:paranoid:   Hummm .. must be another "web page only" critic ! I have the TAHO .. best dumb phone I ever owned and it's made for taking a beating and doing lots of good stuff .. high quality and excellent reception in the boonies ! The Core and Max are next of kin to the TAHO.

You can pretty much tell about your coverage (provided the map is up to date) by going to Sprint site and do an address look up on coverage. As for the returning the new phones, ask them ..you may get 30 days to return.

:paranoid: If Nextel is going to survive, then why did 300K subscribers leave in the 4th QTR ..??? Lousy service, that's why. Nextel basically has left Michigan in the throws. Sprint on the other hand has improved service quality and thus I migrated from Nextel. Call quality and RF has never been better ! I guess if you live on top of the Interstate highways, your RF will always be good !

 Hey ...what do you expect ! Manufacturers insist on inventing things we didn't ask for or want ! And when they do, it's just "crappy" ..! Consider the camera in a cell phone .. 1.3 megapizels ..sheesh, may as well by a kodak flash cube ! Music .. for what, it's fidelity is hollow ..may as well listen to mono records..And this iPhone is a big joke !!

 http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/tele com/2007-01-08-sprint_x.htm  Seems the Exodus is in the Nextel base ! I really believe Sprint is "quietly" expunging Nextel for new Sprint accounts. Considering that all I had to do was "port over" and Sprint gave me a new V3M just like I was a brand new walk in ! The service performance on Nextel is really getting worse in my area. I have no idea what makes it that way. My new Sprint service is a solid 4 ...

:D Granted I am a new Sprint customer BUT I am very pleased with Sprint coverage & service, CSR's and the website. I am very critical of "service providers" and aside from a few aggravations, I am getting superior service from Sprint and I am extremely pleased with the wealth of information on the website ! I have doodled around the site for several days now (about 3 hours on the site) and have found needed information on service, ...

You betcha ..! The back of my neck is not red and I know a good hunk of hardware when I get my hands on it. And, there is also the Sprint Tutorial and online user manual. Just got my MOTO V3M ..for FREE .. and actually made $19.00, too..! And, free shipping and activation .. Signed up via the web site for the $29.99 plan; got the on-line discounts; and Jessica, came in on chat and gave me the coupon for $50 on my second months bill. Then, Sprint sent me my phone by UPS next-day air, so I could have it in time for Christmas ( I ordered it on the 22nd)..no extra shipping costs. I ...

Nextel i830 on Boost ..will it work ?
Dec 10, 2006, 8:42 AM
in the Boost forum

Supposedly, the DMCA just allowed (11/2006)customers to bring thier cellphones with them to a new carrier and that carriers can not deny a customer unlock codes and registration of the SIM card etc. Of course the phone must be technically compatible. Is anybody aware of getting a Nextel i830 working on Boost ? I have the phone and SIM and want to go pre-paid on Boost with it. Thanks ..Badfrog

Hi folks .. non-techy asking question .. I have an i830 and active Nextel account. If I buy an i880 on e-bay ..can I just switch my SIM card and work ? This would be OK with me even if I have to re-enter all my address book and stuff ..Just need to know if the phone will work.. Thank you in advance for your help.

E815 vs. i580
Jul 15, 2006, 11:27 AM
in the Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood forum

Aside from the obvious difference in carriers which phone "really" has the better RF reception. Both phones are supposed to have very good RF (if one can beleive other forum review comments)but I live in a fringe area for both Verizon and Nextel. I can upgrade my i830 (really sucks RF wise)to an i580 and stay with Nextel or wait 3 more months and switch to Verizon and get the e815. BUT .. who do you beleive ? :D ...

Yah .. I heard that about the i830 too .. but only after I had it to long to return it. Since I really don't need the camera I think i'll opt to the i760 (being like the i850). Thanks you (all) for taking the time to comment and help out. I appreciate it ..Joe

I don't have a problem with iDEN network persee. My i830 phone is horrible for reception. I live on the fringe of my service area and drop calls constantly. What I am looking for is a source that can distinguish iDEN models for capability in "reception". I have heard the i760 has excellent reception as well. But, without an exclusive technical measurement, I can't be sure which iDEN phone has superior reception capability in a fringe situation.

Thank you for suggestion but, Sprint does not offer service in Black River, Michigan. The only major carrier in the area is Nextel. I use PTT a lot to family living in Flint so changing carriers ends up as a hassle plus a $200 "got u by the gonads fine"...

Best iDEN phones for reception

I live on the "fringe" of Nextel service area and my i830 :x really is horrible with 1 or no bars and lots of dropped calls. Can somebody direct me to a source that evaluates and "rates" best iDEN phones for reception ? I am not worried about the bells and features .. but I need to do something to get better reception. Thanks in advance.
