I read all of them. I just don't see how this could be compared to Android at all.

You guys in that first thread are funny. This looks nothing like Android.

Actually, THIS site specifies that the Behold is 3.1. https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone .php?p=1766 And other sites do as well. I once had the exact millimeters of the screen and it comes out to 3.1.

The iphone and G1 are sensitive to electricity, not heat.

It's resistive. It's a good, responsive one, but no iphone or G1.

The browser is good and does display full HTML. Not sure if mobile view is an option.

A couple more things. The Eternity has a 3.2 inch screen and the Behold is 3.1 inches. Surprisingly, that 1/10 of an inch is noticable. However, they both have the same number of pixels and the Behold actually looks crisper. A definately advantage of the Eternity is the standard 3.5" headphone jack, which the Behold lacks.

I have the Behold and I like it EXCEPT for the browser, which totally sucks! I played with the Eternity today and it definately has a better browser. Also, the Eternity can multitask and the Behold cannot. However, the camera on the Behold is better and has a flash.

This phone is really cool...except for the LOUSY web browser. It's really too bad. I hope there will be an update.

Well, if anyone cares, I know why I thought you can zoom by touching the meter on the screen. It's because you can do that when looking at photos - but not when using camera.

Um can someone just delete my post. I thought zooming was done that way but i just tried it and it didnt work. sorry.

To zoom quickly with the camera, just TOUCH somewhere on the zoom bar/meter.

I am pretty sure white phones were there at the big unveiling party. It is real - just not yet released.

There is no 3g. This is a camera phone I reckon.

Amen. I would love to have VGA @ 30fps. Hoping the Samsung Behold will deliver.

I have played with the black one just at the store and the white characters on black keys work just fine. They are actually visibile, which is a nicety.

"The ZN5 has a five megapixel Kodak camera with autofocus, xenon flash and panorama shooting mode" and it can capture 176 x 144 videos at 15 frames per second! How lame is that?! Seriously, old cheap phones shoot videos that good.

From pictures I have viewed online, I think the keyboard on the White model is exactly the same as the one on the Bronze model. Any confirmation? The keyboard sucks because it's so hard to see.

in the HTC G1 forum

My 14 days will be up before November 10. I went ahead and returned my Bronze G1 today. I will use an old phone for a little while. After I have a chance to check out the Behold, I will either get that or get a Black G1. I figured I should return my phone before time runs out to keep my options open. I had decided that I like the Black G1 more than the Bronze anyway.

Re: Last Chance: Any Video Capture?
Oct 30, 2008, 2:29 PM
in the HTC G1 forum

Whoa! This changes everything. I know shooting video on phones ain't fancy but it's better than nothing. CIF or QVGA is decent and I at least get to record my kids' voices. I just don't have a regular video camera when I need it. asLeepLessman, let's say I keep my G1 for now and then decide to sell it later because I want the T919 (Behold). Will my data plan for the G1 work on the T919.

Last Chance: Any Video Capture?
Oct 30, 2008, 11:54 AM
in the HTC G1 forum

I have my G1 boxed to be returned. Not having a video camera is a deal breaker for me. I thought an app would come out to take care of it, then Rich said: "That's something that would probably require specific API support. I doubt it's there, or someone would have done it by now." https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/p_fo rum.php?fm=m&ff=1763&fi=1904037 Unless someone can give me some hope, this phone is gone. I will await the Samsung Behold.

Re: Wondering about Memory Card

A microSDHC is just a microdSD card with high capacity (HC). I think anything over 4gb is considered HC. Any phone with HC compatibility can also use any microSD card 4gb and under.

Re: Should I buy?

in the HTC G1 forum

I love Android and its market. I like a lot a lot of things about the G1. In my response to tdrocker, I just listed what I don't like about it. The lack of video capture is the deal breaker for me - it may not be important to others. The Behold will have very little available for download, but it will be COMPLETE out of the box and I don't have much of a business need.

There's no reason why you can't go to gmail on the web using an iphone. I am returning my G1 because: 1. Can't see the keyboard on the Bronze model 2. Too much of a brick 3. Accelerometer not utilized with OS 4. I thought a developer would make a video capture app but I am not sure if it will happen now 5. I want to check out the Samsung Behold If some good updates come out I might order the black model.

Re: Techies, please answer my questions!
Oct 28, 2008, 2:04 PM

Thanks Rich. Yeah, opening the screen switches the screen orientation, but it's STUPID that the accelerometer is not used for this. Don't people want to browse the web in landscape mode with the keyboard closed? I understand it can be flipped manually, but hitting Menu > More > Flip Orientation is annoying when I should be able to simply turn my phone. Seriously, this is unacceptable Google/HTC/T-mobile!

Re: Wow, I feel stupid
Oct 26, 2008, 6:24 PM
in the HTC G1 forum

It's the thing in the phone that makes the orientation change from portrait to landscape and vice versa when the phone is turned. The software on the G1 does not take advantage of this and I have to manually change the view - the view also changes when when opening up to the keyboard. Some applications, like the Video Player, do use the accelerometer. I just wish it worked for the web and other things. https://www.phonescoop.com/glossary/ term.php?gid=372

Techies, please answer my questions!

Hey I have a G1 and I am bummed that the screen doesn't flip when I turn the phone. So, do you think updates will come that will allow that? I want it to flip autmatically when on the internet, viewing pictures, etc. Also, shouldn't it be pretty easy for a third party to make a video capture application? I can't wait for that.

Oct 26, 2008, 4:11 PM

I read that pressing the camera HALFWAY down focuses, but it didn't seem to work - it would just take a picture. Well, I held it down only a quarter of the way (it's a little sensitive) and it focused and then I took a picture. I tried this several times and took some good pictures. I can swap my G1 for a black one to take care of the invisible keyboard issue and hopefully the accelometer and ...

Re: I heard that...

It works everywhere any other phone works works with T-mobile. The issue is that 3G may or may not be available where you are. If its not, the G1 will still run on EDGE.

I am returning mine : (
Oct 25, 2008, 11:02 PM
in the HTC G1 forum

I have been an advocate of this phone and now I am returning it. I love Android but not the G1. 1. I can't believe the accelerometer isn't used to change the orientation of the screen. 2. I have to open the keyboard to type any little thing. The above could be fixed but the following is the big issue for me: 3. The camera is useless. It takes several seconds to take a picture and they are blurry most of the ...

The phone has an accelerometer so it just needs to be utilyzed. Have faith - I think it could even work in portrait view.

Virtual Keyboard coming!
Oct 24, 2008, 12:02 PM
in the HTC G1 forum

I wish the G1 had a virtual keyboard so I wouldn't have to open the physical keyboard to enter short, simple data. If the following is true, this will be awesome! http://htcsource.com/index.php/Andr oid/Android-Virtual-Keyboard-coming-on-Q1-09. html

All day I guess because I have yet to access it at all. I don't have 3G where I live but I hooked up to my wireless network but it does not work for the internet at all. Internet is fine on our laptop. Is it true the Market does work at all on Edge?
