Problems with install of Bell's .122
I'm currently running .114 hybrid v1 and have desktop software 4.7. I downloaded and installed Bell's .122 software. I deleted the vendor file. When I try to run the update from either the apploader or the desktop software, it doesn't find the update and offers me only .75 (hell no) or .65 (no chance in hell). What am I doing wrong? Help please!
Difficulty with Backup/Restore
I'm still running the .75 software and have been having difficulty with Desktop Software. Every time I attempt to run a backup of my phone, I get an error message. I've tried desktop 4.6 and 4.7. I want to install the .103 or .109 software, but not before backing up my phone. Suggestions?
Re: Voice Mail Issue
I've pulled the battery and tried uninstalling visual voice mail. Still no luck.
Voice Mail Issue
I just got my storm on Saturday as an upgrade from my pearl. I'm very happy with it (and haven't installed a newer software version yet), however my voice mail indicator at the top of the screen says I have a message. I have no messages in visual voice mail, and I have logged into my actual voicemail and it says I have no messages. I used the * option to close my VM instead of ...
Re: At first I did but...
This phone has enough radios to give an elephant cancer. Who needs wifi in their phone when this baby works virtually everywhere?
Interface is slow until...
it gets the new update which ends in .65. The best thing about it? It is done OTA! That's right, over the air software update on a blackberry! How beautiful is that? The update makes the phone run SO much better. There will probably be 2-3 more in the next 30 days. One to specifically add compatibility with Rhapsody.
I can't wait to make one my own!
Re: Did anyone get the "talking up a storm" email???
One came out. I got it. If I remember, it was about the global capability.
Blackbery 4.5 OS
I have info from a VZW Data Sales Consultant that VZW will make OS 4.5 available for the Pearl and Curve on Oct. 15.
I'm not sure if anything other updates will be included in the software package, but I think this is pretty good news.
Now we just need the Storm to get here!
Gmail issue with my Blackbery Pearl
Every time I send an email via my gmail address from my blackbery pearl, I receive the same sent email as a new message. It is not horrible, but the problem is VERY annoying. Is there a setting in my gmail account that needs to be changed or is it my phone? Please help!
I am running OS 4.5 on my pearl if that helps, however I was having the same issues running OS 4.3.
Re: Android for Verizon
I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure there was a VZW press release stating Verizon would offer an Android phone before the end of the year. Anyone able to back me up?
Re: I LOVE VZW!! (kinda long story)
The policy people are referring to is the Lost/Stolen/Damaged replacement option for people without insurance.
The individual can receive a phone at the 1yr contract price, complete with all applicable rebates, in the event that their phone is unusable and/or "missing". This is something that is approved by manager and only available once every 12 months. It does NOT extend your contract; however, your upgrade and/or New Every Two date will be pushed out for 2 yrs ...
Doesn't Matter, I still won't sell it
I have absolutely no faith in Motorola products. The Razr, Krazr, v325 and v325i, w385, and all the Q byproducts have soured me on Motorola. Until they make a products that last longer than 6 months, I will continue to steer customers away from Motorola garbage.
Re: Verizon Add-on Fees
And also to discourage people from buying a phone because the color they want is out of stock and returning it for a different color within 30 days. Any phone returned by a customer can no longer be sold as new. It is sent to the warehouse and becomes a Field Replacement Unit (FRU). Even if the phone works fine and has less than 10 minutes of use on it, it gets sent back.
When will 4.5 be releases?
Does anyone know when the new 4.5 (otherwise known as 4.3.1) will be released? I updated my blackberry to what is currently known as 4.3.0.97 but it doesn't offer the features described in PC magazine such as...
• Automatic playlist generation in the media player (H)
• Microsoft Office document editing with DocumentsToGo (H)
• Native format attachment downloading (S)
• HTML e-mails (S)
• Over-the-air device upgrades (S)
• Free/busy calendar lookup (S)
• Searching the server for old e-mail messages (S)

Hmmm...
Does this mean VZW employees will start getting discounts on Qwest services such as DSL and Direct TV?
Re: At&t Cingular merger
If people are concerned about the VZW user interface, keep your Alltel phone. I can activate an Alltel phone on VZW right now. The network consolidation will take no time at all.
Re: At&t Cingular merger
The merger is great for my area. Currently VZW has about 65% marketshare and Alltel has approx 25%. Sprextel and ATT/Cingular/att have a presence, but only make up a combined 8%. US Cellular has the rest. Once the merger is complete, My Circle won't be necessary because VZW will have 90% marketshare and you will be able to talk to virtually anyone for free!
Welcome to the new Verizon Wireless Forum
I have to say, I am excited to have Alltel on board with VZW. The networks are 100% compatible. The only thing that will need to be converted is the billing system. Customers will probably get to keep their existing equipment as well. I've activated Alltel equipment on VZW before so I know it works.
I have always respected Alltel as competition (I'm in the Omaha/Lincoln area) and am extremely excited about the Network and licensing ...
Re: Bad for Sprint...
This is true, however; VZW pushes their roaming capabalities (PRL) on Sprint to the bottom of the list, and vice versa. It is cheaper for both VZW and Sprint to roam on Alltel than each other. Alltel is still a regional carrier (albeit the largest regional carrier in the US) and has little negotiation power compared to VZW and Sprint. That is why it is cheaper for Sprint to roam on Alltel than VZW.
If VZW buys ...
