How is the coverage in NY?
I live in Suffolk county on Long Island and work in NYC and was wondering about T-Mobiles coverage. I have 1 co-worker who has a T-Mobile account and loves it, however she has always had T-Mobile, for like 10 years or so and can't compare it to any other carrier.
I am on Sprint right now, and have no complaints. I've been on Verizon, and AT&T and all 3 have there dead spots and such so I'm used ...
How is the service?

can you personalize text message ring tones to individuals or is there a app that allows you to do this?
Call quality
My wife and I have the 1st droid and the call quality leaves something to be desired. If you put the phone on your shoulder forget about the person on the other end understanding you. It sounds muzzled.
I am really interested in getting the X but I haven't found anyone talking about the call quality. Is it improved, I mean do I have to hold the phone just right, so the other person understands me like ...

The phone lets you pick a mp3 and use it as a ring tone. Put the song on your phone, then select the song, hold down the song and a screen comes up letting you make the song your ring tone.
I just can't figure out how to do that with text messaging. Anyone have any ideas?

I have Windows Vista and a Mac, on the windows machine I just ignore the look up for software, and I still can go into the phones folders.
But I was just trying to put songs on the phone. I don't know if that helps you.

I figured out how to make a mp3 a ring tone but is there a way to personalize individual ringtones? or to use a mp3 as a text sound instead of "droid"?

Help with Ringtones
I put some ring tones on my Iphone that I made and I can't find them in my settings on my phone.
BUT when I connect my iphone to my mac, Itunes can see that they are on my device in ring tones.
Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks

Ring tones and wallpaper
I was wondering if anyone knew how I could make my own wallpapers for the phone from pictures i got off of the internet? and does anyone know how to take a song from my computer and make it a ring tone? My old phone I know you had to just take a short clip and make it a small mp3 file, but I dont know if that works with this phone.

Yes, but what about Amp'd's version the E816, or Hollywood as they call it? I know its not discontinued but how much longer will that be around for? and does anyone know what is on the horizon for Amp'd as far as new phones?

The customer service went through all the functions with me. We checked to make sure that I had vibrate set and that no ring tone was set to play when vibrate was set.
I had other problems with my phone as well. I would set a ring tone as my default ring tone and for some reason it the default ring tone would change on its own and go back to the factory ring tone.

I just bought my phone a little over 2 weeks ago and I just noticed the same problem that you are talking about. When I had the phone on vibrate it would ring still. Thing ring was very quite, but it rang non-the-less, and it wasn't vibrating like I wanted it to.
However I did notice that it did vibrate when I received a text message. Weird right?!? I called amp'd customer service and ...

The reason that Amp'd customer service has verizon maps is because Amp'd is on Verizons network. You get the same coverage as you would with a Verizon phone that is only digital.
Amp'd phones are all only digital, NO ANALOG, where some of verizons phones still have the ability to go back and forth between digital and analog. The only advantage to having a phone that goes to analog when needed is for the few places ...

I have heard from a friend of mine that Sprints ring tones expire after 3 months, and you have to buy them again. Is this true?

Repairs to a Helio Phone
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew how Helio handles phone repairs. If you phone needs to be fixed for whatever reason, do you have to ship it back to Helio? if so do they give you a loaner while your phone is being repaired?

I emailed Amp'd because I dont want to get into a contract with them and have no support if there is problems with the phone. They have not emailed me back. Does anyone know what amp'd does if your phone needs to be fixed for any reason?
