Thanks for the info rtx. I cannot wait for the G1. I downloaded the Android 0.9 SDK, and as a WinMo user am really impressed by it. The only thing that will really hold me back are the conditions that T-Mobile will be putting together in terms if the pricing of the phone, their 3G data rates, and whether or not we'll have to sign 2 year contracts.

Touch Diamond

in the Article: Sprint Officially Announces HTC Touch Diamond and Touch Pro forum

Just to correct what phonescoop mentions in the press release for this phone. Unless it was recently changed, the Touch Diamond does NOT feature a MicroSD slot. Rather it has 4GB of on board storage, only the Touch Pro features a memory slot.

It's quite possible that HTC's first UMA phone will be for their Android powered G1 for T-Mobile that is supposedly coming out sometime in October.

Re: New Tilt
Aug 28, 2008, 2:22 AM
in the HTC forum

ACTUALLY, it is not a proper successor to the 8925 a.k.a Tilt. It is just another line in HTC's continuing dream to create the perfect pocket pc. If anything, the Touch Pro is the successor to the 8525, which does not have a tilting screen just like the Touch Pro. This isn't to say that it won't come down the line, but I'd be willing to bet that a LOT of people who have purchased this phone would be ...

That's funny because there is not yet a version of this phone that has a tilting screen. The main function if the tilting screen on the 8925 was that you could set the phone on its back and view the screen without having to hold it, but If anyone has seen any of the videos of the Touch Pro, when the phone is placed on its back with the keyboard exposed, the phone tends to wobble due to the ...

Also, the new Firmware on T-Mobile's site fixes the phantom alarm problem, I had the problem as well before the update, now, I never have any issues with the alarm. Just make sure that you back up all of the files on your phone, the update will erase your phone.

Re: Ringtone capable?
Feb 23, 2008, 9:39 PM

You have to put any and all files that you want as MP3s into your My Documents folder, preferably on the Storage Card. From there, you go into the Settings folder, then Sounds, and the songs shall be selectable for ringtones! Hope it helps.

Re: how do i watch youtube on my shadow??
Feb 23, 2008, 9:34 PM

It isn't possible through the default Internet Explorer, fortunately though, there is a wonderful little program called vTap that I have been using on my Shadow(and will work on all WM phones) that'll allow you to view the youtube videos either on EDGE, or WiFi. Just google the app and blam! Awesome program, hope it helps!

True, but at least you get a 2.6 inch screen, sure type keyboard, and from what i have heard, a newer user friendly interface. I actually am anticipating the Shadow since I cant get the Wing. Oh, and also, you have to look at it from a pricing stand point. I hear that it will be fairly reasonable at 149.00 on a two year after rebate. That makes it the cheapest WM smartphone on any carrier. Cant Wait!! :D

I agree about the representatives just wanting to pad their pockets with that data plan. But instead she got a Nokia 6126 which is actually a pretty cool phone. However, I dont agree about not being able to use the phone to it's full use W/O the data. Like I mentioned, I have the SDA, and dont use a data plan, and the sheer amount of features on my phone, and the apps that I can install on my ...

Question About T-Mobile and Dash
Aug 5, 2007, 5:47 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

I went to a T-Mobile today to help my girlfriend get a new phone, and when I was there, she really wanted to get the Dash. Right when we were about to purchase the phone, the lady is like, "Oh, and it's required to buy the data plan when you buy the phone because we notice that the return rate is much lower when the customer has it!" So we say f*ck it, I know we dont need to ...

Well that's good to hear, if they are indeed T-Mobiles Towers that are being constructed specifically for 3G purposes. To the one who replyed that Japan is the only country who relies soley on 3G, you guys out there are so lucky that NTT DoCoMo understands why cellular technology is so wonderful and the features that they as a company provide only prove that point even more. I bet that we will see an awful lot of Samsung support, as ...

Thanks for replying, all you guys. Like the first person who responded said, skipping to 4G might be the only thing they can do to remain relativley competitve. I hate the fact that their smartphones have the tendency to be so expensive, and I believe that they need to have more smartphones that are less expensive than say, AT&T. And does anyone know why they don't have any Treo's? A 750p would have been nice if they made one ...

I know that a lot of you here on the forums have the same question, and although I know that many people have asked this question before in previous threads, I just want to know, what's with the hold up. Didn't T-Mobile win all that specturm from the FCC bidding? I'm just frustrated because have been using my SDA since the first day it came out, and have seriously been tempted to either upgrade to the Dash or the ...

Although I am not familiar with how to install tom tom software or where to get it, I can tell you that no, this phone does not have A2DP, so no, you cannot listen to audio streamed via bluetooth. But the good thing is, A2DP can be downloaded, I just don't know how!

I'm sure it is. If this phone is like all WM5 divices then when you go into the Comm Manager, you have the option of turning off incoming and outgoing calls without turning off the phone! Get it?

Well, then I will take your's! Personally I'd love to own this phone, and I actually plan on getting one. As for the 8525, I understand your sentiments, but I cannot yet justify the rumored $475 with a two year contract, just for an overclocked MDA with a better key board layout. Guess We'll have to just wait to see!

The Video capture on this phone actually is pretty good. The resolution is better than decent, and yes, it is only limited by how much space you have avilable on your phone. And to answer your other question, yes, you can assign mp3's to an individual contact. It's a great phone afterall.

I did, when i dropped mine. But i was still within my 30 days purchase of a new phone so i took it back and got a new one free. I think you should at least try to take it back seeing that the joystick is key to operating the phone. What have you got to lose?

That's a good question. But before you do, you have to consider the following: price, durability, overall quality, personal needs, and the shelf life of the phone. I have the SDA, and personally, i believe that it is a wonderful phone. I researched it for about 2 months before making the jump, and i wont look back. I purchased it the first day it was released, so I got my money's worth. I have dropped it twice, once on the ...

This might not work, but maybe you should try downloading skype to your PC, then use Activesync to transfer it to your phone. But aside from that, i thought Skype only worked for text messages and does not support voice on the SDA yet? If that works, share the secret :D

Re: adjusting volume
Jul 10, 2006, 12:27 PM
in the HTC SDA (USA) / SP5m (Tornado) forum

First off, you need to either change it from NORMAL to OUTSIDE, the latter of the two being louder, if not, here's what you gotta do. Where it says PROFILE in on the homescreen of the phone, click the profile, and hit the right softkey. that brings up MENU, where you then select EDIT. That gives you a wide selection of things to do, and changing ringtone volume is an option. I hope that helps.

Re: mp3 RINGTONE?

Sure can. When you copy music to your phone through ActiveSync, open the "EXPLORE" go to your memory stick, if you have one, and put the music into the MY DOCUMENTS folder, and when you select a contact it(the song) will show up as a ringtone. As to custom wallpapers, just use pictures from your PICTURES AND VIDEOS and you can use pictures as a homescreen.

It depends. If you think that somewhere down the road that you will want to get the latest and greatest in technology, then by all means save them to the SIM card, because then you will have to do it all over again, which isn't fun if you dont use outlook express. Yes, this phones does support downloads. if you have a profile over a tmobile.com it should give you the option to download new things to your phone. And ...

Update: I figured it out. I read some forums and basically all you need to do is drag and drop, or in this case copy and paste the song into the 'My Documents" folder, and BAM. Also, if you have a SD card, go to the SD card by using File Manager, select the Music from the SD card, and if you do not already have one, create a My Documents folder in the SD card, copy it from the ...
