Texting phone

in the Verizon forum

I am coming to Verizon at the end of this month and need a phone that is good for texting. I prefer a real qwerty keyboard, a la a slider but am open to your ideas. This will be a temporary phone as I will be getting the next iPhone. So thank you for your help. FINALLY coming to the big red V! :D

If I wanted a smart phone, buying an unlocked phone would help me avoid automatic data charges if I didn't want to have it. IF, IF, IF I were to stay with AT&T. Also found out my ETF is $125, which unfortunately I don't have due to my wife being out of work for 6+ months and me being a firefighter who doesn't make a whole bunch when there is 2 kids. Did I answer your question alright?

What I have just recently learned...If I were to somehow stay with at&t, I'd have to buy an unlocked phone, and those can get expensive. Saw a phone in the Verizon store, the cosmos touch. Know anything about that phone? I noticed it got a 4.4 here. Thank you.

What's the best texting phone

Brand new to the Verizon side as I am currently an AT&T customer but not for long. Here's my situation and needs. Wife and I will share minutes but need good basic phones that are known for having good reception as this will be our long distance. Would like full qwerty keyboard for texting. Pretty simple needs I know but that's about it. Don't need internet and no data plans need apply. Thanks for your ideas. :D Glad ...

Standard $99 for regular 3G 8gb iPhones. No special there. The real deal is in the plan. They came up with the plan, not me. The kicker is the extra 100 minutes per line each month. SWEET! I also get 15% off the regulat $50 plan, in a sense knocking out those pesky fees that they say they "have" to charge. It's a sweet deal. I see refurbs on sale at att.com all the time. Talked with ...

UPDATE>>> Here's the deal. 2 iPhone 8gb 3G (not 3GS), 450 min/month +100 bonus minutes per month per line for 49.99. Total 650 min./month. We currently have a 700 min. plan and are paying $80/month incl. fees. We will get a 15% discount on the main line basically taking care of the fees. Total peer month, about $110-115/month. Good deal or no? BTW, I'm thinking of coughing up another C note and getting the 16GB 3GS. What do you all think? ...

I really do appreciate the help. I am currently waiting on a call back from AT&T. They are offering upgrades more than a month early and seem eager to work with me. Thanks a lot. It really does help me. Cheers!

Look buttlick, I didn't know I had $200+ in ETF's, so now I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I'm simply asking a question should I have to stay with AT&T. I didn't want to bore people with details. Sorry, my bad. Fact of the matter is it's still a fluid situation with either carrrier a possibility. As far as the redneck thing goes, I'm going to let that go because your condescending ass doesn't know any different. ...

Question..
Feb 24, 2010, 6:38 PM
in the AT&T forum

I'm needing to upgrade 2 phones but don't want or need data on either line. I'm a firefighter so a nice, rugged phone for me and one with a good camera for my wife. Battery life and reception are key points for both. The Tundra looks like my only option but what say you much smarter people than I? What are our best options. Thanks and God bless.

I'd like to ask the age old question as I've searched the archives and didn't see exactly what I'm looking for, a basic phone for my wife. One without a data plan. I've found the W766 and the LG8360. Am I missing any others? I myself am going with the Rock as I am a firefighter and this one seems like the best option with the best reviews. But I ask in all humility, what say you much smarter ...

UPDATE...UPDATE... Got a flyer in the mail today about saving me some money on my monthly rate. I guess they saw us going over a couple of months. Thanks wife! :D So I call just to see what they have. So I have to repeat my story again which I gladly did. I was sent to the "Retention" dept. because I wasn't sure I even wanted to renew my contract next year which I respectfully acknowledged regardless of what ...

I appreciate it very much. I suppose it's possible that I forgot but I realy don't think so. Or maybe that I didn't hear them. But the fact is as it stands now, I'm under contract until 4-5-09. When that day comes, we'll see what happens. I like ATT and hope to stay but we'll see.

One more thing, how do I go from being a month to month customer and then all of the sudden being under a new two year agreement? Answer me that.

Voice mail on my V3xx

My inbox says I have 2 voice mails. However, when I call to retrieve them, it says I have no messages. Can anyone help a brother out? BTW, I called ATT and they said that they reset it for me. Of course that didn't work. So I'd appreciate some help. Thanks.

Like I said, it just wasn't a thought at the time. It will be now but is it right for them to automatically set me up on a new two year and not mention one word about it?

Didn't even cross my mind. I was given no indication that getting my V3xx's would tie me up for 2 more years. And no, I didn't read the Customer contract. Something I forgot to mention, to be totally fair in this thing. They did offer me a BB 8120 for $249. They said it was $150 off. While the attempt at an offer was appreciated, it was no where near what I could pay. I thought that was about ...

I have to say my experience is two sided. The ability to make a call from places where I previously could not is better. However, CS sucks big time. last year when my contract was up, I upgraded my phone. At NO time did i even for a moment think I was signing a new 2 year agreement. Thinking I was a month to month, I called wanting more minutes and a free phone. I can get a discount ...

Briefly, in a word, has service deteriorated since ATT has taken over, yes. I've been lied to, disrespected and somehow signed up for a new two year contract without my knowledge. I won't go into complete details. It does revolve around a phone I got just over a year ago. I thought I was just getting an upgrade on the phone. But guess what? I signed a new two year agreement in doing so. Seems they neglected to tell ...

Not much I suppose. Keep track of things, appointments and the like. Small office things, maybe spread sheets, do they do those things? Internet, GPS preferably. Does that help?

Expand my horizons then, please. What else do I need to be looking at? That's available. The new Nokia N series aren't available yet and would be above what I can spend. I suppose a beginner to intermediate PDA, nothing advanced.

It's been my experience in the looking around that I've been doing recently that the better prices are on the web. Case in point, look up any phone, just about, on this web site, click on the buy tab and see what you find. Take that into any brick and mortar and see what it gets you.

I sincerely hope the authorities have been contacted. I'm sure you shouldn't have any trouble handing over personal info like name and address. These people are stupid enough to give it to you and then commit a crime. I hate to say it, but yes, they are stupid, ignorant white trash people. Prosecute to the fullest.

Currently a resident of the dark side wanting to come into the light! Read currently with ATT. Anyway, looking for a good phone, pda's are OK but not totally necessary or just a basic, that supports bluetooth and a camera would be nice.