Re: Will Iphone 3G hurt verizon??
The iphone did not truly hurt Verizon. VZW beat ATT in postpay adds despite the launch of the iphone (the iphone is ONLY available to postpay customers). The only way ATT has beaten VZW in any quarter is on the strength of its prepay. VZW has more postpay (contract) customers than ATT does, despite ATT having the most total customers.
Re: I Escaped From The Big Red Matrix
Aha! "Jam Session" equals "Friday Free For All" in the Midwest area. You are right, they are not a lot of fun, but are sometimes entertaining. We mix it up a little by combining with other stores regularly which is cool. Not my fave thing (nor my managers), but at least we get paid for it (a couple hours of guaranteed overtime a week isn't horrible).
Re: I Escaped From The Big Red Matrix
Oh yeah, and your name does TOTALLY ROCK!!!
Re: I Escaped From The Big Red Matrix
I'm sorry to hear your frustrations. I have worked for VZW corporate for almost three years and havenever been to a "Jam Session" and have no idea what "Slamming" is. I do know that not all managers are the same and sometimes you get a sucky one. I'm fortunate to work for one of the good ones (who unfortunately for me, will most likely be promoted to DM soon). Bad managers and bloated corporations exist ...
When will we see VZW 1st Quarter Results?
Anyone know?
Re: Keep getting old email
One more thing, I am not on a BES. I am using this to get my school email via POP3 and the blackberry internet solution.
Email reconciliation does not work for me. If I delete an email off my phone, it leaves it on my mail server.
Keep getting old email
I have a Verizon Blackberry Pearl that keeps receiving old emails that I have deleted off of my phone. They keep showing up as new messages weeks later. I have email reconciliation turned off. Other people do not have this problem.
Does anyone have any solutions?
Re: Things VZW doesn't do: Sign you up for Premium Text Messages
The user with the phone has to physically send a message to a specific number to sign up for the service. Verizon gets billed for the service, then they bill you. Ground your kids, they are lying when they said they didn't sign up for anything.
Free ringtones are never "free"!
Re: Props Verizon
For the last time... CIRCUIT CITY VZW KIOSKS ARE CORPORATE EMPLOYEES AND CORPORATELY TRAINED!!!
Help Me Understand
Verizon Wireless has successfully operated since 2000 increasing profits and customers with an industry leading churn rate and a high ARPU. Until this point, they have not been a publicly traded company, nor have they needed to be. Why is it that the minute they decide to sell stock they must be hurting and in danger of going bankrupt? Most of the major carriers sell stock; ATT being one. Yes, VZW owes money for the ...
Sprint's New Business Plan
Looks like Sprint has the same mentality as many of their customers. Get the service, and don't pay the bill.
I guess Verizon should have ran credit on Sprint before allowing them to have a contract. Maybe they should have charged a $125 or $400 deposit.
Here is the official difference
If you need your device to sync with a Microsoft Exchange server, you will still need the $44.99/month option. If you are using the phone for web-based (yahoo, hotmail, aol, gmail) or any pop3 option, you will be fine with the $29.99.
This is similar to the blackberry plans where the $44.99 is required to connect to a Blackberry Enterprise Servier vs. a pop3 or web-based email. If you are using hotmail/msn/windowslive, you will probably want the PPC ...
Re: Vzw to Att: Switching between phones not so bad with Vzw afterall
People always comment about how nice it is to store their contacts on their SIM card so when they switch from phone to phone they always have their info and don't need a cellebrite machine to move their phone book. Unfortunately, if you lose your GSM phone with SIM card in it, you are actually worse off then if you lost your VZW (or Alltel, or US Cellular, or Sprint) CDMA phone... provided you have backup assistant (which ...
Re: Praise the lord! (and Rich and Eric)
Too bad he/she/it will just be back with a different user name.
Re: Why did Verizon do this?
Apparently it's working. I've had a ton of customers come in recently to ask about the "Alias". Apparently u740 doesn't stick in the memory as easily.
Re: Verizon.....same crap different toilet
The phone is ok, not my favorite. It's amazing how many customers I have had in recently asking for the "alias". Apparently the marketing is working.
I'm Confused
I just accepted my LTI. Pays out in three years just like the last two I've received. Not sure what you are talking about with LTIs going away. They didn't offer one in 2007, but we already have received them for 2008. Besides, LTIs are a bonus, not guarantees like STIs.
Re: Stop giving us a bad name - att has bluetooth enabled
Oh, Please. Yes, ATT/Cingular/att does have bluetooth enabled on all of their phones. If the customer wasn't smart enough to move the pictures to her card, do you REALLY think she would be smart enough to connect to Walgreen's via bluetooth? In my experience, here is the average customers knowledge regarding bluetooth...
Customer: This phone says it has bluetooth, what is that?
Me: Bluetooth is a technology that enables you to connect wirelessly to another device, i.e. a ...
Re: Phone Logs are deleted
Get a memory card. The camera fills up the memory on the phone and the device has to get memory from somewhere. Keep your media separate and it wilkl fix the problem.
Re: Any way to give my wife BB 8130 and only text plan ?
You can go Pay as you go on the data for a blackberry just like the other PDAs. However, every minute of everyday a blackberry searches for email and it can't be stopped and you will have a huge bill. Blackberries are designed for EMAIL. That is the reason for their existence. Blocking that feature works against the design of the phone. If you don't want email, get something different.
