It looks as though there has been very little discussion in regard to the Samsung SCH-A950 lately. :? Has everyone upgraded to a new phone? What phone would you (have you) considered upgrading to and why?

I was able to create ring tones without the music kit, simply using the BITPIM freeware program, the phone driver and the correct USB cable. I have since opted for a transflash card and the Music Essentials kit so now I enjoy using all the extra features.
You can create ring tones longer than 30 seconds, but calls go to voicemail after 5-6 rings anyway, so maybe it is unnecessary to have tones more than that? ...

nugget1234567890, I find your method inferior as to what has been discussed at length in these forums . It is possible to have ringtones that sound a 100 TIMES better by not compressing the wav file to mono. In a nut shell, here's a recap as to the way I make ringtones...
1. Go out an buy the music essential kit from Verizon to get a USB phone connection cable.

I also had all the problems you described until now... I had one of the original MP3 phones and recently made a mistake renaming a sound file. I accidentally used quotation marks in my filename and my phone completely crashed; it wouldn't even boot-up! I was able to exchange my phone for the newest Windows Media crapola and I have to admit that I actually like all the new upgrades! I didn't have any luck ...
