Re: Kind of vague review. Left with Questions.

OK, I have had this phone since it came out. The applications I have used work great - XM Radio streamed flawlessly, the web is very fast (I have 3G), and Cellular Video looked fine (I like that the left soft key immediately puts you in landscape mode while viewing any video or media). I live in a 3G coverage area and have not had one single issue with reception or picking up 3G signals. I ...

Yeah, the delay is very minimal - very fast when snapping a picture - not like most digital cameras/phones.. I took some on New Years Eve in a dark bar/restaurant, using the flash - they actually came out pretty good! Better camera than on most phones I've used before.

Browser/Speed?

One line in their review that I found really interesting: One thing of note, the EV-DO radio did not necessarily make for super snappy browsing. In side-by-side tests, the iPhone, running on AT&T's EDGE network, often loaded pages faster. Has anyone used both devices and noticed such a difference?

No, you would not be able to take advantage of any carrier-specific services with an unlocked phone. Yes, you can change the messages ringtone, but you are limited to the pre-loaded tones that the phone comes with (can't download your own). However, these message tones are all pretty good. Unfortunately, you cannot use a custom ringtone that is larger than 300k. I download all of my own, and found this out.. However, most mp3 ...

Hey, does anyone know how to change the "AT&T" that is alwaus present on the home screen? Usually there is a Greeting or Display option in the Settings to modify this, but I can't seem to find a way??

Improvement, but still too Verizon-ish..

I'm not an iPhone user or lover, but since these will inevitably be compared to it, and promoted as the "iPhone Killer" (what a Verizon rep said to me the other day), I have to say, these are no iPhones. Just because you add a touch-screen to a phone, doesn't make it an "iPhone Killer". I think we will see every manufacturer start to come out with integrated touch-screens now that the technology has been developed (evolutionary, ...

Best AT&T Smartphone??
Aug 25, 2007, 9:12 PM
in the BlackBerry Curve 8300 forum

I may be switching to AT&T soon for my new job, and need to get a smartphone for email/work purposes. However, I want all the features I like with Sprint (Sprint TV, ringer, music downloads, etc. - I think they have a version of MobiTV, and Video downloads). Does anyone know what the best phone is that AT&T offers? I know they will be rolling out 3G coverage here within the next couple months, so I ...

I think the brownish-copper color is awful! I like the Sprint color - anyone know what color AT&T will be getting?

Sprint V9M - August 19th launch date..

in the Article: Preview: Moto RAZR2 Series forum

OK. After pouring over all of these forums for a release date for the Sprint version, I went to the Sprint website, logged in, and emailed customer care about the new RAZR2. I said I was very interested in upgrading my phone soon, or I was considering switching to AT&T. I just got the following response: Dear Xxxxx, Thank you for your reply. Yes, we are in the process of launching Motorola V9M on August 19, 2007. Thank you for emailing us. Have ...

V9M - Music Player, Task Manager?
Jul 27, 2007, 7:19 PM
in the Article: Preview: Moto RAZR2 Series forum

As the article states: The music player is the same as on the MAXX Ve, so it does not remember where you left off playing if you've exited the player, and you cannot do any tasks in the background, so you have to exit the player to do anything other than answer a phone call. I am assuming this is typical of a Verizon phone/UI? Most of the new Sprint phones have a Task/Background Manager built-in now ...

Re: V8, V9, and crippled, sucky V9m Specs

in the Motorola RAZR2 V9 / V9x forum

I worked for Sprint years ago, and I asked one of the old techs I used to work with about the specs. He "speculates" that the processor speed may be lower on the V9M only because it is sufficient on that model since it doesnt need to support the heavy P to P video processing power, and in part to help with battery life since the phone is also 3G. Time will tell (until you get each ...

Yeah, another idiot who claims he is defending the iPhone (and works for AT&T) is also spewing their mis-guided (read = one-sided) BS on the whole CDMA vs. GSM deal: "Ill start with what that sprint 2007 guy said about at&t. at&t is the only provider that operates on the 3g network. It is the most advanced network out now, and no, spring NEVER had 3g long before at&t. Sprint is far behind in technology compared to at&t. Sprint is ...

Sprint does not use minutes for web use! They haven't billed like that since before they rolled out 3G (years ago). There is a casual (per k) rate for dtat transfer if you have an old plan without Vision built-in or added. Other than that, most of the rate plans with the data packs give you unlimited data/web use.

Re: $62,000 iPhone on eBay!!

I am in Rochester, NY, and I drove by an AT&T store at about 6:30pm with about 15 people outside. On my way back, around 7:30pm, there were maybe one or two cars in the lot, but that was it. Sign says they have the phones and are open 'til midnight - I should go buy one and post it on eBay - maybe list it as a Limited Edition or something, so stupit people will flock ...

Amen. It seems like there is a lot of Sprint bashing on these posts, but you have to give credit where credit is due. Not to mention better UI's and multi-media offerings - I have always been able to download my own ringers, mp3's etc. I have friends with Verizon who can't do anything close to what I can do (unless they pay a steep price for the VW content)... I'm sure this post will ...

in the Article: Samsung Brings Ultra Music to Sprint as UpStage forum

So many people who post on here will take one look and try to pick it apart and just focus on the negatives (why so slim, why srpint, why not gsm, why is it black, why cant it be free, etc).. I have to say, being a Sprint customer for almost 10 years(and 5 of those as an employee), I have used almost every phone Sprint has offered, and still prefer Samsung software/phones. I recently bought a ...
