LG VU Price and Full Internet, both versions?
May 1, 2008, 12:37 PM
in the AT&T forum

Are both models going to offer full internet web browsing? I have seen the iphone and is there any chance this web browser on the VU is going to be similar in any way? Also, what is the price difference between the two versions of the LG VU, the TV and non-TV models? Please include new contract pricing and no commitment costs.

There was a post over at howardforums that indicated the phone was released on 2-5 and that company stores would probably have them on Thursday or Friday of this week. I don't know how true that is, but if you call an at&t store, it sounds like they are expecting them but don't know when they will arrive yet. So it could be any time now. Maybe someone on here would have more insight.

More 3G bars in more places?

in the Article: AT&T Stepping Up 3G Network Coverage forum

There are so many areas that don't even have a single cell site with 3G on it, if they are adding 80 additional cities, that doesn't make them even close to half of their entire network 3G capable. If they want to catch up, I hope they are focusing on interstate highways and covering their company owned stores, there are two stores in my area that have been waiting on 3G service since 2006.

Sony Ericsson z750 on the latest rebate form

in the AT&T forum

As of today, 1-5-08, the Sony Ericsson z750 is on the rebate form that's just been updated, but this relate only goes until 1-19, so if this phone is being released that soon, we should see it any day now. Any idea of when this phone will hit shelves, it looks fairly nice.

Oct 14, 2007, 3:17 PM
in the AT&T forum

There is rumor that there's expected to be a many regions launching 3G on at&t this coming week of Oct. 15th. Some cities that are rumored include Pittsburgh, Minneapolis, Denver, and Oklahoma City. All of these areas are in need of 3G services from at&t and have been very far behind schedule for some time now. Comments please.

Re: Do I have Sprint coverage?

I just wonder if the EVDO map is accurate, or if a Sprint store can tell me one way or another if the coverage actually exists yet. I would think there is a way a corp store has some sort of map of their own.

Do I have Sprint coverage?
Mar 27, 2007, 4:48 PM
in the Sprint forum

Well, the maps at sprint.com show an array of maps for coverage in my area. I'm in St. Clairsville, OH...zipcode 43950. The powersource maps show both sprint and nextel coverage, and the power vision shows great coverage on the increased download speeds. Sounds great so far, but when zooming in, it shows the 120 day coverage with the striped area. Is it safe to say that the coverage is there, or should I call and ask what the case ...

EV-DO Coverage map question
Mar 19, 2007, 1:56 PM
in the Sprint forum

There are several new cellphone sites that are coming to my area for Sprint EV-DO Rev. A, which is being added to existing Nextel iDEN towers, and i'm looking into giving Sprint a try and seeing how the service works. Anyway, after checking the Sprint Business website, here's the link: http://www.sprint.com/business/products/produ cts/evdoCoverage2.jsp?map=Pittsburgh_PA&mrkt= Pittsburgh,%20Pa It appears that the brown shaded areas is EV-DO Rev. A coverage, so if this is the case, the coverage does exist. Though the maps do not read the ...

Will VZW expand into new areas now?
Oct 17, 2006, 11:27 AM
in the Article: A Visual Guide to AWS forum

With the Verizon Wireless license in all of the eastern U.S., will VZW expand into new areas where Alltel already operates, to help competition with Cingular in some markets? If so, this would be a great advantage to many people, including more choices for consumers.

Re: Going National?
Oct 6, 2006, 5:18 PM
in the Alltel forum

Alltel is a well respected rural wireless provider. They are probably going to be one of the only carriers in the country to offer outstanding service in outlying areas, in which, they probably will build on market share. And maybe, if given the opportunity to enter into the right areas, be a national provider one day, but that is a maybe.

Who is "American Cellular Corp", any Cingular affiliation?
Sep 19, 2006, 2:42 PM
in the AT&T forum

After reading the results of the AWS Spectrum Auction, there is a list of markets won by, "American Cellular Corp" Does anyone know what carrier this represents, or is it any affiliation of Cingular? Wasn't sure where to post this, since the awarded markets for them kind of followed Cingular's footprint. Thanks in advance.

Re: V3 freeze problem

I have the V3 and get the same kind of freezing up problem. Though i've kinda gotten used to taking the battery and sim card out when it happens, but it's not that often, maybe once every three or four days, and as often as i'm on media net, it's not too bad. Sorry, I don't have any advice to fix it.

Re: Why are Sprints 2Q numbers in the toilet???
Aug 26, 2006, 12:20 PM
in the Sprint forum

It comes down to the coverage. The Sprint coverage is just plain bad in a lot of areas, even on interstate highways. When you have to roam off of of someone elses towers most of the time, it gives little meaning to having wireless service. After all, that's the basis for a cell phone is the service you get, not the kind of phone you have.

Re: Expanded rollout of 3g service soon?

Is there an updated 3g coverage map updated with the latest markets launching? After checking at cingular.com/3g it looks like they only have the original 16 cities that launched, as well as looking under coverage maps after entering a zipcode.

Also, today i've noticed that media net has been down most of the day, with the signal moving from one bar to full signal, and my phone hasn't done this before.

Expanded rollout of 3g service soon?
Aug 22, 2006, 3:01 PM
in the AT&T forum

There was word on another wireless forum of Cingular having 3g service launched in Cleveland and Columbus, OH. Also word of the 3g (umts) coverage expanding quickly into other metro and even outlying areas. Does anyone know when it will actually be listed on cingular.com or when 3g phones could become available in stores in areas where it has been 'soft launched'? Any press releases coming about a big launch day?

"Additional PCS Service" What's available?
Aug 14, 2006, 11:25 AM
in the Sprint forum

Does anyone know if this is a network built by Sprint themselves, it's supposed to be an additional digital service area, so I take it a Sprint phone would not say "roaming" if in one of these coverage areas. According to the map legend at Sprint, you cannot get on Vision in one of those covered areas. Any more info, or maybe Sprint is in the process of putting CDMA into iDEN only service areas. Thanks.
