Thanks for the reply. We stopped by a TMO store over the weekend to take a look at the Sidekick and I was informed of a few other "niceties"; outside of a standard $6/mo insurance fee, the deductible is a whopping $130 to replace the device! Then there is a $20/mo fee to support the Sidekick for fear of losing all stored information (e.g., phone book)? This is how it was expressed to us - more fodder for me to switch to ...

Seems expensie for a SMS/MMS only phone.

I know that it can do a few other "things" but no Wi-Fi, video player, etc for a Qwerty-board featured phone makes it difficult for me to consider purchasing for my daughter. Is this primarily a messaging and gaming device? What am I missing? (No flaming, please) Note that we have WM, Nokia and Moto devices and are used to each manufacturer's modding/hacking capabilities. Thanks for any insight.

How do you transfer/load/install them to your phone? Do you have a storage card? One thing that you could (should?) do is to open the phone's file manager and select Options, scroll to "File Browser Settings" and un-check all "Hides". Then go to the Windows folder, click soft key for "List View" and scroll to "jmm.exe" (this is the Java Midlet Manager). NOTE that when you un-check the "Hides" it takes a while for the phone to load the list as well as ...

v195 and Mobile Phone Tools (MPT)

I have and use MPT with my daughter's Razr v3 with no problems so when I thought to try it out with my wife's simpler v195 I found that the phone was not listed within (shows v190) and it will not recognize the phone. ???! Any thoughts, please? Thanks and best regards, Lovetoflyfish

V195? Not so fast...

in the Motorola V195 / V197 forum

I recently purchased a Motorola V195 for my wife to use and for me until my new permanent phone arrives. The V195 is well recommended by this forum/others but I have quickly found some, perhaps overlooked, problems that make me consider that I chose the wrong phone. First, the back-lighting on the keys is terrible at best. I can see letters and some of the center-column numerals but not the numbers on the sides. Yes, it is a standard ...

Has anyone purchased the SDA and got it to successfully work with a carrier other than T-Mobile, please? Thank you and best regards.

Wi-Fi on the 2125

Does anyone know if it is possible (software-wise) to use the mini-USB port on the 2125 to connect to a USB_to_Wi-Fi "dongle" adapter, please? Thank You

G-d works in mysterious ways, doesn't he?! Thank you for your kind and timely reply. By the way, would you have any tips on getting the most use from your "Smartphone" without getting ripped by the carrier? I figured on using Wi-Fi to retrieve email on occasion - it's not worth $50 extra a month for this or light web browsing. Best Regards

Wi-Fi

I am looking to (upgrade?) to a "Smartphone" and would like to know, given that the phone has a web browser and a Wi-Fi card, if it would have to be on the carrier's system or would the phone work like a laptop/PDA when connecting to the internet, please? The a-la-cart services seem to be insanely expensive! Thank you for any help/suggestions.
