Things I hate...Part 2
May 1, 2007, 7:38 PM
in the Shop Talk forum

I hate it when people mumble. Example: ME - May I have your mobile number area code first? CUST - 951-??2-??blue9. ME - I'm sorry. May I have that again? CUST - I said ???-65r-9??9 ME - Excuse me? CUST - I SAID 951-555-5555! Are you deaf? Speak clearly. I am not deaf, but if you do not enunciate, I will keep asking until I can get the right info. Unless you want me to put your prepaid PIN on the wrong account you better speak up. I ...

Cingular Pulls the iPhone!!!!
May 1, 2007, 7:14 PM
in the AT&T forum

Just kidding. What I meant was they have pulled info about the iPhone. A few days ago, Engadget Mobile posted an article which included the internal CSP entry about the iPhone. http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2007 /04/25/iphone-qanda-for-atandt-employees/ Since this happened, Cingular has removed ALL info about the iPhone, especially the actual Talking Points, from CSP. It now says that it is unavailable. Sounds like Cingular was PO'd about the leaked info. HA!

I agree that veterans do deserve respect and standard military benefits, but being a veteran has NOTHING to do with cell phones or cell phone service. Just because you are a veteran does not mean that I can magically guess your phone number or make your phone able to pull the number up while you are on it if the manufacturer did not make it to do that. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Cell Phones: My Career?

I work for Cingular Wireless, now the new AT&T prepaid customer support. I have been doing this for about 15 months. I love this industry. I am seriously thinking about making it my career. I realized how much I love my job recently when I was contemplating getting a second job. Not just any job, but a job at a Cingular Wireless, now the new AT&T corporate owned store. I would work full time doing customer service and part ...

I agree that some policies make no sense, but COME ON! How the heck do you not know your AREA CODE?!? We can't use the caller ID because the customer actually has to give us the mobile number and if they are calling from a landline, that number would be the one showing uo, but if the customer was calling from a landline, then this whole post would not be here. God, I love my job.

SORRY! I'm just telling you how it was listed as the CU400. You'd figure that since the upgrade to the CU500 is the CU500v (v standing for video share), then the upgrade to the CU400 would be the CU400m (m standing for music player). Although, I never understood phone names. For instance, the Motorola V series. They release them in weird order. For instance, the V365 came out after the V551 and V557.

Things I Hate...Part 1

I hate it when customers do not listen. Example: ME - May I have your cell number area code first? CUST - 90210 -OR- Yeah, I'm trying to add money to my account -OR- My phone isn't working. PROBLEMS: First of all, I asked for your cell phone number AREA CODE first, not your zip code. Second, even if you "hear" zip code, your answer should've been 90210 555-1234. Yep, for half a day, but it was just called the CU400. The only difference in the original and this one was the new AT&T branding and that it had the music icon listed on the website meaning it has music player capabilities. It was $9.99 after rebates, whereas the original CU400 is FREE.

Not with prepaid. Prepaid accounts do not require a SS# and usually the name is defaulted to Prepaid Customer. And how would I pull it up by the zip code? The only way to pull up a prepaid account is with the accurate mobile number OR the SIM card number. But if you are on the phone and don't have the SIM card number or mobile number, there is NOTHING I can do.

No, they DID say out of stock, but now they are completely off the website all together. I love Cingular, now the new AT&T, but WTF?!? Webmaster needs to be fired. Also, they posted a new AT&T branded music version of the LG CU400 yesterday and it is gone too.

What is up with Cingular.com and New Phones?
Apr 27, 2007, 5:50 PM

Today, the LG CU500v and Nokia N75 were posted on Cingular.com. The CU500v is simply the CU500 with video sharing software, but the Nokia N75 is one of the best reviewed and highly anticipated phones in a while. It is a 3G Symbian smartphone with music capabilities. They were posted this morning, along with an AT&T branded LG CU400, but the Nokia was removed after a few hours and the CU500v shortly after. WTF? Do we have them ...

The official Cingular/AT&T answer to this question is NO! Why would Cingular/AT&T allow you to buy a heavily discounted prepaid phone when they can charge you much more for an early upgrade or no commitment price? Plus, rumor was that there is going to be some sort of a system block that is either in effect now or will be soon. The non-Cingular/AT&T approved answer is HELL YEAH! I bought a Motorola C139 for a backup phone in case anything ...

Re: Another Take on Dropped Calls
Mar 7, 2007, 11:29 PM
in the AT&T forum

The problem with the Cingular/AT&T claim of fewest dropped calls is the CUSTOMERS!!!! First of all, it is true. Based on independent research among all the NATIONAL carriers, Cingular/AT&T does have the fewest dropped calls. That is FEWEST dropped calls, not NO DROPPED CALLS. Also, just because your call dropped, does not mean that it was Cingular/AT&T's fault. It takes two people to make a call. The other party may have had a dropped call.

I agree with RUFF1415. I have both the LG CU500 and the MOTORAZR V3xx. Both are superb phones. I preper the RAZR mainly because of the design and overall feel. The CU400 is basically a cheaper version of the CU500. Still a great phone though. Icyhot is also correct. Looking at non-3G phones, the SE w810i is the best out there.

Yes, sometimes they stop working or have issues, but just because your first phone stops working, does not mean that that all of those models will. TDMA to GSM Prepaid Upgrades (LONG)
Jan 23, 2007, 9:45 AM
in the AT&T forum

I work in an exclusively prepaid center. One of the biggest headaches that I have to deal with (which will end sometime in April, HOPEFULLY) is TDMA to GSM upgrades and especially former AT&T Wireless migrations. Cingular to Cingular migrations are sort of simple except balance transfers take up to 5-7 business days. Former AT&T to Cingular migrations are a bit more of a headache. In most cases, the balance actually transfers automatically the same day. The major issue ...

DON'T FREAKIN' CALL IN AND TRY TO SCARE ME BY SAYING YOU ARE GOING TO ANOTHER COMPANY! OH, AND YOU ARE NOT GOING TO PAY ETFs? FINE, IT'S YOUR CREDIT SCORE, NOT MINE. Re: Unlimited TXT'S

I don't see how unlimited SMS would help too much especially when it is a per line feature. The only thing I could think is replace the 3000 pak with unlimited for $19.99 on a single line, but a FT pak would have to be at least $29.99 and that is pretty hefty for SMS, although I have seen some pretty hefty overage charges even on a 3000 msg pak.

It is a Siemens SF65. Found it on Engadget Mobile's website. BTW, who else HATES the site? It is slow and half the links do not work. True, most new site launches have these problems, but I think that it just looks like T-Mobile's website now.

Prepaid, even Go Phone, will not support data devices. Yes, you can use a data device, but you cannot get anything other than pay-per-use. Pick Your Plan does allow certain data packages, but they are ONLY for regular phones. Plus, prepaid would cost WAY TOO MUCH. I've said it before: in most instances, it is cheaper to pay a $500 deposit and possible $175 ETF and get postpaid service than to get prepaid service. Pay $80-100 a month on ...

What makes a phone uninsurable?
Oct 5, 2006, 11:07 PM
in the AT&T forum

I have had many customers ask me this very question and have also read it in numerous posts on this website. Here is a few things that help decide it. 1) The price of the phone. If the phone is a $400+ retail price, it probably will not be insurable. 2) The availability and popularity of the phone. Phones like the SLVR and LG CU500 are not as common as a V557 or and LG C2000. I don't know how true ...

This is a warning to ALL customers, new or existing, no matter your carrier.
