That is a good point as well. Honestly I would be apologetic when customers called or came into a store to complain, but then direct them to Apple as they are at fault. See, I don't want to go too off topic here, but that's the problem. Americans are so indoctrinated into going to their mobile provider because of the business model that is set. The mobile provider controls the sale of services and devices from beginning to end, ...

So to PROPERLY answer your question, you can talk and text at the same time, but not utilize the data network ie., e-mail, web, etc while on a call.

Sure you can. The iPhone is on AT&T, and the service sucks. If it is such a problem (I for one know mine is) then they should resolve the problems ASAP. But what are they doing? Brushing it off like we are all lying. The average consumer doesn't care what the problem is, they just know the signal sucks. If AT&T was dumb enough to let a "poor" device be sold, that was SUPPOSED to be their "flagship" device, ...

Buddy, for your own good, put a sock in it. Cingular is MORE THAN 100 markets behind VZW and Sprint. Cingular will NOT be launching "Nationwide" UMTS or HSDPA by the end of the year. Did you just make that up, seriously? I am a Verizon user and know that Sprint is data-king.

I would NEVER sign a contract if I paid full retail for a phone. This idea has been discussed in depth many times, but I cannot see anyone signing a contract while paying full retail; the reason we sign contracts is to get subsidized pricing on phones! But you're right, it would eliminate a lot of BS.
