Re: ESPN MVP
hmm, on my LG 8300 it has a "get going" menu. My "get extras" does the same thing as yours. I checked VZW's site and next to my phone it has ESPN MPV listed to the side, but the RAZR2 doesn't. Surely it would work on any VCAST capable phone though. Have you called customer service?
Re: ESPN MVP
It's under "Get going" in the Get it Now menu.
Re: Video Conversion
It's fine, I got it from there, but the link is busted now and it sends you back to the main page. Try this one, the download links are at the bottom: http://www.erightsoft.net/S6Kg1.html
Re: mobile web
It's $5/mo plus airtime, or you're charged by the minute if you don't have the plan.. can't remember how much it is per minute. Also, it is included as part of the $15/mo Vcast service.
Re: Business Ringtones
I personally use "loud beep once". It repeats itself for a call. It's nice and conservative.
Re: What's the point of live video sharing?
On the Youtube video of the live video sharing, they're using LG CU500's that have a rotating lens, so you can use it as a true video phone right? But then in the article it says Cingular doesn't want you to be able to do that??
Re: How do you dial???
I'm wondering the same thing. Surely you don't have to keep it open during a call either.
What's the point of live video sharing?
Why would you only want to see what the other person is seeing, but not the other person? You can easily have a true video conferencing phone, yet you don't want manufacturers to have a lens on the inside or at least one that rotates to face the user? And if you turn the phone around so the other person can see you, then you can't see them.. catch 22. Answer me this Cingular.
Re: Video Conversion
Have you formatted the card with the phone to create those folders, and are you using a card reader or USB cable?
Re: Convert 3g2 video to avi/mpeg?
You can use Quicktime to view them on your computer. To convert them you can use this program: http://www.erightsoft.com/S6Kg1.html Download links are at the bottom.
Re: Bluetooth Echo Problem, any ideas? - HUGE PROBLEM
Refer to MORTFE's reply for the difference in numbers. As far as the long drawn-out prompts, you can change this in the voice command menu under settings, then choice list, then off. This way it won't ask you to confirm it. You would just say "call John work" and it will dial. Also under settings, then prompts, then tones only, it won't say "please say a command", only beep.
Re: Music player question - Working, Not Working.
I don't have a clue about why it works and then doesn't work, but you can change the equalizer by pressing the voice command/flash button on the left of the phone. 3D Surround sounds the best to me for everything. This is why I haven't upgraded from v01 because the Vcast player doesn't have an equalizer, and the 3D Surround sounds so much better than Flat.
Re: Battery charging
hmm, mine does not do that, but I still have version 1 of the software. Do you have version 2 or 3? Could it be a change with that? You never noticed it before?
Re: Speakerphone/Voice Dial (old vs new tech)
Yeah you have the same phone as my brother. He never said he could do that, pretty cool. And yes you can change it to where it just beeps instead of "please say a command". In the voice commands menu it's under settings, then prompts.
Re: Speakerphone/Voice Dial (old vs new tech)
There's no way to use the speakerphone with it closed because the microphone is only on the inside. Which Verizon phones will allow you to do that?
With the voice dial, you can still use the single entry per person and have their cell, home, work, email, etc all in there. When using the voice dial you would say "John home" and it will recognize it. If it's not sure exactly what you said it will ask "did you say ...
Re: Snooze Time
I'm afraid not. It's annoying I know. I'm sure LG's original software for the phone would have let you. Way to go VZW!
Re: Voice Command Question
Just hit the button on the left side of the phone with the microphone etched in it. From there you can change the options to suit your needs.
Re: VX8300 or RAZR V3M? Which iS better?
Frankly, Verizon's version of the RAZR really sucks. The software is slow and the battery is pathetic. The 8300 is leaps and bounds better at everything, and it's still a small phone considering how much it does. Things that I know the 8300 has and the RAZR does not:
-very good battery life
-stereo speakers
-camera has a flash
-there are 2 Flash-based display themes that make it look a lot nicer
-keys are not flat, so you can actually feel the different buttons ...
