My experience: the $15 phone activation fee IS charged whenever you switch to a different phone, even if you are an existing customer. HOWEVER, IF you buy a brand new Cricket phone (i.e. packaged in a Cricket branded box, such as those you can purchase new from a Cricket store or Wal-Mart), AND you activate the phone by calling Cricket, you can request that the activation fee be waived due to the fact that you have purchased a "brand new ...

Today I was told by a local Cricket Store that the release date was delayed again until the end of October 2006.
