Number One Reason for Quad-HD

Screen Capture Sharing. The actual image captured is more dense and stands up to image expansion on larger monitors and of course Quad HD devices. Now you have a reason to desire the new standard. :D

Now Sony has released four consecutive identical phones.

Meh. I had a Z1s that was slightly superior to the Z1 and had twice as much RAM as the Z2 and now comes... the Z3, with hopefully as much RAM than the Z1s, the sorta same camera (more or less) and an equivalent screen resolution. Why?

Difference between OIS and Non-OIS images should have been quantified.

That difference is something that regular consumers cannot test. Given the past comments regarding phone details like pen tile LCD pixels, the width of bezels, and uneven display scrolling the ability to identity differences in image quality should have been too compelling to pass up. Furthermore, if there is actually zero difference between cameras, regardless how images are taken, that is a scoop in and of itself, because Apple would be guilty of false advertising. Hopefully, these cameras will ...

in the Article: Review: Kyocera DuraPlus for Sprint forum

The speakerphone performance AND general poor telephone performance is a DEAL-KILLER that is a major fail for this model. All it does is talk, and it is thoroughly disappointing as a phone. It is incapable of satisfying even the most eager tough-phone/PTT enthusiast. I returned it after trying several times to record a clean voice mail announcement and after two additional days of listening to people asking me to repeat myself when using the speaker-phone microphone. This phone is ...

WHAT Update?!
Mar 22, 2011, 4:23 PM
in the Article: 'NoDo' A Go from Microsoft forum

I am so tired of reading about how an update is available for the Windows Phone 7 OS. I own one and the Zune software states that I am up to date. Somehow I cannot update anything. I guess I need an iPhone to get an update to my OS. For WP7 users, the LACK of updates are more newsworthy than the alleged availability of a VAPO-date to our phones.

You are correct regarding the XBox Live and Netflix experiences. My favorite WP7 is actually the wonderful Zune interactive software :D . Zune is the finest multimedia management system I have used. Its rock solid and far more entertaining than iTunes, although glaring WP7 shortcomings like the lack of a File Browser do tax my patience.

What would really be useful, would be if Sprint uses this type of software to...

Even the vaunted iPhone 3GS has only about 200 megabytes of RAM available under supreme, unrealistic, never occurring optimal conditions so be kind to the fledgling Android devices. If you "jailbreak" your Apple device you can expose exactly how perilously low an iPhone's free RAM can fluctuate. Once freed from memory clogs, the iPhone 3GS runs much smoother.

Furthermore, the MetroPCS Corporate Store sales persons, managers and customer service personnel do not comprehend what 3G data is at all. They cannot explain why the speed is limited to 1xRTT and are quite amused/disinterested in finding out why the speed is limited in New York City; then openly wonder why anyone would ever ask?

The End of Apple Dominance of Smart Phones is at Hand
Oct 11, 2009, 11:36 AM
in the Techs & Trends forum

The iPhone 3GS is a brilliant device, almost magical in its ability to render graphics, toy with audio and jump from app to amazing app with such poise and grace that all other smart-phone developers must "kiss the ring" before exposing their next attempt at a serious contender. What those of us old enough to remember have learned from the past is that a single hardware manufacturer, with complete control over the creation and distribution of their product, no ...

Sprint is my favorite carrier. I cannot abide Verizon and AT&T rates. Nor do I have the patience to endure the dropped calls and unintelligible, noisy conversations on iPhones that are permanently trapped on the inferior American GSM network. Verizon's phones are not noisy (with hiss and artifacts) like those on AT&T or T-Mobile, but their rate plans are unapologetically outrageous. Thanks Sprint, for being the pocketbook savior and anti-noise crusader.

Sprint Telesales Representatives do not even know what device this is, nor can they locate any research information on this model after a few minutes of Telesales conference huddles among co-workers. Furthermore, Best Buy Mobile doesn't claim this model either, being equally dumbfounded when questioned. :?

Thank you very much to everyone that participated in this impromptu discussion. I originally wrote my statement to encourage discussion and do realize that selection of a mobile phone service provider is a highly personal matter, heavily based on past experiences. Of course it is ultimately the decision of the bread winner with the cash to spend on whatever device and services suit his/her needs. The responses I have read were poised, sometimes passionate and very informative. Obviously, fans ...

in the Article: RIM Announces the Dual-Mode Tour for Sprint and Verizon Wireless forum

As I stated in an earlier message. Sprint provides the best service for my area. Service is location dependent. Pricing is universal. The opportunity for fair comparison can only be made in areas of equivalent coverage with equivalent equipment. Most metropolitan areas will suffice. Besides, VZW and Sprint devices can freely roam into each other's territory with correct roaming settings enabled. However, the availability of 3G dependent options will be curtailed when roaming. Because Sprint's 3G footprint is so ...

