This is not trying to be a top of the line phone. It is trying to reach a demographic that may have not been able to make the jump to an android phone before because they are rough with phones. Rumor is that the MyTouch HD will have a FFC.

If the phone keeps restarting only when 1 particular song is played...it could be the song that is corrupted. Try deleting it, and reloading the song from your computer. As far as the phone sticking during text messages...how many texts do you have on your phone? Most phones freak out when you don't delete messages. If you don't have any messages on your phone, and it's still sticking, then it could be the phone. No clue on the green blocks. Both ...

My favorite customization application is called co0kie home tab. there are a number of ways to get it, but the best way to get the most up to date version is through www.xda-developers.com. search for the app, and find the download link on the bottom of the thread. there are also a number of custom ROMs that you can install on the phone. be careful with these though because you can brick your phone loading these if you aren't careful. www.xda-developers.com ...

The 1500 Talk + Text + Web plan alreay has everything built into the plan. Say you wanted to do the 1500 Talk + Text, but only 1 of the 2 lines wanted the web. Then you would do the $80 plan, and add the web to just that one like for $25 totaling $105 instead of doing 1500 Talk + Text + Web for $120. Also applies when adding additional lines, so if you had the 1500 Talk ...

Yea, they technically have 2 Android data plans. 1 for the MyTouch, then Android for the G1, Behold II, and Cliq. Both will work with the Nexus. I have tried both, and haven't had a problem with either. With the MyTouch plan, Visual Voice Mail is a separate add on you also have to add (its free). VVM is included with the Android plan.

With the new Even More plans, if you change from a grandfathered plan to a new plan, it will not extend the contract. If you are still under contract and want to switch to a Even More Plus plan, than there is a fee ($35 or $70). If you add a corporate discount to your account, it will extend the contract 2 years.

As long as you have the Android data plan on your account, everything is going to work fine. I went from a MyTouch to a Nexus One, and I didn't have to change anything. As soon as I put my SIM in it, everything worked.

Call T-Mobile from a different phone. They have a department called the "unsupported devices department" that deals with settings from non T-Mobile phones. They should be able to walk you through setting up MMS and even internet on the phone.

Re: UMA Rumor
Jan 25, 2010, 8:18 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

I personally loved UMA on my 8320 and 8900. It worked excellent in my basement where I don't get any service at all. From T-Mobile's standpoint, if someone is using UMA, they are not using T-Mobile's towers, thus saving costs as well. I think they should still encourage manufacturers to still develop UMA handsets. If the phone is going to have Wi-Fi already, I can't imagine it would be too much more expensive to do UMA too. Sometimes the handoffs ...

Re: UMA Rumor

T-Mobile isn't offering the Unlimited UMA calling feature anymore. But there's nothing concrete about T-Mobile to stop carrying phones that support UMA. They seem to be a nice touch to Blackberries, and AT&T carries phones with UMA and doesn't have any UMA type service, so I wouldn't be suprised to see Blackberry continue to release UMA phones.

Re: NO ETF IF YOU HAVE 0 SIGNAL???
Jan 18, 2010, 5:19 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

Go to a corporate owned store, and they'll probably change your SIM card first. Technically, this is going to be the first step anyone is going to tell you to do. That store can also file a Service Request, which'll forward up to a local engineer to take a look and see if there is something wrong with the tower near your home. What type of phone is it? Have you had service there before?

Re: NO ETF IF YOU HAVE 0 SIGNAL???

in the T-Mobile forum

If the T-Mobile coverage map shows you should have signal, and you don't, there are some troubleshooting steps that would need to be taken before they would consider something like that. If the coverage map shows you to have no signal, then yes, you can get out free of ETF.

Re: Amazed at Customers
Jan 15, 2010, 9:18 PM

The discount that you get on the phone is built into your rate plan every month. That is how the company makes its money back. The Even More Plus plans are cheaper because the price of the phone is not built into the rate plan. If a customer got a phone at a discount, then immediately switched over to the Even More Plus plan, T-Mobile would lose money on the discount they gave you. Yes, you still are paying every ...

Re: T-Mo's dropping prices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

in the T-Mobile forum

The only phones that dropped in price were the G1 ($180 to $150) and the BB Curve 8320 ($100 to $75). Now the BB Curves (8900 and 8320), Sidekicks (all), Dash and Wing do not have any mail in rebates, and the prices are out the door. The only "catch" is that a data plan is now REQUIRED (no point having those phones without the data plans anyway). The only slated "replacements" for those phones coming out is the TouchPro 2 ...

May 25, 2009, 7:57 PM

I think this is one of the questions that bug me the most. All phones, with nothing to compare it with, are good phones. Even if the phone was terrible, I'd spin it in a positive way like, "yea, it has text capabilities and speakerphone!" It is usually followed by asking if it is better than ____ (points to some high end data phone). Another pet peeve is when someone comes in (usually a younger girl) who is having ...

