Why can basic ideas be locked down with patents?
Mar 28, 2012, 10:03 AM
in the Article: T-Mobile Hit With NFC-Related Patent Lawsuit forum

It seems so wrong that simple ideas that do not require innovation or any real thought are able to be protected. It is very sad. If the air compressor where invented today by apple no gas station could afford one. I understand if they used their soft wear or their technology but some things are to basic and first to use an everyday idea should not make money off anyone else that also comes up with a service based ...

"If we look at at&t (Cingular) history, one of the best things about their takeovers is that everyone (except most senior level positions) kept their jobs. It's funny that no one ever points that out." What? AtTheMet What? Everyone except... So the store closures resulted in? Merger of call centers and outsourcing overseas caused... Not one layoff?

Some jobs lost to outsourcing but many more kept due to NOT closing stores or shutting down authorized resellers due to the merger. Many more jobs would have been lost if the merger went through due to closing stores where there was both AT&T and T-Mobile in the same mall or area. We kept many more jobs including many higher paying store management jobs and independent resellers are still around because T-Mobile is still around.

"You obviously have very little knowledge or are confused. Your voice and data services are contractual but there are zero penalties for canceling them." No that is so wrong. You must have a data plan to have a smart phone with AT&T. To cancel the data plan you have to get a basic phone or cancel your service. If you have the iPhone you must have a data plan. If you have the so-called unlimited plan you are limited and throttled where ...

Re: how about increase the capacity of their network?

Limit talk and surf at the same time and make the network one so spectrum is not used for data and some for date because they did not upgrade sooner and things would look diffrent.

I am a Verizon Wireless customer for a couple of reasons. NOT because I hate AT&T or love Verizon. Verizon invests more in it's network and AT&T has to play catchup. AT&T spends more on it's investors. The things AT&T claims to be the greatest are things they fell behind on. Talk and web at the same time? Because they did not upgrade their networks and had to add a separate data network to avoid replacing older voice ...

Wow this comment is so flawed. The contract related to the phone? It requires a data plan. Nothing to do with? Call AT&T and try to start or have service with an iPhone and not have a contract that includes data. dlmjr said: Your contract for services does not guarantee speed on the network. If you are an unlimited customer, you have had that for probably over 2 years. If you are talking about the contract related to the phone, that is a different ...

"And there is no 'unlimited' speed which people are ticked over." AT&T sells it's services as the fastest. No guarantee of unlimited or the fastest service is true. BUT when service is limited to slow speeds data usage is limited thus unlimited is limited to a fixed max amount by AT&T and not just not as fast as the network offers can achieve. It is not about speed it is about making the service to slow to be useful to ...

No it is not. You are using a service that is not a physical commodity. Whether or not you use it it will not be there at the end of the day. I am not saying that it is right to congest the network but it is not right to limit usage just because it is there. If the network can handle the traffic it should not slow you down because you can not charge you more for more usage. ...

The fairest and smartest thing AT&T can do is throtle only when it needs to and throttle as little as possiable. So if the network can handle it let it, otherwise reduce speed only if it is needed. Simple.

Fredd you are off on this one. If you offer unlimited and restrict the amount you can use it is not unlimited. If you reduce the speed of the user the user is limited in how much date they can use. Thus limited. Does AT&T throttle users of the limited plans or just charge more? It would be like 24 hour fitness changing to a pay by the hour price plan and limiting usage of the members that pay monthly ...

Feb 29, 2012, 10:58 AM
in the Article: AT&T Customers Campaign Against Data Policies forum

Is not unlimited mean all you can use? If you limit how fast you can use data you are limiting the amount of data a customer can use? I understand speeds are not gaurenteed but the plan is unlimited so by slowing speeds down you are placing a limit on the data you can use. So unlimited is limited. At the very least the speeds should only be limited by what in necessary to relieve congestion and this should ...

Usualy; if the phone is in the military spouces name it gets the discount even if the other spouce is on the agreement as a authorised user as long as the enlisted is the primary account holder. That is the way it works with Verizon.
