Agree here with everyone - public transportation (buses, trains) are all motor vehicles under the code. What if you're a passenger? Now you can't use the phone? Ridiculous approach here. Great point here about emergency calls too, both the 911 and calls to daycare. Distracted driving can occur from drinking the morning coffee, singing (or yelling) at the radio for songs playing or dropping something on the floor of the car. While yes it's sad ...

That's not true. Maybe for prepaid phones. I had bought my phone on an upgrade with a discount for being a good customer and had 90 days continuous service and was able to have my phone unlocked.

Believe it or not this happens often from cust serv. There have been times when I've gone over my minutes and called Cust serv and they say they'll give me courtesy minutes to cover it for 'being a dedicated customer' only to find that when it went to the next level of support to activate these free minutes they can't help me with my overage. I was all set to accept the overage just looking into options ...

I don't know what you ended up doing but mourer is right. Based on when the phone was made, they had soldering problems which the internal antenna ends up crapping out. It took me 2 weeks of insistent calls and finally getting to a tech who handled this. Mine crapped out in August. If it's that they WILL replace it at no charge to you less shipping and handling since you have a 1 year warranty on ...

Here's a novel concept - T-Mobile LICENSING Cingular to use there phone - in essence - selling them the phone. It will generate revenue for them albeit a small amount. Hmmmm.....

Regarding Question 2 - it has to be your PC. I've been able to toggle between file manager with no problem (Menu-9-USB Settings). Ensure you hook the cable to your phone before you hook it up to your PC. Other than that, it's your PC not being able to recognize the USB drive, Regarding changing slide and message tones, I've yet to see anyway you can change it. I'm not sure but I think the T629 ...

Glad I can help. I'm not a phone expert but it's something I stumbled on. Actually I had a motorolla. I found to change the profile that's what I needed to do or increase/decrease the volume of the ring tone. I tried with this one and voila, got the white screen with the time/date 8) I turn on the voice notes all the time.

Doubtful. The article stated it's a Europe Tri-Band (900/1800/1900) meaning it won't work for Cingular, which uses the 850 Band.

Actually I found with the predecessor, the T809, if you hold the up or down on the volume with the slide closed after ~2-4 seconds a white screen with the time and date will pop as well as the signal strength. I'm guessing the T629 will be able to do that as well. Also, uncerstand the issue with opening up the slider, I hit my thumb on the multi-function pad all the time.

I've received many international calls on my phone while stationed in the US. You pay for AIRTIME (you get charged minutes). As for payment of the call, I've received calls from Ireland on a regular basis. The caller pays for the call, you get charged airtime. If you call using a T-Mobile SIM card, you get charged airtime plus the cost of the call. If you roam, then you add in roaming charges whether ...

I periodically have this problem too. It's the track that the slider runs on. you have to ensure it's free of any dirt/dust. It' will stick if not used in a while but after that, no problem. This is my second one. I had the problem on both phones.

Given that buildings are created differently (frame work, support columns, concrete, rebar, foundations the list goes on) there is NO way any carrier can predict the service you will receive in a building. Also if you are in a multi floor building, where do they calculate the signal strength? It's extremely difficult to do this and then when their assessment is better than the reception you are receiving, what's the next question that will come up...that the ...

It's funny that one exclaims the T809 is similar to talking into a credit card yet the t509 was a recommendation. They are basically same size and shape. Given that I have a T809 and don't recommend it for bluetooth connection. If you are looking for a clamshell, I'd agree go with the Nokia 6103.

Let me understand this...you post on a T-Mobile forum looking for competitor feedback for your looking to leave T-Mobile. Did you consider posting on a competitor's forum? Do you really think you are going to receive honest information from people who are a) interested in T-Mobile or b) looking for answers about T-mobile issues. Sorry I'm not providing you feedback but I question if you have the correct forum page to correctly answer what you are looking for.

I believe they are on a CDMA network band similar to GSM in the region - 900MHz. And if I'm not mistaken, similar to GSM phones you need a world phone which has the capability between 850 MHz and 900 MHz. I believe this is why Sprint and Verizon force you to buy through them...you need to know how to program your phone to meet their requirements. I'm sure there are sites which you can find ...

SUNK

For the summer months and water enthusiasts, Motorolla comes out with SUNK. Completely waterproof, to be used only in the water. So for those who enjoy frollicing in the water, you can make calls 2 feet under water. Sure! just let the air out and talk. The phone is completely encased (similar to car batteries) so when the battery dies, so does the phone. A phone name which matches the price you pay for it - SUNK!

Re: Buying a Phone Overseas

From my recollection, Korea uses a CDMA network. I did do some ventures to Hong Kong and you can get GSM unlocked phones there that are as you correctly state, released earlier than here in the US, and find that when the product is first released here (if it does) it goes for the same price inially than what I paid overseas (given currency exchange). Thus, I would seriously consider buying a phone in those markets. ...
