LoL, I don't know, if Wimax is the way they describe it, I don't know if we'll need anything faster.
Re: This plus the samsung tocco is awesome.
Here's a non-broken link.

But as Roadkill pointed out, the article is two years old but it does ring true. He's also correct about "The Deathstar" having those speeds already in many markets but it's usually up to those speeds as there are so many AT&T users with 3G handsets gobbling up the bandwidth, I've never seen anyone here in the North West get faster than 1.5 Mbps and even those speeds are a rare occasion and I realize ...
This is news? Well.... I guess
BoyGenius Reports and other sites have been reporting on this model since April. I suppose it's news now that it's "official" and it looks like a cool little "entry smart phone" if I ever saw one. I think I'll get one for my mom and hold out for the G1. (or the HTC Dream or the GPhone or the "first android device" or whatever you'd like to call it.) At least it and the X1 are confirmed to have ...
Word on the street...
Word on the street is that T-Mobile USA is releasing an AWS version of the Diamond in July. We'll see. 8)
Re: Open network???? Please.
Does "Open Network" also include them spying on their customers for the NSA?
Re: ??????
In a way. They're auto-blocked on T-Mobile's Flex-Pay (even free one's) and if you call and ask, they will block all of them for free. I'm not sure about other providers.
Re: NOT ALL THAT IT SEEMS
Totally, this model has a regular phone jack so once you're home, you can use your regular cordless. Pretty convenient. 8)
I heard that OnStar and ADT would be affected...
I heard that OnStar and ADT alarm systems would be affected by this as some of their services still used the AMPS technology but I'm sure they've taken measures to avoid issues. They have enough time after all.
Re: why?
I've looked everywhere and I can't find "Safari Mini" let alone one that would work with Win Mobile. :(
Re: I love People who whine
I used to work for T-Mobile and I set up spam filters for many customers, I wonder why this didn't happen to these people?
Re: Verizon block huh?
Could be but it depends. What carrier are you with?
Re: If tmob adds 3G will that increase the coverage for tmobile?
In some areas, yes. T-Mobile purchased new spectrum in areas they don't currently have but one will need a 3G device to take advantage of those areas. Plus, their merger with Suncom should be complete by the end of Q1 so that will be added coverage as well. They have a lot of catching up to do in that area but I think it will please all of their customers once fully deployed. I'm just hoping the delay means ...
AT&T Wireless had something like this a few years ago..
AT&T Wireless, not "The New AT&T," had a similar app in 2003 on my Nokia 3200. It was okay and worked with MapQuest from the "M-Life" menu. It cost $6.00/month so this is a better price. It did save me once when I was lost in Nashville, TN. Once Cingular came about, it vanished. This is running great on my BlackBerry Curve from T-Mobile but if my Bluetooth is on, it tries to pair with a GPS device and ...
If it only had a touch screen, UMA, etc....
A faster processor would be nice too. It's a "Windows Mobile Samsung Blast" with a nicer camera and a prettier finish. Some may like it, but I'll stick with my Curve. 8)
Re: hurry
I see what you mean as all the other carriers are doing great with their UMA service and it is true that T-Mobile is behind on sharing their customer's CPNI with 3rd party ad agencies. :o
Re: T-Mobile should go for LTE along with UMTS
Long Term Evolution, it's the fourth generation of GSM technologies. Wikipedia and HowStuffWorks have great articles on it. Very cool especially now that VZW is choosing it. This means that in the U.S.A, Verizon could very well be a roaming partner of T-Mobile and AT&T in the future rather than Sprint. This would be a great thing for us consumers in theory. They could charge an arma nd a leg for it though. 8)
Re: RIP CDMA
They didn't "choose" it yet but they are looking into it. There was an article here: https://www.phonescoop.com/news/item.php?n=22 44
Re: t-helio???
Pretty cool, but alas, Helio is EV-DO/CDMA and T-Mobile is EDGE/GSM so it would cost too much to convert.
No UMA?
Any word on whether they will be offering unlimited calling like T-Mobile with their Wi-Fi BlackBerry that's being released soon?
Re: Took Longer then I thought
Me too! :D They own some spectrum in the Virgin Islands too!
