as a Note... there are not Nextel contracts... if you sign up for the hybrid phone you are signing to SPRINT Nextel, not Nextel... as an entity, Nextel is gone.. absorbed.. "this bird is NO MO" (to quote Monty Python)... IF you have a current Sprint PCS phone you can UPGRADE to a Hybrid CDMA/iDEN phone (thus the hybrid portion) and renew your contract with Sprint.. YOU WILL have to be moved from the old billing system to the newer ...

on CDMA service... hopefully not.. on PTT.. you might still get "User Not Available"

and to that, it's not really a PTT, it's more a half-duplex phone call simulated as a PTT call... phone calls are full-duplex which allow for those annoying conversations that have two people trying to out-talk each other.. half-duplex is one way conversation until the other let's up or tires out... Kodiak uses the same concept as VoIP, except it's VoLL (landline) again, the system is at the Users' mercy... full system means lots of fun delays iDEN dedicates it's PTT ...

Dec 1, 2006, 10:49 AM
in the Motorola ic502 Buzz forum

to Note... the majority of the Sprint PCS market is covered under 1900Mhz formatting... 800Mhz is typically for low market level coverage (the boonies as some might call it) and is purely Analog... to say it would give better coverage if the hybrid had 800Mhz coverage would be like saying the Razr would be better if it was bigger and bulkier... and had an antenna

What's wrong with CDMA PTT, the same thing that's wrong with Cingular and Verizon PTT.. it's called lag time... there is a 1-6sec relay delay between pushing the button, opening a channel and reach your intended contact. In theory, it's VoIP PTT, but with the overflow on the Data Network, it's at the mercy of capacity and user tendencies. iDEN PTT, it a fully dedicated 800 (for WiDEN 900) RMS network that has NO other traffice going over it when using ...

this was not in reply to anything you said... and Sprint is two companies in one.. so it does not autmoatically happen anymore nor will it with the UBP... P.S. for those who qualify? wouldn't that mean that some people would have to ask... especially if they are on a spending limit since not ALL qualify?

Re: Unlimited Talk Code

Tennessee: what's the use of having a phone service if you're not going to pay for it? We all want to freeload off someone else, but the end question is, is it right? If you feel it's too much, there are plenty of other provides that you can utilise. The codes are meant for betas, special/emergency circumstances and limited internal Boost staff, if you don't have it, you're not meant to.

it needs to be reactivated and the code needs to be re-entered... called into care and have services restored....

Re: Does anyone know if the unlimited chirp code is real?
Jun 7, 2006, 1:38 PM

There is a reason companies set limits on certain services. Any codes not publicly distributed are not distributed for a reason. Any holding of proprietary codes is illegal and may not be distributed. P.S. the poster above you just mentioned that the code would lock you or block you... so it's not really serving a purpose for your need. There is a plan rolling out to give you unlimited DC for a flat fee per month... spend ...

Re: Nights at 7pm?
Jun 7, 2006, 1:32 PM
in the Virgin Mobile forum

Virgin Mobile USA is an MVNO (ONE of the first and largest)... MVNO in essence means that they borrow network space and services from a main carrier and then resell it (prepaid or postpaid) to the consumer... what one does usually doesn't not mean the other will do.. both are independent and inter-relate only so far as financials (compensations and payments for fees rendered via contract)

Re: ?
Jun 7, 2006, 1:10 PM
in the Virgin Mobile forum

this would greatly depend on the usage... the virginmobileusa.com website will give you the specifics to the service fees.. but suffice it to say.. for my daughter I fill up her phone with minute usage about once every (2) months. Nights & Weekends are free, text messages inbound are free, but $.10 outbound, there are net charges for downloads and ring tones (my suggestion is that you CLEARLY state the house rules on usage for the phone... say ...

no you silly fool.. VZW is ominpotent and omnipresent.. that's why they back you up with an unreasonable number of support personnel (a la commercials) and pass you around like a spent joint. Not to mention that Wirless, Landline & DSL couldn't get on the same page if they tried.

Re: Higher Spending Limit?
Jun 7, 2006, 12:57 PM

if it's been more then 6 months you can ask for a credit review... based upon your payment habits they might extend the amount.. if you've met your contract and have rarely to never missed a payment or exceeded your spending limit (shut off or service interruption) then again... call in for a credit review... can't hurt but to try

as a 10 going on 11yr employee, I'll tell you right off the bat, working in care is not going to get you more money... benefits are decent, tution reimbursement, of course the free services phone, etc, etc.. however... there are still many changes taking place due to the merger and now the separation of Embarq from Sprint Nextel. Plus we have acquisitions taking place in the coming months that will change the scope of things. My suggestion ...

Re: switching the name

that doesn't work in reverse.. the companies are essentially still separate... Sprint's credit policy is easier going then Nextel's.. so it might work one way but no the other..

Re: switching the name

it all depends on your credit rating.. at 18, you should have little to know deposit based on little to know credit activity... I suggest you maintain your current account structure until you have some quality credit established or repaired if need be

I understand that.. but do you recall the i930 debacle of 2006? since when have you known an iDEN product to come out on time? I'll let know you know the definite date by thurs...

Re: Looking for new phone or service...where is Sprint/Nextel Going?

I beg to differ... it hasn't been released because it is still in trial in Schamburg IL (they haven't even finalised colour patterns), or it would have been released already. if it's not until Oct, that because it has to be approved by Sprint engineering and the FCC, thus a beta.. or trial... "yes we can" And like anything else OCT is not a set date.. it's a timeframe.. trust me late Q4 early Q1 07...

Re: Service not carried in my area.
Jun 6, 2006, 11:51 AM
in the Nextel forum

nationwide does not mean 100% coverage even in small towns... no carrier has that.. and Verizon says no roaming on their CDMA network, but they do roam on the old Analog network which covers a lot of "small town" territories. Unfortunately, that would cost you a fortune. I would check your local store or mall to see who appears to provide the most STORE FRONT coverage for the area and purchase from them.

That in the market is called "a busy body" ha.. hey.. I've been known to do it and I work for one of the 5 top carriers. You can't help but correct mis-information, sometimes you actually encourage the sale by correcting the false data.

ever play the game of craps.. you roll the dice and it's all pot-luck from there. check out the reviews on phones an carriers here and on zdnet.com. Then make your best educated guess

dual mode is still in trial and should be rolled out by late Q4, possiblely Q1 '07... it will consist of CDMA-PCS voice with iDEN walkie-talkie and EVDO net services. The handsets are still in production and made more for topline consumers (business/government/education/military) then individual consumers.

activation fees are usually non-refundable, but call in again and provide your paperwork... so you got charged for the cancellation fee, pro-rated amount, activation fee, taxes, fees. etc and came away with just $36 & 3days pro-rating? I think you've barked up this tree enough.

i710 is a downgrade from the i730 the i760 is an upgrade from the i730 which had reported problems with signal strength and power cut off problems.

I wouldn't go based on that... fraud get's sent to legal, legal attempts to resolve at minimum cost, then writes it off... the write off is purchased by a 3rd party that pays for delinquencies and write offs and pursues the recollection of said paid for funds with gusto.
