I personally don't see anything wrong with it. Whats the most popular single phone on the market? The iPhone. Whats the most popular storage capacity for that phone? The 16gb. What does the iPhone not have? a removable battery. Its really not that complicated to see why HTC went this route. It makes the phone slimmer to have non removable battery, and with only 16gb of internal storage you can justify and 199.99 price ...

Good luck if your phone locks up and power+volume down doesn't work to reset your phone. I will NEVER own a phone without a removable battery. Yes HTC sense hogs resources more than blur. Blur is a skin. It has no features and adds very little to the user experience. If you add in the fact that you have to download a facebook widget, calendar widget, messaging, email and everything else Sense does, you would ...

I think the question was whether or not you can stop them from throttling your data. There was a not throttle hack for the DX, but I don't think we have one for the Thunderbolt yet.

yeah unfortunately Root is required to make any system change like the boot animation sound. As far as taking screen shots, you can do this without rooting your phone. But its done on the PC http://www.androidcentral.com/taking-scre enshots-without-root there is a link on the page I linked to about how to setup the sdk on your computer.

Try a factory reset. Some folks over at AndroidForums have had success. FYI I would always recommend a full wipe after any software update. Just seems to cut down on a lot of headaches later.

I can't believe Verizon has the nerve to charge 300 bucks for this phone! ITS A FASCINATE PEOPLE. Exact same internals with an added 4g radio. They upped the display but not enough that a side by side comparison could tell them apart. anything with less than 512 mb of ram is a joke! Spot on wjspector with the slow and cartoonish UI. Touchwiz is by far the worst of all mfg. UIs.

Actually the revo and the bionic are both dual core phones while I know for sure the htc is the same ole snapdragon . Not sure about the sammy. And I know for sure the bionic will have pc grade ddr2 ram. To me it seems the bionic isbthe phone to beat. Did u really have a doubt that moto would have the best hardware.

Internal webpage of Verizon's intra net confirmed that there will be no pre orders, and that your CONTRACT must end by 12/31/2010 in order to upgrade to the Droid X or any other smartphone offered by verizon.

the droid x uses a newer processor that consumes less power than the inc. also the X comes with a 1500 mAh battery while the inc only comes with a 1300. All reviews from people with the phone have touted it to be above average for an android device.

Ummm yeah, unless your "friend" works directly with the higher ups in product testing, I doubt he knows anything about the future capabilities of this phone. You should really stop spreading misinformation. BTW the tethering feature for verizon is NOT 40 bucks it will be 20 as stated in the official news conference the day the X was announced.

Re: I really hate the term Droid...Its ANDROID.
May 30, 2010, 11:53 PM
in the Article: Verizon Launching Two New Moto Droids In July forum

Droid is a marketing term for a particular line of "android" phones. Nobody calls the G1 a droid, or the nexus one a droid. Motorola and Verizon got together and wanted to make this their flagship phone to introduce the android platform to Verizon Wireless customers. They came up with a pretty genius marketing campaign if you ask me. Nice attempt at trolling tho! :D

Verizon pushed the DROID hard and are beggining to push the Incredible the same way. I'm not sure what you're talking about with the Eris. The only commercial I ever saw for the Eris was put out by HTC, similar to the mytouch commercials. Both the Droid and the Eris have huge following however, and if Samsung would get off their asses and produce enough displays, the Incredible will soon follow.

Re: Adjusting Vibration
May 27, 2010, 7:00 AM
in the HTC Droid Eris forum

The vibration on this phone is horrible. by far the worst of any phone I've owned. For text msgs, I believe handscent has an option to change the vibrate pattern. I'm not sure if any of the dialer apps (dialer one for example) allow you to set vibrate patterns or not, but without root there is no way to make any of them the default dialer. I haven't messed with any of the email programs (touchdown,k9, etc..) so I ...

I agree with most everything you said, with the exception of the task killer. If you have an app that does not shut down properly by way of using the back soft key or thru a menu option in the app itself, I can see the need to "kill" the task. But 2.1 for the eris comes with menu option under application>running services to kill those apps natively. But in using a task killer and killing all those ...

And if swype has anything to do with it, it won't be available "officially" on the market ever. Per one of there customer service reps: "currently our business model is to make swype available as a native application to come direct from the factory, and preloaded on the phone. We do currently offer a beta program for android devices that you can sign up for blah blah blah...." Longer than a text message? Email maybe? ...

all this talk about keyboards and swype hasn't been mentioned? :o LOL btw I would take the experience on the storm2's on screen keyboard and compare it to anything with a capacitive display. First off you don't have to click the screen. The display on the droid/eris/incredible is so acurate it blows everything else out of the water. As far as onscreen keyboards go, stock android is ok, but htc's keyboard is great. Whats ...

This phone isn't going to blow experienced android users away, but makes a great mid-range device for users coming from other smartphone platforms or new to smartphones all together. This phone gives android something it was sorely missing too. A phone with an outstanding PHYSICAL keyboard. If you have a droid or an incredible this phone isn't for you (and it was never intended for you) But if your coming from a Blackberry, WinMo, or a feature ...

As of right now the Android support community is very deep for the Droid. Its a proven handset with a TON of opttions for making it better (rooting, overclocking the proccessor to over 1ghz, custom roms) The keyboard is horrible, but I've fully converted to touch screen typing (especially with swype

Re: Why no Camera upgrade, LG?
May 17, 2010, 2:07 PM

Well I bet the flash is better as the Dare was only a single LED while the Ally will be dual LED. I also imagine the zoom function will be great as well if for no other reason than the processing power of the phone. I've seen some test photos taken from the Ally and they look good.

I've been an LG fan since since I've owned a cell phone. They have always made a quality product. Say what you want about Moto (Krzr anyone? lol) but they did alot of things right with the Droid. Very solid hardware and just a beast of a phone (size and speed). Its hard for me to bash HTC ,especially since I love my Eris. Its been great for everything I've used it for except a phone (phone goes silent ...

May 17, 2010, 1:48 PM
in the LG Ally / Apex / Axis forum

My wife has and Env3 with a 3mp camera and it takes better pictures than my Eris at 5mp. Megapixels are everything. If you want a wallpaper for your phone, a contact photo, maybe some quick uploads to facebook, than 3+ mp is more than sufficient. Anything over that just makes the file size bigger without really adding much quality. If you need quality pictures, its best to just stick with a digital camera.

Also just for everyone's information. There is a way to hold off the OTA and copy it from the phone before you dl and install it on your phone. Please check http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/77290 -people-about-do-update.html for the steps on how to do this.

I wasn't just stating that "I don't think any android phone can" for nothing. the problem with voice recognition over blue tooth is the the Android OS "as a whole" doesn't support it.