Re: Coverage Area?
T-Mobile's would work in Japan on wifi but of course you have to get a UMA handset. This is a cool direction for Sprint to go in though.
Starbucks???
Is that a typo? I though T-Mobile was the exclusive Hotspot provider for Starbucks and Borders books and AT&T has a contract with Barnes & Noble. /;|
Does this mean T-Mobile is making money off of the iPhone without having a deal with Apple? Truly the "Jesus Phone." :P
New Feature...
It's got new feature with email. It uses T-Mobile's sms/mms plans for the email feature so don't have to have a data or Black Berry plan to send and receive emails, just a messaging plan. :D
Re: NSA Approves...
Totally, now customers will hand it over w/o a fight. Your world delivered....to the NSA...
Re: what disappoints me...
Not to worry you but I believe that they laid off approx. 5000 workers. They weren't dealers as far as I know. Probably TDMA field techs and the like. It's the most horrible suprise to get. I worked for AT&T Wireless and found out here on PhoneScoop that we were being purchased before hearing anything at work. They kept referring to it as a "merger" although that wasn't exactly the case. Cingular was moving in a direction I personally ...
Re: 2 Questions!
True, Department of Justice and the Security and Exchange Commission handles antitrust/monopoly stuff, not the FCC.
I wonder if it's because both departments have HUGE accounts with AT&T/Cingular for their BlackBerry Enterprise service??
Re: Can Someone who works for ATT please explain?
As far as I know, Verizon doesn't and I definitely know T-Mobile doesn't. I was actually shocked when I found out AT&T did this, LTV or not, that's pretty lame. Also saw on AT&T's site that there's a 10% restocking fee if you return the iPhone with the box open within the 14 day buyer's remorse. So a $50.00 fee just to try it out. This phone better come with three wishes too! :D
Any word on AT&T ...
Re: What's the addy?
It's the transfer protocol, rtsp://, 99% of phones today support .3gp but I still haven't gotten it to work with my MDA, Pearl, Wing or my Dad's Treo. http://tinytube.net works and is also in .3gp format but slow and unreliable. /;|
Anyone gotten this to work on AT&T/Cingular or T-Mobile?
None of my friends, nor myself, have gotten the rtsp:// protocol to work on any of our handsets or data devices? Anyone have a work around? http://tinytube.net is okay but not nearly as pretty. :?
Re: Helio charging for YouTube access!
That's pretty lame. Gotta read those terms & conditions! :o
Re: Internet Videos
Try tinytube.net
Re: Carrier????
Considering it's a GSM model and I would think Cingular wouldn't want to compete with their own iphone, that just leaves T-Mobile...maybe. Or Cingular/AT&T may offer a more affordable alternative to the Apple product...we'll see.
Re: Yes
It'll be here eventually. In the mean time, I'd put money on it that this BB will work with T-Mobile's UMA HotSpot @ home service launching next month. Getting unlimited minutes while near a WiFi router would be priceless for businesses.
Re: Family Share
Walmart sells Verizon and T-Mobile.
Re: SideKick
The Sidekick works differently than other devices as well. I uses a "relay service" so the info and the OS are virtually on the device. Basically, all of your games, emails, messages, contacts, ringtones and pictures are constantly being backed up on what they call the "Danger Server." The main advantage is that if you ever lose your device or if it's stolen, all your info is wiped clean of that Sidekick once the device is shut off and ...
Re: Who is this Targeting?
At first I thought this was a good idea and part of the target market would be the hearing impaired as many of them us Sidekicks but have no need for BlueTooth or MP3's but I've no idea why they didn't include a camera, even a simple VGA one. Kind of a bummer. /;|
Re: Great
Actually, that isn't true at all. T-Mobile only has roaming agreements with Cingular/AT&T in a handfull of States. There are more than two GSM carriers in the USA. If you want to see honest network representation w/o roaming partners, look at the maps at http://www.gsmworld.com/roaming/gsminfo/cou_u s.shtml
and you'll see that Cingular does have more towers, but they don't own "65% of T-Mobile's network."
Re: Great
The CEO of T-Mobile USA said that 50% of the 3G network was finished in NY and that was in September. I heard rumors of a rollout this Spring.
