It is not 3g. it has Edge, Bluetooth 2.0 and Wifi though. It is running a full version of os X. This is going to be a sweet phone. Check out Engadget.com for the live blog of the Apple Keynote. It will come out on Cingular BTW.

I had this problem as well for awhile. I checked and made sure that my timezone was correct. Mine was wrong so I changed it and it fixed the problem. If you checked this already I don't know what to do.

This is the best pda on Cingular right now. They do have an updated version of this coming out and I would suggest getting that. It should be out at the end of this week or so. It will be the Cingular 8525. It has a faster processor and some other tweaks. I don't know of any on line deals though. Sorry.

There might be a way to do it in the registry but not an easy way through notifications or anything like that.

You can put songs on your card and then touch and hold over the song to set it as a ring tone. That will copy it to your ring tone folder for you. You can't set songs as a ring tone with out having it on your phone's internal memory though.

It takes patience and practice. I had the same problem with my Nintendo DS when I got a protector. You just have to be careful and practice.

You would have to check around the internet for programs for Windows Mobile 5 or WM5. If you can get it for WM5 you can put it on this phone.

It has Wifi and Edge. That means you can use any hot spot and you can use your wireless carriers data as well. Just not their Wifi hot spots. Unless you pay of course.

You can't sync Via Wifi or GPRS. It was a function of active sync and they got rid of it. You can run and edit MS office docs on this device. You can't sync wirelesly for anything. Outlook or MP3's. As for signal it doesn't have the best signal. From my own experiance it does "ok" but not as good as it could be. How rural are you talking about? Also you have a 30 day window to return the phone ...

If you talk to retention they may be able to get you that plan. I don't know their options but you can provision it in the billing system so it isn't our of the question. As far as moving to Pre-paid I don't know if that is an option or not. Hopefully someone else can help you further.

Does it need a QWERTY keyboard? If it doesn't I would get the HTC P3600. It's a PDA form factor but doesn't have a QWERTY Keyboard. It will also make calls if needed. It hasn't been launched in the USA yet but it should be soon. If not go with the Treo 750w that was just released in Europe. Cingular will be getting it.

You can do it with a program from the XDA developers forums. It's called OmapClock. It will over clock your device untill it goes to sleep or you hit the power button. you can fix this with a little programming that they show you how to do in the forums. Hope this helps Soda

Entering their name isn't that hard. for example in the text message "to:" box you can type Steve. It will pull up all the steve's and you can then pick the number. It doesn't take long at all.

As far as dropping a data signal before you can make a call I have never had a problem. It turns off my data and places the call or turns off my data and rings my phone. Ok. I work as a Cingular Sales support rep. Basically my function is to teach our authorized dealers about our services. I don't claim to know everything but here is what I know as a rep and as an 8125 owner. You can use the $19.99 plan or any other media-net plan. According to Cingular though you should be on the 44.99 data only or 39.99 data w/voice PDA plan. The differences are confusing even to me but here it ...

Most Blackberries have that. It is magnetic switch in the phone. When you holster the phone there is a magnet in the holster that flips that switch and turns off the screen. I use the power button on my 8125 before I put it in my holster. It does the same thing basically. To answer your qustion simply. No the 8125 doesn't have a holster that does that. Blackberry is the only device I know of that has that feature.

Wrong. For the Redirector it does for the full fledged Blackberry enterprise server it doesn't. The server costs about $4,000 to buy. The redirector that comes with the blackberry itself is free.

Xpress mail is just like the Blackberry or any other desktop redirector. You have to have your desktop on to receive your mail. It will only forward e-mails in your Inbox so if you have different sub folders with rules that sort your mail only the mail that stays in your inbox will be forwared to your phone. It will allow you to delete your e-mail on your phone and it will delete it out of your outlook as ...

The main reason for the price hike would be the amount of data you are going to use. As an example I have the Cingular 8125 and work for them. Our plan for a regular phone for unlimited data is 19.99. The price for a PDA phone with unlimited data is 39.99. I had a SE W600I and used the internet all the time and never went over 5mb of data. I use my 8125 and I have over 20MB ...
