Extended life battery went 14 hours w/o usage (standby). I sent the phone back to Verizon warehouse as defective and pulled out another 8500. The second phone has now gone 5+ days on the STANDARD battery with calling and occasional MP3 usage (to show off to friends and "non-Verizon" customers :wink: ). Second phone is making me a believer!

It just went 3 for 3 last night on less than 9 hours per charge....and no phone calls last night. I'm putting it on a brand new extended life and seeing what happens. If it kills the extended life as well it gets sent back to the warehouse as defective tomorrow.

Are you kidding me? Did you copy and paste that from the Cingular website? I deal with Verizon, Sprint/Nextel, Unicel, Alltel in my area and I'll tell you right now I wouldn't take anything other than a Verizon phone out for traveling. Cingular's geographic coverage is absolutely horrible. Who cares if you cover "the highest possible population"...I want a carrier that has geographic coverage where there are no people so I can call for help on the phone...not simply ...
Battery Life issues?
I am wondering if anyone else is having battery life issues with this bad boy. I have now fully charged the battery 2x on the home charger to get best charge and had the phone be totally dead within 12 hours each time. I thought maybe it was just from all the playing around with settings, toying with the music player, etc. on the first day (new toy syndrome I'm sure we all have). Yesterday I charged the phone ...

This phone is MP3 capable, just no Bluetooth or expandable memory. Has some very decent stereo speakers to use with the MP3 player much like the LG VX8100/8300.
