Re: Blackberry Maps?

I think it blows and I've had mine for about 2 months. Slow and clunky. Google Maps for mobile works great. It's not crazy fast on Edge but I think it's outstanding.

Haven't seen this problem, but try this: Launch the browser, pull up the menu, go to Options, and click the top radio button to "Support JavaScript". If it's already cicked, I dunno what's wrong. Maybe try Opera or something.

One handed and two-handed are both about the same, which is pretty damn good. One handed is faster if you have smaller fingers. I didn't think I'd like the split QWERTY, but I love it, even though it takes some getting used to and it's occasionally frustrating. It's worth it for the form factor. It does feel a bit flimsy and plasticky after a while, which sorta sucks.

Hey, there's a better adapter out there -- actually two of them -- they're cheap and I know one works well from experience. They're here: http://www.bberry.com/content/access ories/73-75--1557.htm and http://www.bb erry.com/content/accessories/73-75--1556.htm The top one has a button and a mic that lets you answer calls with your regular headphones. It automatically pauses the media player. It works great. Sometimes the connector needs to be fiddled with a bit to get stereo sound, but very rarely. You just take it out and plug it in again. I dug around ...

Re: Has anyone tried this phone with T-mobile?

in the Nokia 6822 forum

I've been using it for about 6 months on T-Mobile in NYC. Works great. I haven't had them help me set up t-zones or anything though. I use Opera Mini for all web browsing. And I couldn't get Blackberry to work.

I bought mine from Amazon about a month ago and I love it. Simple, small, looks great, does a lot, great interface/menus, always works. I recommend downloading the Opera Mini web browser (free) once you've got your phone. It works great on mine. Good luck.

Assuming you've got a working version of XP, you have to install the ActiveSync software via the disk included with the MDA. Then you can connect via the USB cable, and ActiveSync will automatically launch on your PC. You'll get a window that should say "Connected" in the main area. Click the Explore button, then you get a File Explorer view of all the files on your machine. Then copy your music files from your PC and paste them ...

I also just found pocketgear.com. Tons of games, although it's hard to sort through them. But it's the biggest library I've found so far. They have Tiger Woods Golf and Madden 06.

And Handster.com. That's where you can get all the SPB programs (like Pocket Plus, which is a must-have, I think), and they have some decent games on there. That Anthelion 2 game is a pretty fun space flying game. Also Handmark.com -- their golf game, Microsoft Links, is f'ing amazing. There's only one course available right now, but the graphics are fantastic. http://handmark.com/products/de tail.php?id=159

Welcome to the fold. As for the data plan, you only have one choice as far as I know -- unlimited GPRS and EDGE, as well as unlimited access to T-Mobile Hotspots, for 30 bucks a month. Double check the pricing, but it's within 5 bucks of that. Sucks that there's no other options/price points, but that's the deal. Mine has been good and terrible. All-powerful but fussy. Prepare to love and hate it. Sounds like the Motorola Q will eventually come out ...

That's a good idea. Seems like an obvious way to do it, I'm sure it's a workaround. I'll report by when/if I confirm it. Thanks.

May 15, 2006, 10:35 AM

For some reason, I copied all my contacts from my SIM to my phone memory when I got this phone, then deleted everything on the SIM. Now, after having to hard reset a few times, I realize how stupid that was, and I can't figure out how to copy them back to the SIM. Anybody know how to do this? And yes, I know about SPB Backup, but that program has been causing havoc when I do a full restore. ...

I'm an MDA owner, and relatively gadget-savvy, but I keep seeing stuff about an AKU2 update on forums (as I try to fix all the buggy stuff that haunts me) and I don't know what it means. It's like Service Pack 2 for XP, right? Is it good? What does it fix? Where can I get it? Is it easy to install? Will it void my warranty? I'm so cold.

Hey, I appreciate the review, don't get me wrong. I'm just saying, I looked around on the display and saw the 1.0x thing pretty much right away. I'm awesome, though. So it might just be me. ZING! Your turn.

How do you "flash the Qtek rom"? I'm relatively savvy when it comes to gadget stuff, but I'm not a hacker -- is there any easy way to find/download/install this? And will it void my warranty? Please help, I'm lonely and scared.

Nope, it's on the MDA asswell. Suprised Phonescoop didn't see it. Good review nonetheless, though. I hate/love my MDA.

How did you map the Start menu to a button? I can find it as an option either via the standard Buttons setting or via Pocket Plus.

Pocket Plus is a must-have. It works great, it's real simple, pretty cheap, and saves a lot of time and processor speed. Once you get used to the basics of your Wizard, don't hesitate, just buy it. And I don't work for them.

I don't think the alarm will sound if you hit the power button to lock it. I just leave my MDA on (with the backlight set to go off after a minute or so), and it goes off in the morning. Then I wake up.

There's an online shop called ushopwireless.com that's been offering the MDA with a new contract for between 99 and 149, depending on the day. There's a notice on there that the offer expires at the end of the day, but that is a lie -- the expiration date just moves forward a day at the end of every day. http://www.ushopwireless.com/wireless /getyours/index.php?pc=SGC121&cp=MDA&campaign =tmobile_mda&gclid=CLrC86jk8IMCFSgPOAodLQOUTQ I can't vouch for the shop, and that expiration date lie isn't a good sign, but at that price, it's worth ...

This has probably already been mentioned in this forum, but I just wanted to make sure everybody knows about this HTC Wizard blog: http://htcwizard.westlands.org/ I t's edited by a Scandinavian guy, but he writes in English very well, and it's an extensive and growing resource. This sounds like marketing copy, but I just think it's a great site for dorks like us who are obsessing over this phone. I swear to everything good and holy that I am not associated with it. Enjoy.

I don't have one of these yet, but I have a Moto a630 with a similar keypad, and I don't find it to be a problem. With the Moto, you simply double tap the Alt key to lock it so that you can type a series of numbers. Great for passwords, phone numbers, etc. Same deal with shift - double type it to get all caps. I had the phone for 9 months before I figured that out. But now I ...

How and where did you get that price? Were you already a T-Mobile customer? I am, and I haven't hit my upgrade period yet, so the best deal I've been getting is list: 450. Which sucks. Especially cuz I messed around with a working model today at a T-Mo store and I want to have intercourse with it immediately. It's great.
