Guys... this is a Blackberry alternative/competitor. Why the heck would you want to bother with this if you already have a BB? Go get another phone unless you are considering replacing your BB with a Q.
*NOT calling the Q better than BB - I don't know that*
I just know that having this and a BB seems like a total waste to me, seeing they're supposed to do the same thing, more or less.

We've got it running here, but I have no way at all of knowing who has a device set up for direct push without searching every damn user in my environment. THAT makes it not ready for prime time. Yes, that's how. But you need your email admin to be running Exchange 2003 with Service Pack 2. Then he has to configure it to work, configure your firewall, and a few other things.

Will do. I was planning on doing a sort of side by side with a Treo 700, just for the sake of showing some actual comparisons. Give me a day or two.
Also, if you search around on the internet, there was a thing you could print and cut out that gave you exactly what I have, except you won't have the marketing info inside it.
Eyeballing, 1/2 inch wider than a Treo, but 1/2 inch thinner. And ...
VZW talking about the Q
Not like this is big news, but I was just at a morning seminar sponsored partially by VZW. They did a quick spiel on their WM5 phones and talked VERY VERY briefly about the Q and said it'd be out soon.
Of course, they wouldn't give a date.
BUT, I did get a cool little carboard cutout the exact size of the phone.
It's wider than a Treo 700 by a noticable margin, but much, much thinner.

So how do you get direct push to work? By that, I mean what do I have to do on the PHONE? I have the back end stuff set up (Exch2K3 SP2, turned Direct Push on), and I'm afraid the phone is the thing that's not set up.
I'm an Exchange Admin, so no need to walk me through anything on the back end. I'll troubleshoot that after I determine the phone is set up 100% correctly.

Actually, here are your options for the Q and hooking up to Exchange.
1. Use old fashioned ActiveSync. You need to have mobile access allowed and presented through some special Exchange servers called "front end" servers (in most cases). Not a necessity, but a best practice. Regardless, you need to configure the servers a specific way to allow mobile access.

Also, Cingular is a GSM carrier where the phone is for CMDA networks, i.e. Sprint and Verizon. As far as I've seen, there is no GSM version in the plans, but a UTMS version is (not sure what UTMS is).

It could mean nothing. Keep in mind Q1 is over, well, Friday. We know it won't be out then.

Sorry, a bit of a re-post, but this may deserve its own discussion. Just looking for any sorta feedback regarding the Q to the Treo's.
I want something I can type on and I don't think the keys on the Treo are big enough. If the Q is very similar, I may opt for a BB 8700 instead.
