This may have already been covered in this very lengthy thread, but it would seem that sprint would have an inventory of nearly new returned phones, which are returned on the 14 day thing, etc--but they have no policy apparently to use these for situations like this---I'm not sure any carrier does, but in the old days, I could go into the gte store and get a slightly used handset for a discount, and all would be happy (they ...

You either have a warranty or you don't- If it is within the warranty period, you have written legal rights, which will be protected I imagine both by state and federal agencies---don't whine, take advantage of the regs which protect you (in these small cases, the state consumer dept can be of a lot of help, so can small claims court). Sprint doesn't make the phone, or warranty it--the mfg does--however, one would hope that they would ...

good post, but I believe that if the first method is used, you will be billed fr data usage, unless the special option for this is chosen-i forget what it's called--second method is best, if you can get it to work, but also requires a vision phone, and option for it to be air-time free.

Yeah, I think its about the same- the problem I had was gertting ther correct drivers to make the think work again--I could not get it to work with the old 4900 hook up--is that what you had to do- Best thing about this is that the phone itself now loads pages much quicker.

What is the story on the data cable connect speed for the new phones, like the sanyo 5400 etc? I have read they limited 14.4; is this with the cable to laptop connection?

I will respond to my own post--yes the laptop cable works, and the 5400 is a great little phone.and the speaker phone is the loudest I have used-also there is virtually no delay on the ready link, though I question it's worth to the average person. I had also, asked on another post about the $10 non contract availability, it is listed again on the back of the latest price list which also describes 7pm N&W--if everything ...

Coverage in the some of the more rural, hilly areas of East Tn depends on analog also--I was suprised that you have trouble in ny state, but if the towers aren't there, the coverage is not as good, regardless of where, I suppose.

You may be right, but since this PTT thing has been the buzz for months now, and the phones are relatively easy to configure for ptt, it would appear that all of this would be introduced in the biggest, best selling season (xmas) if the year, not the traditionally worst selling season, just after Christmas---but then again what do I know, and in view of other terribly unbelievable sales blunders by all carriers, one could almost imagine that PTT ...

While you are probably correct, that your contract plan didn't change, when I called, the c/s rep didn't mention the 2 yr thing, so I asked, if there was a change; she casually answered that two years was required. I declined at present anyway. I tried another c/s rep later, and she tried to enter it without a contract change, and said the computer kicked it out. Could you possibly check with c/s to verify no change ...

is a 6200 with vision, biggest problem I had was talk time was not great and the ring volume left something to be desired. I went back to the 4900 for talk time and speaker-phone, but that little thin phone still is great, if not over used and you don't desire the speaker phone.

Now there is a great combination, a network with some operational limitations, and a phone not only with "glitches" shall we say, and a talk time which won't make it through even moderate talk day. WEll at least now we may have a phone which can be ranked below the samsung 400's etc. You think think that samsung and others have put this idea to sprint to raise their phone ratings by other means than by making ...

NOKIA????? Speaking about feeling like a piece of plastic. I use an old Samsung, wouldn't mind going to a something new, but from what I read here the talk time on most of these tiny things isn't great--my old t-300 with new battery will always last for at least 2-3 days running 60 min of talk per day, or more. I bought a spare OEM battery, and the new battery does better than the year old battery, but ...

Re: Why does sprint charge extra .10 to forward calls
Nov 7, 2003, 7:22 PM

I was just trying to see if anyone else found this to be annoying. I have both sprint and verizon, and find the call forwarding (on verizon) very useful, and use the don't answer portion most of the time--and pay the minute charges, which seems fair (as with regular telephone service). Eventually wilkl probably get rid of the extra line and this little "pisser" may determine which one I keep. I read the posts about having a ...

Yes, I know they have charged for years: I have read on other forums, various "guesses"; this is one of the little annoyances of sprint, if I were trying to decide between one carrier or the other. I have had other carriers, who don't charge to forward, except the minutes used. Also the old bell south dcs( and I believe cingular currently) has what was called 2 in 1 forwarding in which calls would the sent to the handset, ...

Forgot, but as to the original question on the top post; I have used several samsung's (2000,3500, 6100, 8500,n200)--then by chance bought a 4700 used, for the speaker phone--it appeared to work better than any other sprint phone I had owned--i have read this may be due to the new 1g tech stuff or whatever; also own a 4900 and a 5300 (still believe the 4700 best)- Finally the question: do the new samsungs perform as well as the sanyo's. ...

I posted earlier that extending the antenna on a 4900 in digital mode seemed to change the db display to the good; with further experiment this is probably not true; but I would have bet(maybe wrong there too) that my 4700 performs noticeably better in fringe areas, with its extra long antenna, extended..AGain, further experiments with the 4700's db meter seems to show very little if any difference, antenna up or down. But, my question is, does this db meter mean ...

My question is, if we all bitch and complain, will the old site be returned: I can see advantages to both ways, the old site had much more input, be it what it was--maybe this one will grow, hopefully. Would be nice to see maybe both of them on this site.

It occurred to me that after posting a testimonial about the 4700, I remembered the test screen functions: I am not a radio tech, but I believe the rec level db is an indication of how well the unit receives, on my 4900, in a fringe area, the db goes up about 2-2.5 db when the antenna is down. Could some of you tech types advise what the rec db level indicator means?

I use both a sanyo 4700 and a 4900. In a somewhat fringe area, pulling out he 4700's antenna, make a noticeable difference in both reception. I have not noticed as much difference in the 4900-- I always thought the 4700 was the best sprint phone that I have owned.( as far as reception goes, battery life. If they would just have more than 8 one touch buttons.
