If you actually read the terms and conditions (I think they come in the box with the phone), it is airtight. Even with the text messaging thing, they had to have cancelled service within 30 days of receiving notice in their bill (which was 3 months before the price actually changed and no one reads their bill anyway) OR you could not have sent or received a single text message after the day the rate increased.

I haven't had any escalated customers today except one lady who insisted she had had insurance and I very haughtil turned my screen around and physically showed here that there had NEVER been insurance on her phone. That shut her up.

Sprint's commercials are totally misleading and we constantly have Nextel customers in our store needing help because they think we deal with Nextel phones. We are not trained on Nextel phones (except for one one-day class 8 months ago), our technicians do not know how and are not certified to work on their phones, and best of all, our computers, in a SprintNextel store, do not even have the software needed to look up Nextel accounts. Why are you telling them to file an insurance claim? It can be repaired or replaced under ESRP. Do you have a tech in the area? There's no reason for them to pay the $50 deductible unless the phone has liquid damage or the motherboard is exposed.

Most stores have a machine but there are about a million different situations you can have.
You have some stores that only allow a tech to do it, so if the tech isn't in they won't be able to.
You can have some stores that don't have a machine.
You have some phones that have damage to the data ports or just will not connect for whatever reason.
It doesn't always work or isn't always available so don't promise your customers that the ...

Why is it that when you do a successful sales pitch to someone they suddenly think they have the right to accost you with schpiel about selling their make-up products? Employee customer care is the worst! Every time I call them I get a different story (wanted to upgrade phone before I leave; was told by three people that I could get one at full rebate every calendar year, but then other people said it was after I had the phone for a year; bunch of bs either way!).