Re: Problem with "homemade" ringtones
Yeah I'm not having problems making the mp3. It appears to be something with the network or my phone. Just wondering if anybody else has had the same problem.
Re: Problem with "homemade" ringtones
I was just cropping out a portion of an mp3 to use as a ringtone, then emailing it as an mp3 to my phone. I wasn't recording it into the speaker.. not sure what you mean by that. I've only gotten one to sound like it does on my computer once it gets to the phone. Tried all sorts of file sizes, audio quality, and lengths.
Re: outside buttons
I'm confused on your choice because the 5300 is not a mp3 player, so that would mean you don't want a phone with a mp3 player right? And if the 8300 has no mp3's loaded on it then the front buttons aren't going to do anything anyway.
Problem with "homemade" ringtones
Anyone else have problems when making your own ringtones and sending them to your vzxpix.com address? Out of about 6 or 7 tries, I've only gotten 1 to sound normal on the phone. The others sound like a transistor radio.
Re: outside buttons
nope
Battery life vs 9800
Anyone notice this has a smaller battery, yet a slighly longer talk time and a MUCH longer standby time than the 9800? Did they make the front screen worse like the 8100 vs 8300 or something? My 8300 battery lasts forever just because of the outside screen as far as I can tell.
Re: Missed call alert
My old 9800 did, so I'm sure this one does too.
Re: EVDO clarification
EVDO is the high-speed network, don't have to pay extra for it. It's part of the coverage. It has nothing to do with using the phone as a modem, just means it will be faster if you're in a EVDO area. You can check on Verizon's site (broadband coverage area on the map) to see if you're in it, or if you have a EVDO capable phone it will show the signal meter for it. It's only in major ...
Re: I Send files to my 10digitnumber@vzwpix.com and doesn't work?!
are you sure there wasn't just a glitch on the way that wouldn't let it receive it? i've sent 3 to mine in the last couple days and it received them about 10 seconds after sending. have you tried it again?
Re: problems with flash on camcorder mode
you can't use the flash while using the camcorder. pics only.

Re: FIRST PICTURES FROM THE PHONES CAMERA!
No one seems to realize that the amount of megapixels is basically just the size of the photos. The real difference is mainly in the lens the camera uses. That's why camera phones have always and will in the near future be inferior to real digital cameras. Notice how blurry the photo is compared to any real digital camera. Even the old clunky Sony 1.2 megapixel cameras that use floppy disks take much better photos than that. So just ...
Re: External Display question
no the external screen never comes on when you open the phone.
Re: mobile web 2.0 question/concern
yeah i don't know of any way to make it go back to the previous page, but if it's saved in your favorites then it shouldn't take that long to access it would it? do you not have a lot of mins on your plan? this phone is so much more than that though and really shouldn't be an issue :)
Re: 8300 features
yes it has it. it's under the options for voice command. you can have it keep repeating the name/number or have it announce it once and then go to your ringtone.
Re: Manner mode??
hold down the * key
Re: 8300 Charging port
If you look at the end of the old charger plug you'll see 3 raised places on the part that goes inside the phone. The middle one keeps you from plugging it into the 8300 so if you cut it out it'll go in.
Re: International?
Isn't CDMA a U.S. only thing, and GSM is the standard just about everywhere else? If that's the case then no. I know Verizon has a loaner phone deal if you're traveling out of the country, so maybe the one they give you is GSM capable.
Re: Lets just help each other out!Where do you live at?
To all of those that can't buy them in the store yet: just order it online (use zip code 35242 if it doesn't show up with yours). This way you also get an instant $50 rebate instead of a mail-in rebate, and it's free shipping.
Re: 8300 Charging port
Scratch my previous post then. I don't know why I thought it was shorter, just knew it wouldn't go in. Now I can use my old car charger yay. :)
Re: Swishing Sound?
Yeah mine does it too. My 8300 also does it, so it must be software related. Hopefully an update will fix it.
Re: Speaker Phone when closed?
How was it possible with the 8100? The only microphone is on the inside, so I don't see how it would work too well..
