dust behind the screen?!?
Aug 22, 2008, 1:21 PM
in the Nokia E71 / E71x forum

had the phone for a week. Dust is all up behind the screen already - i keep it in the case, never dirty or dropped... anything. Called popularelectronics where i purchased it and all they said is wait till it gets really bad and then call nokia, and wouldn't honor their return policy any ideas?

Video Playback and DVD Import Help
Aug 6, 2008, 2:04 PM
in the Nokia E71 / E71x forum

What is the best program to use to put dvd's on this phone, granted the screen is already in landscape mode shouldnt make a difference cause thats how the playback is in all nokia phones whether it reorients it or not, but the screen size is 2.36" instead of 2.4" on this phone.... DVD Catalyst still a good one? they dont really have a drop down menu for symbian phones. Any freeware to get the job done?

is it really?? I have one right now. Do you think there's some sort of software update or hack I can do to get that resolution out of the phone? Maybe in the near future???

yes, just do the software/firmware updater. It will tell you your software may or may not be up to date, but even if it is you can reload the firmware version you already have and select the english language and you're set

Re: N80 3G?
Jan 8, 2007, 12:42 AM
in the Nokia N80 forum

If you read through all of the posts for this phone on this very forum, you should be able to find the answers to almost all of your questions you are asking especially concerning the Nokia N80's 3G capabilities. Also, phonescoop has very extensive explanations on American 3G networks versus European bandwidths - including equipment compatability and even definitions and visuals. Phonescoop has proved to be a very useful tool for anyone looking to do some reasearch on a ...

N80ie?? what about us?
Nov 21, 2006, 7:43 PM
in the Nokia N80 forum

On the Nokia USA's website on the upcoming handsets tab, there shows a N80ie. Yes, this would be the internet edition of our phone, where there is no physical difference, just software. My question to anyone out there who has some input at all is: WILL US N80 USERS BE ABLE TO UPDATE OUR PHONE SOFTWARE TO BECOME THE N80 INTERNET EDITION, OR ARE WE SCREWED?? i know they already have done updates to the n80's ...

Ok, this phone looks super bad a$$!! but but but, is there no slide out keyboard on the darn phone, or is it just me not finding it, i google'd it , yahoo'ed, anything'ed it and i can't find a picture or thread or review that claims the phone to either have a keyboard that slides out or none at all...

Oct 16, 2006, 9:15 PM
in the Article: A Visual Guide to AWS forum

I know you just clarified it in like 2 or 3 different ways, and i do understand the different reasons... but will his E61 never pick up even that second half of AWS that does in fact line up? So, i guess what im asking is it ALL OF BOTH OR NOTHING AT ALL?? or will there be times or areas that a European UMTS 2100 will actually work on AWS here in the states? Sometimes even? or just ...

Re: Need Help Please - US Warranty Issue for UK Phone
Oct 15, 2006, 2:00 PM
in the Nokia N80 forum

shoot... that sucks real bad. k a couple questions: where did you buy your phone from/who/when and how. Was it a 3'rd party that may have a separate warranty policy? Did you register on Nokia's site even for the warranty with Nokia themselves? Aside from that, there is a big long deal that before the software updater begins you have to agree to, and it pretty much protects Nokia from being responsible for errors in this process, which is also ...

Harry Wild everyone! fun facts abound!!!
Oct 9, 2006, 5:40 PM
in the Article: T-Mobile Will Begin Selling 3G Next Year forum

How do some fun facts for the day sound? Well, I won't take ALL of the credit, it's actually all thanks to HaryWild for bringing it to my attention. Thanks to his rambling, threatening, and distasteful remarks - he has enlightened us once again about just how many morons walk the earth with their lawyers having to hold their hands to cross the streets these days. Motorola can't see into the future? WHAT? Why? cause i know i can... ...

I got some good news, and some bad news...
Oct 6, 2006, 11:22 AM
in the Nokia N80 forum

alright... based on where ive been reading, and also some more info thanks to engadget, i wanted to post some info now that the official press release is said and done. Good news, this T-Mobile isn't messing around with a full blown UMTS/HSDPA 3G network that they have already begun... -- yes, in fact, they had already started somewhat. This will be a quick, fast, and readily available network to finally browse on the 3G network and (possibly 3.5 ...

Firmware update available now from Nokia
Oct 6, 2006, 12:14 AM
in the Nokia N80 forum

just as the news post was made by phone scoop in mid to late-august, Nokia had opened up available firmware updates either "over-the-air" or via-PC, through Nokia PC Suite. I had been hoping to come across more phones as they have continued to expand upon their list of phones with available updates. Just today, I noticed that they have added the N80 to that ever-increasingly larger list. I'll post how well it goes as soon as I complete the ...

