Re: Confused (Bold 9700)
That's fine but I think the opera mini does a sufficient enough job with my Nokia e71x.
Confused (Bold 9700)
For the most part it seems the phone has gotten terrific reviews with the exception being a terrible internet. Why don't people just download the opera mini and void that issue?
Re: General Wireless Question...
I agree with that but what I meant as what customers rated as best cell coverage and also fastest data coverage. Do they have an annual award thing or something like that.
General Wireless Question...
Hey guys... Just wondering if anyone knew of a website that illustrates a fair result of best phone coverage, data coverage etc... for all the carriers. Thanks for any info.
What If...
I were to block the web, than I am assuming a data plan isn't required.
"Dumbphone" question
Is it possible to download such apps as Opera mini & google maps to a phone that's not a smartphone? Thanks for any help.
Re: Data plan screw up?
Wow, that might just be a deal crusher... All I need data is for checking mycast weather and occasionally google maps. Lol, I don't even know if 25MB is enough.
Data plan screw up?
Hey guys... I was doing some research as I was planning on switching over to Verizon in the net couple of months and I chose what appears to be a solid phone in the Motorola W766. I realize that a data plan is now required but the only options given was either a $29.99 unlimited or a $9.99 25mb... Those numbers sound like a smart phone plan rather than a simple 3G phone. Online screw up or legit?
Re: Termination Fee
I was pondering the move to Verizon. I've been having issues with drop calls this past 6 months and I use a normally reliable Nokia e71x. My girl and most of my friends and family have Verizon which would allow me to cut $10 off my text plan. Probably looking at BB or HTC.
Termination Fee
I have approx. 1 year left... I heard it now goes by how much time you have left rather than one fee at any time. Any help would be appreciated.
Well I was going to switch...
Now with this potential news I will probably think very very hard. I have ATT but would prefer better service but not looking for a unnecessarily high bill.
Couldn't you just avoid using the internet on your phone by blocking the web and avoiding metered charges? Also, doesn't this break the existing contract that people currently have with Verizon allowing them to leave without a penalty?
Nokia e71x extended battery...
Probably a dumb question but I'd rather be safe than sorry especially when it comes to polymer batteries... Was looking to get an extended battery for my e71x but all I see available is for the original e71. I am assuming it's compromable, here's the link... http://www.mugen-power-batteries.com/product_ info.php?products_id=503
Macromedia Flash Player 7 for S60?
Having issues downloading flash player for my E71x... Doesn't seem like it's available for S60 phones... Anybody have any info on that?
Re: E71x or Bold???
I LOVE my E71X... Took some time getting use to but once I downloaded some apps (Opera mini is awesome) everything came together nicely. Battery is superb, I recommend this phone to anyone...
Re: E71x ??'s
I don't think there's a shortcut key/side button that does that... I believe you have to scroll through the menu.
Re: E71x ??'s
Honestly, I love my e71x... battery is legit and i don't have a problem with 3G switching off or wifi issues either. Just took some time to get use to the OS... You may have a defective phone.
Re: AT&T Navigator...
Thanks for the info and help guys...
AT&T Navigator...
Making sure I don't get socked with extra charges... I am assuming AT&T GPS Nav. is included with the unlimtied PDA plan?

Menu > Settings > Config. > General > Personalization > Notification light
The notification light I like so I know when I have a missed something. Again, not a big deal in terms of killing the battery... Lol, I guess it just spoked me out when it's late and dark at night.
Re: Fixed...
I only had the bold for a week late last year... I didn't mind the bold (Good phone) but the battery seemed like it drained fast (Maybe a manu. defect.) The thing is I didn't use the web as much as I thought I would so the data plan was a waste... Recently I found myself desiring the web again and I was eligible for an upgrade so I went with the E71x. Great phone, battery is sick! Just ...
Fixed...
Weird, because I had all my phone book names twice (For phone and sim memory) it wouldn't tell me the name of who's calling. Once I kept my phone book with just the sim memory it worked. You're probably asking yourself why would I have copies... Because in case something happens to either the phone or sim I wouldn't lose my numbers.
Now something really weird...
For some reason my phonebook names aren't coming up when I have an incoming call... It just says the number and for the most part I don't know them by heart so I am scared to answer it incase it's someone I'd rather not speak to (Aka the boss.)