I know, but was trying to hit the main selling points for each phone. Yes the Behold and Memoir have media players, but the Nokia phones have a 3.5mm headset jack (2.5mm on 5610, but comes with adapter) and dedicated music controls. No one buys the Behold/Memoir because of the media players. All the phones have bluetooth, speakerphone, mobile backup, email, memory card slots, etc. But for the sake of just trying to hit the main selling points for ...

Now this would be a constructive response if you said why you hate your Behold. Without reasoning for why you hate it doesn't help anything, and is a waste of a post. Just because you hate it doesn't mean its a bad phone and everyone should not get it. As far as Behold / Memoir vs. 5610 / 5310... What are you looking for in a phone? Behold / Memoir: If you want a touch screen, a real nice camera, and/or internet & email ...

Mar 29, 2009, 2:41 PM

He's right. G1 - requires the data package to sign into the phone the first time. Technically, I've seen people who get the G1 and add the data package, log into gmail through the G1, then take the data package off. You'll be able to use the G1, and browse the internet through WiFi, but you'll keep getting a connection error message because it won't be able to connect to the network when you're not on WiFi. I wouldn't recommend ...

Re: G1 UMA
Mar 29, 2009, 1:17 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

The G1 has WiFi but no UMA. So you could hop on the WiFi on the G1 and browse the internet, but not make calls/texts if you don't have tower reception. If you don't have the UMA Hotspot plan, then every call is billed like normal, so you'll have no problem taking the SIM out of the G1 and into the Blackberry and make UMA calls.

Re: unlimited 49.99
Mar 29, 2009, 1:16 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

There are no catches, or downsides. It is unlimited minutes for $49.99/mo nationwide. It is a loyalty plan, so you must be on a postpaid plan for longer than 22 months to qualify. It does not include texting or internet, so she'll have to add that to the plan if she uses that.

Re: G2?
Mar 14, 2009, 9:11 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

There's no "1 year rule" for releasing a new phone. The G2 will most likely come out when the G1 sales start dampering off. Generally it's about a year, but T-Mobile (as any company) will make sure to maximize sales. What is rumored to be the "G2" is the HTC Magic which was released in Europe. It does run Android, and is all touch screen. Honestly, if I saw a G2 out for T-Mobile before Setember, I'd be VERY ...

Thats cool if you hate T-Mobile (not sure why you're wasting your time in their forum though...) Hate to break it to you though, not everyone is looking for data. There are plenty of people with non-data phones with a minutes/messaging package with no desire for the internet/e-mail/gps/whatever else. Sure Sprint's Simply Everything plan is a good deal, but not everyone on Sprint has that plan either because they don't need it. I'm not sure where you are getting $10 less ...

Actually, the Memoir runs TouchWiz...so its going to be just like the Behold, just a little tweaks to improve the functionality. So if Android is what you want...the G1 is the only US option right now and anytime soon. The G2 has been confirmed by both T-Mobile and HTC, but no time frame for the launch. My guess is at least July once the G1 sales start to tamper off. The G1 is still going to be the best bet for internet ...

Which is funny...because the people wanting a delay because they haven't received their converter box coupon yet most likely isn't paying anything for TV service anyway. Then the people who are paying for TV and/or are all prepared for the transition are going to get screwed because they are going to be the people who get screwed.

T-Mobile BB 8220 Pearl Flip w/ AT&T

I have a BB Pearl 8220 from T-Mobile that is unlocked, and I want to use it with AT&T service. How would I get the phone configured for the internet and e-mail to work? Is that something an AT&T corporate store can do? I am not looking for a BB 8220 vs. Bold vs. Storm vs. anything else, or T-Mo vs. AT&T debate. I don't feel bad for anyone. The coupons were basically a prepaid debit card for $40 that can be used for a converter box. Re: New phones in Q1 to T-Mo
Jan 10, 2009, 5:49 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

Right now T-Mobile doesn't have any phones with 3g that can teather...so you actually gain that capability by not having 3g on the phone. What you lose is internet surfing and data download speeds. The browser and data download speeds will most likely be faster than your pearl due to the bigger processor, but 3g can be up to 10x faster than EDGE. If you never had anything 3g, you're not really losing anything.

As big as the Bold size wise or hype wise? The Curve 8900 is essentially the Bold with UMA instead of 3g. Its supposed to be a little smaller and lighter too...but functionality wise they're supposed to be virtually identical. Hype wise? No. The Bold was big because it was the first 3g BlackBerry. The 8900 will likely be quietly released, but if its anything like the Curve, will be a very solid and reliable phone. There is also supposed to ...

It really all depends on a lot of things. Its taken at a case by case basis. It helps if you are out of contract or at the end of your contract, been with the company for a few years, and on a decently high rate plan. If you are only halfway through your first contract with t-mobile on a $40 rate plan with a $10 text package, most likely they'll just sympathize but then remind you of the ...
