Re: Kevalr is NOT a gimmick
Kevlar not only adds stiffness, but lateral strength to very thin items. I think it was a good choice as opposed to carbon fiber or metal.
Plus, if I am spared because a stray bullet hits my phone in my shirt pocket...and added plus!
Re: Radio Improvements?
I bought the Razr Maxx and returned it. I found the same problems as with the Bionic- unable to switch effectively between 4G and 3G and maintain a data signal.
The sales rep at the store said, "Just keep it on 3G." If I wanted a 3G only phone I would stick with my iPhone 4S, which is a good phone, but I am running our of memory.
Re: Whats the difference?
It also has an external slot for an SD card and Simm
Re: Quality of Movie (MP4) or Netflix Playback???
Buy it. It is a great phone with great screen. If you don't like it- take it back.
Re: what is wrong with YOU?
I for one do not understand the infatuation customers have with "4G". It does not guarantee better connectivity (from a location standpoint). It does handle data faster, but that really only benefits the carrier, by allowing more customers to simultaneously access the data network. I really don't care if I am downloading data at 5mBs vs. 18Mbs. I can't count that fast anyway.
Granted, as the smartphone airways become more crowded with 4G customers it will ...
Re: Android email client
Take a look at Touchdown Exchange- it does folders.
Re: Battery Life
The phone is rated for 7 hours of talk time. You talk for almost 5 hours and are concerned the battery is down to 70%? I'd say your phone is working way above the specs.
Could be worse- I had an Incredible, and got about 3 hours of use before recharge. Changed to the iPhone and it's like the heavens opened and the sun started shining again.
Re: Battery Life
I hate to be disagreeable, but that is not true. Modern day lithium ion batteries don't need to be "calibrated", "exercised", or "run in". The are controlled within the phone by a battery management circuit that keeps track of the status and health of the battery.
I have been making cellular phone batteries for over twenty years, and the batteries of today are really simple to take care of-just use them until they wear out!
If you are experiencing abnormal ...
Re: Im So Tired Of Waiting For The Thunderbolt
Mine does too! And it self recharges with nano technology!
Re: So entertained by the IPhone frenzies today
It's the best. It has apps. And the WiFi.
Re: SIGNAL QUESTION???
There are to many variables between CDMA and GSM to say one will handle signal strength "better". Figure at one bar your signal is lousy no matter what. Get a VZW network extender for your home- I did and it works great.
Re: Droid 2 update???
I think I found the prob. In the wifi settings, I had "connect to social networks only with wifi" checked. I couldn't subscribe to news feeds either. I unchecked it, and viola! the update popped up, and I now get news too!
Re: Droid 2 update???
Well, so much for "instant gratification!" (I want it right now :x ) Thanks for the info. I was using a BB before- so the root of my concern.
Re: Droid 2 update???
True, but my understanding was that this update was available for self download a couple of weeks ago. Just trying to figure out if my I.T. guy is being an anal retentive security gnome. :paranoid:
Droid 2 update???
I read that VZW is pushing an OTA software update for the Droid2. Every time I go to the update section of settings it says, "Update not available at this time, try again later." Is it my phone/corp IT blocking this, or is it taking a long time to push this out?
Thx.

