I say re-release the 8300!!

All carriers require a data plan on all smart phones. That's all there is to it. Why would you buy a smart phone-that's MADE to do web, email and apps- if you don't intend to use it as such? How many people with Wondows laptops don't connect to the Internet? Sure there are probably a lot, but generally everyone with a laptop that runs Windows will connect, so too will the folks with a Windows Mobile device.

Posts like this make me glad I work for multiple carriers. These forums are filled with fanboys of a single carrier that will make claims about price and a phone when something completely different is being argued. Also, grammar helps.

I agree. We've been promised 3G in the Duluth, MN market for quite a long time. After being told by my AT&T rep that they promised 3G on December 31st, they again pushed it back 45 days. I'm still a bit of a VZW fanboy but now I work for a retailer that offers Verizon, Sprint and AT&T. I try and remain unbias but the VZW 3G network where we're at exists and AT&T keeps postponing.

If you want a similar phone on the Sprint network go look into the HTC Hero or Samsung Moment. Both are Android phones and the Moment even slides into a QWERTY. Oh the joys of working for multiple carriers at Best Buy Mobile. ^_^

Re: Stop Comparing it; Its No iPhone
Oct 30, 2009, 4:33 PM
in the Motorola Droid forum

People need to compare and contrast. There's no point in defending the phone because no matter what happens, something will get compared to the iPhone. The main reason that people compare to the iPhone is because is's probably the most capable phone on the market and now with new phones coming out with similar features, it needs to be compared and contrasted.

I agree but there are still so many customers out there who don't even want a camera. Sure they're mostly all in their 90's but they have the midset that features mean the phone is hard to operate and are too stubborn to think otherwise. I think this is a great first phone for teens. It's pretty, takes pictures and slides.

Perfect example of that (minus the giving in): Chtismas Eve. Middle of the mall at my kiosk a man whom I've spoken with about billing issues on his plan shows up. Eerlier he was wondering about his $300+ bills each month. I'm assuming it was some sort of third party applications (like ThumbPlay or something) since nothing was showing up on his plan in the system I was looking in. He returned wanting to disconnect a line that ...

They probably haven't heard anything yet since the deal is still pending. Just wait it out, it's going to take time to transition the 5th largest network... Look at the Unicel buyout, that was approved months ago and it's still not finished.

But data charges can rack up pretty quick if not on a data plan (VCast, Mobile Web, etc.). When using the IM messages as text, the Select Plan gives you unlimited messaging without an extra application or monthly charge.

Why is it ridiculous? I got a call at my store as well from a rep just wondering if I had any questions and he gave me a dealer help-line for help in the future. I think it's a great idea. Their huge phone just dropped and they want to follow-up and get feedback. I dot the same in sales. It has nothing to do with "having nothing better to do" at all. You should erase yourself...

I've noticed it's a bit laggy. Maybe we have a bad model, but like the Storm pre-software update, it just lags for a second or so each time you try to enter a new screen. I've had the Krave at my store for a week or two now and nobody has shown much interest in it. I think it's mostly due to the price.

Well if it'll save you enough each month then the ETF will pay for itself. Other than that, no. I highly doubt you'll find a way out of the ETF if you're switching to T-Mobile.

It's the biggest phone on the planet right now, of course it's going to be hard to get your hands on. Your order was probably placed after hundreds of other orders and it's gotta be a first come first serve plan with these phones. I'm sure you can always cancel your order if you wanted. Maybe the Storm isn't even the phopne for you...

Re: It's about commission...
Nov 23, 2008, 6:36 PM
in the Verizon forum

Exactly. The phone's price is knocked WAY down when service is attached because we make the money on the calling/data plan. When buying full retail- in the case of our store- we mark up the phone $50, so in any retail phone, that's how much we make.

Re: Thought you knew the price for the storm?
Nov 23, 2008, 12:47 PM

Same with our Premium Retailer. Some of our phones are a bit cheaper than the corporate store and the rest are the same price. We do have a policy that we can only offer a $50 (not $100) New Every Two credit on the Storm. That ended up being a problem yesterday for a customer so he didn't bite although I'm pretty sure I had the last one in town. Someone else ended up getting it on their upgrade ...

Everyone pays for convenience, it's the way of the world. You can change your oil for very cheap or pay someone near $30 to do it for you (I am the master of analogies on this forum). ESNs can be changed for free by consumers in three different ways. Same with phone book transfers. It's easy to do it yourself but easier to pay someone else.

I can't stand the free mentality. Especially when I hear: "I've paid my bills on time every month, why can't I get a free phone?" "I get a free car charger and case right?" "What do I get for free?" -Would you call Dish Network and ask them to lower your rate or add more channels for free since you pay your bill? -Would you tell your car dealer that you want heated seats and XM Radio for free with purchase and expect ...

I suppose when it comes down to the last dozen or so customers left with Nextel, it'll seem pretty rad. Also, wat much service lost during/immediately following 9/11? Considering that only two buildings in New York were attacked, I doubt much cell service was knocked out unless the only towers in the area were atop the Twin Towers. Also, learn your movie quotes...

I really dig my LG. Where I live I get excellent signal but in weaker signal areas I think Motorola shines through. If you want touch-screen, check out the Moto Krave. If you just want something with features but not big on price, look into the w755 by Moto as well. My mom just went from an old Samsung to the w755 and she's in a weak signal area and it does a lot better for her. On the LG ...

I realize that some phones just don't work out for people. Though I try my best to advocate which phone will work best for everyone. Sometimes I use the WFG tp push sales that day. Say someone wants the Date but pay day is in a week. Get the u340 'til then to test out the network and then get the Dare after pay day. Gets rid of, "I'll come back in a week" so they can just ...
