Also - Read the press release and get a little more well 'versed' in what the phones actually do  - 11 band equalizer, RDS Radio, 3.5mm jack (wish more OEMs would listen to that), A2DP (Apple? Hello - are you listening?) - None of these sound like anything I had in 2005......

I hope you know, in terms of sheer volume, iPhone is in no way the leader at AT&T and never has been. I'm not sure where you're getting your numbers but my spreadsheets don't lie. There's no doubt that the 3G version will be successful (however, not the volume leader). I think you should probably stop pretending that steve is winking lustfully at you during your day dreams. He's got you believing everything he wants you to. Apple originated ...

Not to get off topic too much but if you're looking for a superior performing, feature rich, business class device, IMO - the MOTOQ refresh coming out with windows 6.1 blows everything else out of the water with documents to go (create/edit word, excel, pp, .pdf and .zip), fastest qwerty tablet processor and the opera browser. To my knowledge, the iPhone 3G will not be able to edit office docs.

All of the handsets that Moto makes are manufactured in China unless it's an ODM product and, even then, the likelihood of being manufactured in Asia is still high. Good thing this article has NOTHING to do with the handsets.

The Q9h refresh (NEW COLOR!) will be launched soon with WM 6.1 - you will need the ATT software but I can't really comment on obtaining it.

Why are you recommending them to stay away from WM? It's hands down the most flexible and versitile....plus, for a first time smartphone user, they'll actually recognize icons.

I'm assuming you're referring to Q9h for AT&T. I'm more of an expert on the CDMA side but if the device has the Internet Sharing application that operates under the ICS protocol, then you would be able to that. All it does is convert the phone into a USB/BT modem and makes a data call. Probably a better place to ask this question would be www.everythingQ.com or www.qusers.com

Also, I know that BiM Active is developing an app for this device. It is a GPS app for running and cycling that tracks stats like pace, distance, calories, etc. I use it on V9m RAZR2 currently (which has GPS) and it's awesome. Check out www.bimactive.com for more info.

I'm not sure which mentally handicapped rep you picked out but I know that both the V9m and V9 have voice dialing. To activate on V9 RAZR2, just press and hold the send button. On the V9m, you just use the smart action key on the right side of the handset. I hope that helps. I would suspect the Z9 is the same. Here is a link to the V9 manual as well: http://www.motorola.com/Hellomoto/Mast er%20Lists/Product%20Manuals/Static%20Files/U S-EN/V9_at_t_user_guide.pdf

I'm trying to think of an OEM out there that doesn't have a consistent design language. That includes home appliances, automobiles, airplanes, coffee mugs, game consoles, etc. I don't hear you screaming at Range Rover, Volkswagen, Lexus or the like to change their design language. How is it that having a design language that is popular is a bad thing? The RAZR has shipped over 100mil units world wide. Every company out there makes a thin ...

because the big piece of the pie (TAM) is a bunch of cheap asses and won't fork over the $$$$'s to get a 3.2 MP camera. Gotta sacrifice to make some ends meet. The real world example would be MOTO's Q9h. Awesome specs (processor, chipset, memory, camera, etc), high price, and doesn't sell.

Also - just like a PC, the Q has two volumes. The system volume and the application volume. Make sure that both are turned to max. The application volume is the little 100% at the bottom of WMP and the system volume can be accessed by holding down the thumbwheel. Hope that helps.

Battery and extended battery are different for the Q9m/c. The basic battery has more MaH and the extended battery is totally different in size and MaH. Hope that helps.

Re: Battery life question

more like the OS is power hungry. Compared to the original Q - Q9m/c does much better. I have 3 email accounts syncing (one on exchange, two on POP delivery every 30 min) and use a multichat IM client 24/7. I get through a full day easy.

the Q9m/c supports RTSP. You can go to m.youtube.com to view YouTube videos or you can load TCPMP and the flash bundle to use the actual YouTube webpage. Hope that helps. You should probably be posting, checking out forums at www.qusers.com or www.everythingq.com.

hey rock - why would you not want a smart phone? Do you just text? You don't need Stereo BT,Windows Media Player, or actual internet? I'm still trying to figure out why someone wouldn't just go for the Q at $80 which, IMHO, is a much better messaging device.