Re: You will be going back to Verizon Guarantee Give it a month
If you are all over Canada & Alaska- why don't you look into Rogers, or one of the Canadian providers?
Re: Any Blackberry to Android converts out there?
It depends on what you need. I use my phone for business & fun. I went from a BB curve to the Droid2. The Android platform isn't as business friendly as BB, but it's a lot more versatile for overall fun.
That said, Android is constantly upgrading it's apps, and my complaint one week is usually resolved the next.
Re: What is the best way to sync outlook calandar with droid?
I've used the Android stock MS Exchange, and Touchdown. Both work fine for Outlook calendar syncing. Both have user preference issues for mail delivery. Touchdown Contacts doesn't want to sync with my phone contacts, which screws up voice search. The list goes on....
Re: Question about apps
App2SD moves programs to the SD card
Re: Droid 2 work with droid accessories?
The Droid2 car dock comes with an insert for the Droid1-so your old one prolly won't fit the new one.
Re: Verizon as a whole
I have been a VZW customer (counting all the mergers/acquisitions/etc) since 1985. I have always experienced courteous, professional response to my inquiries. The CSR's have always tried their best to help. Sometimes I would get the CSR that was really in over their head technically, but that's life- and as long as you recognize that fact you can always call back for a better resolution without it becoming a life defining issue. I have tried other carriers-Sprint CS ...
Re: I JUST GOT THE MOTOROLA DROID X BUT...
I have both- got the Incredible when it came out, and am on the third one due to bugs. The X is a really great phone, but big.
The difference I've found is the Inc battery drain is awful- just sitting on the desk and no calls, nothing, it drains the battery 25% in four hours. That's the 1750mAh battery, by the way. The X has the same apps on it and lasts all day with calls, ...
Re: Battery life on the D2 looks incredible
The battery on this is fantastic! I have an Incredible- and would turn it on at 0630, and by 7:00 at night it was dead. I would turn it on and not use it and in two hours the battery was down to 85%. I have the same programs on the D2, plus use live wallpaper & leave the gps on, and after 61/2 hours it is still at 90%
Re: GO WITH THE EVO
It's the best...it has apps.
Re: Droid X Inventory Issues
The local Corp. store has been out since launch day, and they aren't due to get any until 8/11!

Re: fade in and out during call
I had the same prob- plus signal fade as well. I upgraded the 1.xx baseband (menu>settings>about>software information)version of the radio to 2.05 (Upcoming OTA) and it solved the problems immediately. I didn't upgrade to Android 2.2 because my 2.1 works great now, and I don't have all day to reload my apps, etc.
It was easy - go here:

Re: 2150 battery
Yes. It works fine.
Re: Mark All as Read*!*!*!*!*! PLEASE!
Why don't you just read them. If you see they are spam delete them? 74 unread emails is a lot. What if one of them was telling you you won a lottery, and had only one day to respond?
Re: 1750 mAh Slim Extended Battery
I've had mine for about two weeks. I do see an improvement- particularly late in the evening. It seems to give me about 15-20% more run time. I have GPS and exchange synch running all the time, and at the end of a 15 hour day it still has about 25% battery left. The old one was down to 10%, and then would die.
Re: Slim extended battery
Not worth the effort-cheap Chinese cr*p. It may or may not be 1500mAh. There are a lot of Chinese "battery factories" that also make Hello Kitty stickers, shoes, kitchen utensils, and oh yeah, high tech batteries all in the same garage.
Re: Slim extended battery
It depends on the technology of the battery-if it is the same as the OEM battery, you can't stuff 5.2 watts in a 4.8 watt box with the same weight - but using a higher energy density battery would do the trick. I wish they would hurry up and get it on the maket- my battery life sucks begonias.
Re: Slim extended battery
The OEM battery weighs in at 30gms (1.1 oz) The 1750mAh battery should prolly be at about 1.4 oz (40gms), unless they are using the new lithium polymer stuff- but seeing as how this is a consumer product, I doubt it.
Re: Slim extended battery
'Bout 15% more for both. An aftermarket 1750mAh battery will be available in about a month. Fits in the same space as the original.
Re: Any way to disable the auto-locking feature??
The App Store has an app called "Unlock" that disables the auto lock function on the phone- still times out to "sleep" mode, but you don't have to unlock it each time. Prob is that the volume keys on the side will also wake up the phone then- easy to press in a holster or case.
Re: Touch screen vs. BB keypad
Good question. I went from a Storm 1&2 to a Tour, now the Incredible Droid. This keyboard is VERY easy to use. I like it.
Re: HOW TO ENTER A "PAUSE"?
I assume you are speed dialing your voicemail- a pause is usally entered by using a "comma". If you need a longer pause, enter more commas.
Re: wifi reception vs normal reception
I had the same problem- for about $200 one time purchase fee I got a VZW network extender-gives me 5 bars within 1500 ft of my office & uses the internet like VOIP. Works really good.
Re: vzw and att in cahoots?
Both are controlled by the Public Utilities Commission-as far as pricing is concerned. No big mystery.
