Re: Will this phone be availabe in US carriers?
There are some rumors that AT&T is testing the N95-3, but it is hard to tell if anything will come out of that...
Re: buying n95-3 8gb US
For 3G use (although you are saying you don't want to use data on AT&T), you can now buy a N95-3 which has a slot for a microSD card. In a few weeks you should be able to also buy the N95-4, which is the N95 8GB for US 3G, which has 8GB built-in memory, but no slot for a microSD card.
If you want to be sure that you are buying the right phone, look for the specific models: ...
Re: internet with wifi and no media plan
Yes, you can chose how you want to access the internet, so you can limit it to WiFi hotspots.
You can turn off the "A" of AGPS, and only use pure GPS. You will have to pre-load any maps that you expect to use, or, if you plan to use Google Maps, stay within the reach of a WiFi hotspot.

No.

If i just sign up for the unlimited data plan on AT&T or T-mobile will i be able to go online with the n95-3 with no problem?
Yes. With AT&T you will be able to use the high-speed HSDPA 3G network (if it is available in your area). With T-Mobile, you are limited to EDGE.
Re: vdp
I own a N95-3. For a discussion on best prices for N95-3 or N95-2 (aka N95 8GB) take a look at Howard forums. Dell sells the N95-2 for $640, if you have any Dell coupons, and combine them you should be able to get a pretty good price. If you want to go to a store, and you are in New York City, Mobile City Online has it for $650.
For the N95-3, Tiger Direct sells it for $500.
Re: N95 vs N95 8Gb?
As far as price goes, the N95-3 is already $499:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/application s/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3323669& CatId=1809
It is also 549 on Dell's web site, so if you find additional coupons, you can get it even lower than 499...

Well, it seems that there is N95 8GB US 3g coming soon, so that could be an option for AT&T, but I won't hold my breath...
Re: Why not 8 Gig's in a N95-3?

Re: Why not 8 Gig's in a N95-3?
Yes, I have a 4 GB card, and no, it doesn't take a long time for music to load.
Re: how do i recognize them
N95-1: Silver front, Plum or Sand back, the camera has a physical cover, flash is towards the side of the phone
N95-3: Silver front, Black or Bronze back, the camera has no physical cover, flash is towards the bottom of the phone
N95-2 (aka N95 8GB): All black, bigger screen, camera and flash are like the N95-3.
The above are ordered in increasing price order.

Will this phone be available in US carriers such as T-mobile(I have T-mobile),AT&T, Us cellular,Sprint,Verizon, etc? If so, When? Anyone know?
The only slight possibility is for AT&T to carry the N95-3. Spring, Varizon, and US Cellular all use CDMA networks, and the phone is a GSM phone. Of the two national US GSM carriers, T-Mobile is probably looking for devices that will work on their upcoming 3G network, which is incompatible with AT&T's, and I don't see AT&T adopting ...

I have two questions:
1) If I get the N95-3 to use on at&t what plan would I have to use to not avoid huge per KB charges? I’m also a huge texter and was thinking that the unlimited media net and texting plan for $39.99 would be my best bet, but is that plan compatible with the N95-3 seeing as its classified as a smart phone?
MEdiaMax plans work just fine - the N95 is a multimedia phone ...
Re: NEED HELP
MetroPCS uses CDMA technology, the N95 phones are GSM phones, so no, it will not work on MetroPCS.
Re: Active Sync
If the AT&T 8525 has bluetooth, can you pair the two devices, and send the contacts from the one to the other? Hopefully the AT&T 8525 will let you select multiple contacts to send, so you won't have to do it one by one.
Re: Active Sync
The Nokia Active Sync client is called Mail for Exchange: http://www.businesssoftware.nokia.com/mail_fo r_exchange_downloads.php
If you don't use Exchange, just Outlook, then the Nokia PC Suite will let you sync contacts with the phone.
Re: GPS and WiFi
If you are in the US or Canada, I hope you got the N95-3, as it has several improvements over the original N95-1, and supports North American 3G data speeds.
Re: GPS and WiFi
If you use WiFi at home you don't need to pay for loading the maps. You need to understand, however, that the maps in nav4all don't work the same way as the maps in Nokia Maps - you can't just say, for example, load the maps for Rhode Island, and pre-load them that way. You may be able to map a specific route while at home, and then count on the caching of the data by nav4all not to ...
Re: GPS and WiFi
1a. The GPS information (i.e. your current coordinates) is free. The phone also provides AGPS (assisted GPS) which uses cellphone data transmission to assist the GPS in locating your position. The AGPS part can be turned off if you don't have a good data plan, and getting a fast GPS lock is not important to you.
1b. The maps are a different story. If you use Nokia Maps (the free app preloaded on the phone), you can pre-load them on ...
Re: so exactly how much does this phone cost?
Howard forums has several threads with availability and prices. In the US the following seems to be a fairly good deal:

