Re: KRZR K1M Verizon can't set ringtones for different people?

I've had this phone for about a month now, and I like it a lot. Very good volumn and very good Bluetooth operation, plus it was pretty easy to hack around it so that I can tether to my laptop for an Internet connection. The only minor problems I find with it are: 1) The type font is a bit too small and hard to read in weak light. I can't find a way to change the font, and ...

Lithium batteries do not suffer from the "memory" problem that Nicads and Metal Hydryd batteries do. However they definately have a cycle life based on a number of recharges. After a certain number of recharges, that varies with the battery type, they do not fully recharge and they get worse every charge. It doesn't matter if it is 90% or 10% discharged when you recharge it. It is still one cycle life to the battery.

I finally broke down and bought a new KRAZR K1M. It seems like a pretty good phone so far, but those red bars really are terrible looking and down right stupid. If Verizon wants to use a standardized User Interface to make their own tech support easier, that makes sense. Having those bars stand out in bright red is just plain designer stupid. There would be no difference at all in their support costs if the bars could be ...

I agree with you 100%. There's no problem with a rep not knowing a lot of technical details. There is a BIG problem with him flat out lying, claiming he does, and then you finding out after the purcahse, that what said works, doesn't. I'm wondering if there is any advantage at all to purchasing our phones and renewing our contracts at a store instead of on-line today? So far I've been going to the local store, but its getting ...

They also formally announced to the press that they were changing their contract terms to start pro-rating their ETF on all new contracts. This was supposed to be implimented in the 3rd Quarter of this year and was reported in most major newspapers. So far, its not available that way, and this is the 4th quarter. Sounds like it was just a publicity stunt, or bait and switch, to me.

By now, you probably have tried both the LG8600 and the Moto KRZR on Verizon. Which do you like better? You usually have better honest info then all the pitchmen here. Thanks.

Well put! Simple as that. Verizon has the best coverage at the moment, and they are leveraging that to make every sheckal they can. In the long run, it will come back to haunt them as the other carriers improve their coverage and people remember being screwed in the past. Mamagement doesn't care because their bonus' are based on this quarter's profits, not what happens 2 or 3 years in the future. Its bad business, but it's lining their ...

That's interesting because Mossberg did a tech article on the Chocolate in the Wall Street Journal a few days ago. One of his main negative comments was that VZ had it set up in such a way, that it gave him trouble playing MP3's that he put on the card also, but Music Downloaded from the VZ site worked perfectly. He could still play the others, but it took some klugy work arounds instead of just playing them as ...

Doesn't anyone else find it strange that actual details of the specifications for this phone aren't widely published already, and yet it is supposed to be released in a week or so? Usually phone sccop and others have all the details for comparisons with other phones available, for a month or more before they are released for sale. Wonder what the big secret is with this one? Maybe there's more hype then actual phone there. We'll see.

Remember that it is Verizon Corporate that sets those policys that allow Walmart to do business the way they do, and then demands that others who are smaller, do business the way they say. Don't blame Walmart or the customers. Blame the people that set the rules that permit this. It would be very easy for Verizon to set the same standards for anyone.

From reading previous threads, it is obvious that you can't read text messages on the outside display. I don't care much about that. But what about seeing called ID information on the outside display without opening the phone to answer it? That is important to me.

Isn't it incredable how rabid some of these commissioned salespeople get when you ask an honest question about making a purchase that might not allow them to maximize their commissions? Since I don't know even a single person I call regularly that is also on Cingular, the promo minutes have no value at all. On the other hand, being able to change carriers at will if not satisfied with the service, has great value.

Where did you get that idea? The V3i is a full quad band GSM phone, NOT a CDMA phone. I am currently using it on Cingular with a pre-paid account for testing. I also use it in Europe on a Vodaphone SIM where it works perfectly, which is why I am even testing it on Cingular here in the States. It is the RAZR V3C that is the CDMA phone and is so restricted that I am trying to avoid ...

In the LA area, I get a lot of "the wireless subscriber you are trying to reach is not available. Please try again later" messages. This is even when calling my own office landline which has my secretary sitting by the phone. I sometimes try the number 2 or 3 times before giving up on my Cingular RAZR phone. Then I'll call on my Verizon LG phone and the call goes right through. Same thing happens when calling other ...

Thanks a lot to all of you. That will solve my problem and let me get a Bluetooth phone for use when not traveling, while still not having to violate VZ's policy's. I really hate their new policy of not even allowing us to use simple, slow dial up modem connections on their new phones, without buying their $60 per month broadband service, when I only need the connection a few times a year. I just had a thought. How difficult is it, and is there a chargem to change back and forth from 1 phonr to another keeping the same number of course? The only reason I don't upgrade (and I am off contract) is because I need my LG 6000 as my only Internet connection for my laptop 4 to 6 times a year when traveling. I can't do that with the RAZR or LG 8100 withought doing some hacking, which ...

Well, considering how Verizon screws the customers, why does it surprise anyone that they will also screw their own commissioned sales people and other retailers? Also, I just saw the RAZR pink at $139 today and the regular RAZR at $99 today, at Best Buy. If you are living off commissions working for Verizon, instead of salary or hourly wages, you better start looking for another job.

This is a prik service offered by fraudulent priks. Its been used to defraud on wired and now on wireless phones. Some ahole starts billing your phone number, when you don't have a clue whee they came from (no kids, etc on your account)and the phone company says it isn't their problem, they just bill you for this third party. Of course they also make a profit charging the third party for every dollar. Its bullshit and it's fraud ...

Jan 28, 2006, 1:34 PM

Thanks for the info folks. I don't care at all about Music or VCast on my phone. Bluetooth and good signal are my primary concerns. Does anyone know if there are also similiar hacks available to get DUN to work on the RAZR as there are on the 8100? That is my last concern about the two phones. Aside from Bluetooth, I'd probably just stick with my old 6000 that does everything else I care about excelently.

Since they are charging so much for it, they are helping create a market for those new $200 EVDO routers. If I wanted to run my entire office internet connection off of their EVDO service, then it would be worth the $60 per month plus buying a router. Bet the spammers will find it a bargain at that price.

While I agree with you on the free speach issue (1st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution) most States in the U.S. are also "Employment at Will" States. What that means is that we as employers have the right to terminate an employee for any reason that does violate the 'protected' groups enumerated in the various other constitutional amendments, such as Race, Religion, Sex, etc. As an employer who has had up to 500 employees at a time, I can ...

I agree 100% and after reading numerous posts on these forums, it seems to follow here too. It seems that a lot of Verizon customers on these forums are trying to help each other with problems, while a lot of Verizon employees spend the majority of their time here, either confusing or insulting the customers. What the Hell could have gone wrong in the company that used to be really great with their customer service? I run a fairly ...