Oct 6, 2006, 12:05 AM
in the Nokia N80 forum

I bet I'm not the only person that is ENTIRELY AMPED about this great news!!! There are some interesting factors that I'm waiting to find out however. That's more or less why i'm looking forward to see what news can be gathered once the actual formal announcement and press release on this topic takes place. As far as I know, most of the "facts" are proven hearsay and are meaningless. I would be sooooo happy to have my n80 ...

not to contradict you really, but just wondering... if they only tend to officially release it in Europe and Asia, then why is it on nokiausa's website?? Perhaps it will be similar to the N93? will they at one point sell the n95 from nokia directly so we don't have to rely on having to go to indirect 3'rd party dealers?? just hoping for clarification on all this super exciting stuff... oh oh and one more thing, ... , do ...

I don't care about the price tag... or at least too much. Hell, make it 300 bucks more and i'd still buy it with no regrets at 1G. I don't know if im the only one here that has noticed it (i highly doubt im alone on this one) but no matter how baddd a$$ the phone is and every single company is subject to the same fault: there is at least one major point missing!! This phone marks ...

Re: will the US version support video calling?
Sep 23, 2006, 5:29 PM
in the Nokia N80 forum

try reading through a lot of the already posted forums that already discuss the development of this question. You might find some pretty helpful stuff. Anyways, correct me if im wrong, but as far as the video calling goes, depending on the network you're using, is not going to work ever with the n80. The n80 is WCDMA 2100. There is no such frequency in the states unless NY is super suprisingly awesome that i had no clue about.

Chainsaw... Its interesting how you decided to post a reply to a question, but find the means to do so without once touching upon the subject at hand. Let me say this for starters- there is a time and a place for everything. And there is very rarely a time and a place for ignorance. Try to take advantage of what this forum has to offer and not deface it with pointless you know what. now moving forward, ...

just a side note - id be careful in assuming a BB bought and sold by a carrier will include WiFi. Just take a look at all the main companies - Cingular, Verizon, T-Mobile, etc. and i cannot even count on both my hands and feet how many devices could/should have had WiFi and that feature was removed before bought from the manufacturer.

hahahah - careful, there are good motorola's and "you-know-what" Nokia's... however, i know what you mean. The Reception has proved to be a step above even the T509. Now whether that's saying much or not is up to you. However, the phone has performed well so far in its short lifespan on the streets, and the "high-er to midrange" Samsungs all typically have excellent reception. The one thing im still curious about more importantly is the call clarity, which ...

Re: A2DP ?
Sep 14, 2006, 7:10 PM
in the Samsung SGH-T519 Trace forum

yes, the stats do say that it has A2DP. However, there is probably a good reason the phone is only 99 bucks with a contract from t-mobile. I tried to play music through a headset and it wouldn't work either so you're not alone. Im not going to say 100 percent positive that it doesn't have A2DP, but just because the phone is supposed to have it doesn't mean that it will have it. Carriers can sit there with ...

This phone is incredible. Just played with it for a bit. Put my sim card in, made a few calls, put some music on it. Now i want it! in the Nokia N80 forum

hhmmm... i dunno. I guess if you're this close and it doesn't kill you to wait it couldn't be a terrible thing to wait for it so long as it does come out this month or at least next month maybe. What I'm thinking is that Nokia isn't going to abandon those who it sold the "regular" N80's to by not providing a firmware/software upgrade, so even if you did get it right now, as I already have one ...

I don't know how this phone can be such a dissappointment in comparison with that series of old Black Berry devices. This is a, and no this can't be stressed enough, HUGE HUGE HUGE deal for not even new bb users, but any phone consumer in the market for an email phone. Tell me there's no better thing for RIM lovers than a black berry device similar in size to the ever-droolled upon RAZR (not baggin on the RAZR ...

your very welcome. Everyone on this site and forum for all of phonescoop is always very helpful even if just asking the right questions. I know ive gotten some of my answers that i coulnd't find anywhere else from someone on this site. I know its a error in using the term "technology" as some may call it including a namely few at Motorola, however, you can always find what "technology" the phone is, its included in the description of the phone (i.e. quadband GSM WCDMA 2100) almost 100% of the time, and if not, look at the box, its under the IMEI label on the white sticker on the side of the box saying if it does have any, it will ...

No, none of these questions are ignorant... lol no worries. Ok, now if and when you buy the phone, here are some things to consider as well as be able to tell which "version" the phone is. You will most likely save money if you buy from ebay, but keep in mind there arent guarantees on the product, there will be no warrantee, nothing. Im not saying there are no such thing as good purchases out there on ebay, ...

oh.. and a quick add-on to what i said earlier - 3 HUGE pluses of the N80, well i guess if you value these 3 things as i know i do = the screen resolution is ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE, crystal clear and easily maintained. Webbrowsing is sweet as well. The text is fit on the width of the screen even though they are able to maintain "real" web-browsing (watch the video review, its darn cool). Lastly, especially since i have ...