That is referred to as the breathing light. It is just to let you know that the phone is turned on. I have a standard E71 here.. so long as AT&T didn't jack up the menu structure you would go here to turn it off:
Menu - Tools - Profiles
Select Normal
Click on it and select Customize
Scroll down to Breathing Light and turn it off.
Now on regular E71's this disables the breathing light.. but it now activates a ...
Weird (Nokia E71x)
Not a big deal but when the phone goes in standby mode, they keyboard flashes a light every about 10 seconds. I guess it's a good idea when it's in a dark location it would be easier to locate, but i'm not 60+ years old/losing my sight (Lol, I apologize to any senior citizens.) Anyway to get rid of that? I ask because battery conservation is at the up most importance, although battery seems to be tremendous (In a ...
Re: Apps For Nokia e71X...
good stuff, thanks for the reply.
Re: Apps For Nokia e71X...
Got the phone today, sweet looking thing. Question... Instructions say to charge the phone until it reads complete which only takes a few hours... I was always taught to charge a phone 24 hours before using it but is it different with Lipolymer batteries?

You should update your account with the new IMEI. It won't change your contract and AT&T doesn't give two sh*ts if you use an unlocked device. If it's an AT&T marked device the warranty process would be made easier if it's on the account. They can see the IMEI you are using regardless.
But wouldn't giving ATT the new IMEI for a phone they don't have in their system (Unlocked) be pointless?

unlocked devices are covered by asurion. If it's not something att covers you are gonna get whatever the asurion rep thinks is a comparable att phone based on features/functions but they are covered.
Problem is, how is Asurion suppose to know what unlocked phone is being used if the actual carrier doesn't know? Lets say I purchased a Nokia e71 (Obviously unlocked) and ATT systems would not read my device, am I suppose to call Asurion and give ...
Re: Warranty Void?
Didn't know that, thanks for the info...

Touching on what Texaswireless said, the phone will be marked if it existed inside the AT&T set of elligible IMEIs. If it is branded AT&T and within 1 year of the original activation date then they will commonly warranty the device. In the past they asked for information about the original account it was set up on however, so you might want to keep that in mind if it wasn't new in box. Otherwise, new ...

Proof of insurance would need to be from some authorized retailer. As Ebay is not an authorized retailer that would most likely not work. Now I have sold some stock via ebay and provide a receipt showing my company name, IMEI, date of purchase, etc. that is 100% legit.
It all depends on who you bought the phone from. I am sure you know but for the home audience, you didn't buy the phone FROM ebay, ...

Insurance will cover it. Worst case you may have to fax in a proof of purchase but insurance will cover it.
Now lets say the proof of purchase was a receipt from ebay, insurance will still cover it?
BTW, thanks for all the info throughout this thread!
Re: Apps For Nokia e71X...
Thanks for the site... Didn't know the apps would work for both the e71 and e71X.
Apps For Nokia e71X...
Anyone have a good site to download from?
Re: Nokia E71x is finally out...
**BUMP**
Anyone have any luck with the "best reminder" app?

Re: Warranty Void?
Now if I were to have insurance through ATT (The $4.99/MO) I am assuming I would be covered through that?
Re: Warranty Void?
so pretty much it's better to purchase the e71x through ATT site rather than ebay? I'm eligible for an upgrade but I'd rather spend a bit more and stay out of contract...
Warranty Void?
This may be a dumb question but I figured I'd ask to be on the safe side... If I were to purchase a phone through ebay or some other 3rd party seller, would my manufacter warranty be voided? I'm not sure if the customer service rep would ask for proof of purchase or not. Thanks for any input...
Re: AT&T or Sprint???
From experience... Sprint over charge on their taxes on your monthly statement, especially compared to the other carriers. Why? I have no idea...