Actually I wrote "Sprint has no directly competitive answer to several highly rated VZW devices." I never wrote that Sprint was incapable of competing. I only mentioned that they were not offering equivalent devices to several of the staple VZW phones. I should have even added the LG Dare to the original listing. From your statement I take it that there is a manager at Sprint that is repeatedly failing to select develop and promote the very devices that ...

PS: The Verizon release of the BlackBerry Storm last year was virtually inexcusable. I personally don't consider that device to be a VZW asset. Its overall performance is truly un-BlackBerry-like.

Actually, I am aware of the big red visual interface that VZW places on its devices. However, when honestly comparing the handsets offered by both companies, I find that there is a VZW answer for each desirable handset/PDA sold by Sprint (with the current sole exception being the Palm Pre - temporarily.) Conversely, Sprint has no directly competitive answer to several highly rated VZW devices, like the LG Versa, LG enV Touch, LG enV 3 and the Samsung Alias ...

Verizon has so far been very cleverly shuffling away premium devices over to the "red" with iron-clad exclusivity agreements. Their phones are soooo appealing 8O , modern, well constructed and flashy that consumers are drawn :-)... to the sexy hardware/software while ignoring the dry-hump  price-gouging techniques that the slick, customer friendly, well-skilled sales teams saddle new customers with on the way out of the store. :) On Wednesday, Decmber 17, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. after getting an RMA to return the device and putting service back onto my Nextel i365 I tried one of the troubleshooting techniques that had previously failed when suggested by a BlackBerry technician. :( Its now Wednesday morning at 9:16 am and a persistent error (estimated wait time of two to four hours to clear) is still preventing me from using my phone. This time, I only waited about forty minutes before talking to a Nextel BlackBerry specialist. Last night the wait times were about 61 minutes before getting through to a BlackBerry specialist. Note: The BIS database was not updated with information on a significant number of BlackBerry 8350i telephones (like mine) ...

I wiped my handheld and got my radio to stay on. No data connection yet though. I'm currently on a 28 minutes (and counting) hold for a BlackBerry representative again. So far, its been three hours since the device arrived by UPS delivery and I haven't been able to make one telephone call yet. On the bright side, all of this "down time" has given me a chance to fully charge to new lithium ion battery... Oh yes, ...

Is anyone else having major Nextel BB 8350i activation errors and strange network behavior?
Dec 16, 2008, 9:19 PM
in the BlackBerry Curve 8350i forum

:? Now my Nextel BlackBerry 8350i radio will not stay on. At first it wouldn't connect to any part of the network, for voice or data. I couldn't change PINs on the BIS site because my IMEI and PIN were not recognized as those of a Nextel device. The wait times for customer service are greater than one hour each time I call (before being disconnected after getting very standard and ineffective troubleshooting advice from representatives.) Something stinks ...

Nice Treo 650 Review
May 12, 2007, 10:11 PM
in the Article: Video Tour: Treo 755p forum

The Palm OS is very familiar to most smartphone users, so a review of the new Treo 755p should focus on any improvements on the Treo 700p. In comparison to the Treo 700p... Is the screen brighter/whiter? Is the speaker louder/less distorted when playing ringtones or using the speaker phone? Does it handle MIDI files with elegance? Are the system fonts different or more anti-aliased? Is the speaker-phone full or half-duplex? Is there improved handling of the "push enterprise messaging?" How does the smaller SD-Mini card fare ...

Re: Treo 650 at T-Mobile?
Jan 2, 2005, 11:18 AM
in the Palm Treo 650 (GSM) forum

Us T-Mobile types (me too) will have to wait. If you can recall the agreement between PalmOne and Sprint, (made when the Treo 650 was finalized and approved by the FCC); Sprint would sell the phone exclusively until the first quarter of 2005. Most definitely Sprint paid big bucks for this power play and it results in a scenario similar to a toy store that attracts Christmas gift shopping customers with a limited time exclusive on a hot new ...