Re: recording on the n95?
Yes, there is a Recorder application on the phone, and there are several third-party apps that let you use the phone as a recording device. Or you can actually video-tape the lecture, given that the phone is capable of 640x480 30fps mp4 video recording...
Re: Why can't I stream video on AT&T wireless/ please help?
It is possible that the AT&T proxy is preventing you from seeing the youtube videos. Try the following:
Menu->Tools->Settings->Connecti on->Access points
You should see MediaNet there. Use Options->Dupicate access point to make a copy, let's call it MediaNet2.
Edit MediaNet2, and from Options->Advanced Settings change the Proxy server address to None, and the Proxy port number to 0.
Re: N95 How compatible with ATT??
All GSM Nokias are compatible with the AT&T network. What distinguishes the different models is what features they support.
N95-3 (the N95 with the US 3G HSDPA bands) supports wireless broadband (in the areas where it is available).
N95-2 (aka N95 8GB) only supports EDGE data speeds (like the iPhone).
If you plan to do a lot of browsing and downloading, and you are in a 3G area, N95-3 may be better for you.
One other thing to consider is that the N95 ...
Re: N95-1 Problems
Yes, there were/are a number of issues with the original N95-1, which have been fixed with the new N95-3 - especially the new battery. There will be new firmware updates for the N95-1 as well, which hopefully will fix any remaining issues.
Bottom line - if you are buying an N95, buy the N95-3 (NA 3G) or the N95-2 (8GB).
As for support, I haven't had a need to call support for anything yet.

Re: Why not 8 Gig's in a N95-3?
The rep at the Nokia flagship in Chicago told me the 4GB party line, and I didn't argue with him, because I knew he was wrong. Once the support for High Capacity (the HC in SDHC) is available, there is no need for new firmware all the way up to 32GB. Any microSD card larger than 2 GB is a High Capacity card. The N95-3 (and the N95-1) are working with 6 GB microSDHC and with prototype 8 ...
This is NOT the new N95-3!
Your link is to the N95-1 (plum color), which has small battery and too little memory. It also doesn't have the North American HSDPA 3G capabilities.
The new North American N95-3 comes in two colors: black and bronze.
An easy visual clue of which is which is the camera - the N95-1 has a mechanical lens cover, while the new N95-3 doesn't have a lens cover. The flash on the N95-1 is towards the side of the phone, while the ...
Re: How do I know if it's North America?
If by North American you mean the new version with larger battery, more memory, and support for North American HSDPA 3G data speeds, then no, N95-1 is not the North American version, it is the original version. The one you need to look for is the N95-3.
The reason for the long-winded answer, is that the original N95-1 also had a "North American version", but it only meant that it was officially sold in North America, and was fully ...

N95-3 with North American 3G is now available
The updated version on the N95, which includes 128 MB of RAM, 1200 mah battery, and 850/1900 MHz HSDPA has finally arrived:
http://www.mobilecityonline.com/wir eless/store/productdetail.asp?productid=22786
Online order will be shipped on Monday, but people in NYC can go to the actual store and get it today before 5 pm local time. The store will then be closed until Monday.
Note: this is no the N95-8GB version!
The US 3G version is now available (NOT the 8GB)
In case you've missed the excitement at Howard forums, this retailer has the new N95-3 with the North American 3G bands:

Online orders will not be processed until Monday, but if you are in NYC the store is open until 5pm today.
Re: Should I wait til the U.S. version to come out?
Unfortunately the rumor turned out to be false. There are, however, some encouraging signs on the Nokia USA web site:
http://www.nokiausa.com/A4546019
1. They removed the reference to the original N95
2. They finally updated the specs of the N95-3 to show the North American HSDPA support, and the larger battery.
The new information from the flagship stores seems to indicate another week or two according to this post at Howard Forums:

Re: stereo bluetooth
All you have to do is click on the "Info" tab, and look at the specs. The A2DP Bluetooth profile is the feature you want, so yes, it does support stereo Bluetooth.

Re: Um, Not Really...
The iPhone doesn't retail for $399, it is available for $399 with a two-year plan from AT&T.
Re: Should I wait til the U.S. version to come out?
Nokia is about to release the N95-3, which will have support for the AT&T and Canadian HSDPA 3G networks. For a comparison between the N95 models see
https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/p_forum.p hp?fm=m&ff=1325&fi=1375321
The N95-3 is currently listed on the Nokia USA site (but with the wrong specs), and there is information that it will be available in New York (the Nokia flagship store) on September 19th.
Re: Nope, No 3G in the US.
Not quite
Original N95, including the ones current available at Nokia flagship stores, and on the Nokia website, also called N95 US: 2.6" screen, 950mah battery, 64 RAM, no North American HSDPA, microSD slot
N95 8GB (N95-2): 2.8" screen, 1200mah battery, 128 RAM, no North American HSDPA, no microSD slot
N95 3G US (N95-3): 2.6" screen, 1200mah battery, 128 RAM, with North American HSDPA, microSD slot
Re: Nope, No 3G in the US.
Nothing strange - the N95 8GB (or N95-2) is a quad-band GSM phone, so it will work in the US. What it doesn't have is the North American WCDMA bands, so you cannot use it with the 3G (or 3.5G) data transfer in the US, only in the rest of the world.
The US 3G N95 (or N95-3) has the North American WCDMA bands, but it is not the 8GB phone.
