Sprint/Nextel lost over 300,000 subscribers last quarter, maybe they should let everyone go also. ;-)

Actually the infusion of AT&T management staff into the company is what caused a lot of problems IMHO. It caused a lot of confusion in the company and caused it to lose a bit of direction. By far, though, the biggest problem SunCom had was pricing their inital "Truth in Wireless" plans too low... oh and the AWE porting nightmare lol Also I think if they had gone to a strictly AT&T pricing structure they would not have survived either, ...

Several of the new Motorola phones use Linux (eg the GSM version of the RAZR2). Also the Motorola A1200 does. And there is always the OpenMoko, which you can now install QTopia on now. And if you are a developer (or have a lot to spend on a phone) you can always get a Trolltech Greenphone. As far as Ubuntu, my personal preferance falls to Mandriva and SuSE. IMHO they are much more polished and already much easier for the ...

I am pretty sure that I read recently that the FCC mandated that all carriers will have to allow roaming from all other carriers (using the same technology of course) as long as the device does not harm the network. But there was no date that this had to go into affect and it might be in an appeals process or something.

LTE is the next step after the HS*PA technologies. LTE is still in the very initial draft phases though and is probably at least a couple years out before its even ratified.

Maybe they already have the phone with ATT and they are waiting on the unlock code or something, the original message is not super clear on that I think.

Retail reps do not set pricing, pay structure, rate plan mix; the are not in charge of advertising, staffing, phone mix, or quality of the customer care department. These are the tings that mostly contributed to SunCom's financial problems, not the quality of the retail representatives.

Right T-Mobile does have a flexable spending account, but they do not put money in there for you. SunCom puts 1500 into your flexible spending account themselves.

Most of the benifits are similar, health insurance is a bit more expensive at T-Mobile, but not terribly I think. The one thing T-Mobile really lacks in benifits is the 1500 flexible spending account that SunCom has. Pay is similar, hourly pay is generally about 90% of what SunCom's hourly pay is, but commission is a bit more and business tends to more consistant than it is at SunCom. The T-Mobile commission structure is very crazy and confusing though, where ...

I have to disagree on some parts of this. Having worked for both companies I can say that SunCom's retail staff is largely much better than T-Mobile's. SunCom has done a pretty decent job training the retail reps, even sending them to training at regional training centers on a regular basis. T-Mobile, on the other hand, has some of the worst training I have experienced from a large company... it is all these stupid litte online quiz things. SunCom is ...

Yes but T-Mobile has a large enough customer base that having a small handfull of customers that are costing them money is not as big a deal as it is for SunCom. Some of the companies that T-Mobile has aquired over the years did have unlimited plans, and there are people still on those plans. The thing is that the customers on the UnPlan will still be subject to the same MOU terms... just like SunCom cancelled service for a ...

Yeah, they were certainly one of the first. I think Yahoo! Mail and a couple others, along with Hotmail, all launched at about the same time. Interestingly, they didn't used to be owned by Microsoft (if I remember correctly)

It should be noted that Hotmail email accounts are not supported (blame Microsoft for this, they don't allow POP or IMAP access to Hotmail) by the built in email client.

Actually pretty much every carrier worldwide rebrands HTC phones... part of the point of using HTC is that the carriers can rebrand the entire thing, even the name and any trace of HTC. Pretty much it's only HTC themselves, and non-carriers that sell unlocked phones, that use the HTC names for them.

in the Article: AT&T To Back Up User Contact Data forum

Its called Network Address Book. To access it you first have to sync the handset with the service from the handset and currently there are only a few devices that support it. The reason it's not showing in your My.T-Mobile is because you didn't first sync from a compatible handset. Once you do, it acts like you would expect a contact backup service to work. at least that's my experience with it...
