Boom Sounds and Ultrapixels
I really think HTC did themselves a disservice with Boomsound and the "Ultrapixel" experiment. The Boomsound sounds great, but takes up a lot of space on the front of the phone that could be used to fit more screen. How often does one really sit and watch a video or listen to music without headphones in. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I rarely do. I'd rather have more screen and less speaker.
The Ultrapixel camera ...
Slow speeds
I'm trying to be patient, but the LTE "speeds" are really subpar in my area. On average I'm seeing 3-5 mbps down and 1-3 mbps up. 3g speeds are still horrible. I'm in Baltimore fwiw.
Re: Engraving
This whole customization process is devaluing the phone. Having a phone heavily customized will hurt the resale value. But I guess this phone is not being marketed to people that like to switch up devices a lot.
Re: Back buttons?
Looks like the little brackets on the side on the button are raised, so it couldn't be pressed if placed on a flat surface.
Be wary if you have any kind of discount.
Currently I have an unlimited shared data plan, all things considered its $150 a month for 2 smartphones. I get a 27% discount through my job which is applied to the base of the plan which is currently $110.
The new My Way unlimited also comes up to $150, but is $90 for the base and $60 for the data. Sprint ONLY APPLIES THE DISCOUNT TO THE DATA, in my case, the $60 which would pretty much cut ...
Vine???
I wonder what this will do for Vine's rapid growth. I know I personally didn't want to join Vine because I didn't want the hassle of joining another social networking app.
A lot of people already have Instagram and it will be easier to do all of your photo and video filtering in one app.
Re: Why in these reviews are Music sound quality never discussed
I think a "music sound quality" review would be purely subjective. These guys are phone reviewers, they are probably not experts when it comes to music sound.
Most users aren't audiophiles and the type of sound that appeals to the reviewer, may not appeal to you. They may use earbuds and you use over the ear headphones.
I think if you want an in depth review of the music sound, you can find it on youtube or something.
Re: Let me put it even simpler
I totally understand what you're saying, I just think its the complete ooposite. Of course I can't speak for all Blackberry users, but the ones I know that are still holding on do so because of their BBM contacts. Espcially my friends with family overseas, its the cheapest way they can communicate without a computer.
BB user comes due for an upgrade. They walk in the store and can get the iPhone, a Galaxy phone, the HTC ...
Re: What it really means...
The one thing that kept current Blackberry users from jumping ship is now going to be available to everyone. If they thought their phone sales numbers were poor before...
Re: Or...
I thought the Note 2 had Airview through the S pen? Or are you saying you want to be able to do it with your finger? Or am I all wrong? lol
Re: Time to say "Bye Sprint"
One could easily get $300-$400 for a gently used S4 or HTC One on ebay/CL and pay off that bill. Anyway, I'm sure the TMobile model doesn't work for everyone and thats fine, I'm not asking anyone to agree with me. I'm just sharing my thought process. Sprint absolutely stinks in my town in terms of data speeds. If they were good, I wouldn't have posted anything. TMobile just launch their LTE service here and its ...
Re: Time to say "Bye Sprint"
No where in my post did I say I was looking into T-Mobile because of a loyalty program. I was simply pointing out that all the things that made Sprint attractive to me are now all but gone. You make a ton of claims about T-Mobile service as if you tested it with every device in every state. You haven't, so in that regard, your personal experience means very little to me.
Their $70 plan DOES include 500mbs of hotspot, ...
Time to say "Bye Sprint"
This $249 price is probably gonna be the final straw for me. Sprint took away all the perks of being a long time customer, but they're offering a whole $100 off if you switch to them? Now they're charging $249 for the S4? Their 3g has been garbage for over a year now and their 4g LTE coverage map is full of lies.
I was gonna re-up with them because they offer the cheapest plans, but TMobile ...
Re: Huge!!!!
Agreed. This is more of the direction they need to focus on as there phone business continues to flounder.
It depends on the user
I agree that there should be more variety in this regard. It seems like the smaller phones they make now are just messaging phones, or entry level smartphones. I for one cannot use anything smaller than a 4.3 inch screen. I had an Evo3d and broke it. I got a Nexus4g off CL because I was in between upgrades and this 4 inch screen is just a pain for me. The keyboard feels cramped, the ...
Re: more: vs. iPhone 5
How would you say the camera compares overall to the Galaxy S3 and the Iphone 5? I'm due for an upgrade and having 2 young kids, the camera is one of the most important features for me. Thanks.
Nooooooooo!
I love tweetdeck for the integration with FB. I wonder if Tweetdark will still work, or does it need Tweetdeck to be operational in order to run?
Re: No New York?
I just think Sprint should put its focus on the bigger markets, rather than launching all these small cities in an effort to say they cover a bunch of people with LTE. When Verizon launched its LTE, they did it in NY, Chi, LA etc first, then branched out.
No New York?
Is there some kind of logistic roadblock that keeps Sprint from launching its LTE in NY? Why are all these small cities getting it, while a major city like NY is stuck with crappy 3g speeds?
No Stylus???
I don't have a Note 2, so I can't say if its really required or just a novelty, but why is there no stylus with this device? I'd miagine it'd be nice to use when operating a device so big.
Why use the name "One" again???
HTC dropped the underwhelming "One series" last year. Why would they name their new "flagship" device the same thing?
I would have thought the smarter play would be to come up with something totally new.
Re: Is Beats worth it.
There is no "premium" to have Beats Audio on your phone. Most of there new phones have it included and there is a hack to add it to your existing rooted phone.
Re: quick question about evo 3d ics...
Just wait a few days. Fresh will make a new rom based off the Sprint release.
Re: Why bother now......this is why apple rules
I'm a loyal Sprint and Anroid customer and can't even argue with this. Android is just too fragmented at this point. Too many different devices running too many variations of Android. They need to take a step back, stop pumping out new devices every 3 months and streamline their OS.
Re: 8 months later
Unless you're rooted. :D
Re: Instagram on Android is FTL!..
What makes it useless for Android? I don't understand what you mean by that.
Re: I don't understand...
It's not a branch new phone, its exactly what you said. For someone like you, coming from an older device its a worthy upgrade. For someone who already owns an Iphone 4, its not worth it at all when they can just upgrade the software.
Re: Sprint is the best!!
Maybe not drop it, but I can see them at least raising the price or raising the "premium data charge." I think as long as they stay below the competition people will always say "Yeah they raised the price, but Sprint is still cheaper than those guys."
Re: Maybe Not
The whole "phone lasts 3-4 hours" argument is so tired. Iphones don't last forever on a single charge, especially if you're a heavy user. If you have half a brain, you know how to get at minimum a work days charge out of your phone. Other than Apple, every other phone company makes phones where the battery can be replaced with the same, or even *gasp* and extended battery. They've also created these things called battery ...
Worth the upgrade???
I'm an Android user, but not an Apple basher. I've used my friends Iphone and its great, but is this I4S worth paying $200-$400 for if you already own an I4? Outside of the processor and the camera, the real upgrades are in the operating system which will be made available to I4 users. Most Iphone users will not notice the increase in speed between the A4 and the A5 chip. The I4S is a good ...
Re: Sprint is the best!!
For now. Once the network gets overloaded with all the apple fanboys that are going to just ship to Sprint, they'll change their tune. Just like the changed, then eliminated the Premier program and upped the ETF. As a Sprint customer, I hope they prove me wrong.
Re: Nokia derserves . .
Why don't they sell their phones in the US anymore? Do they feel like they can't compete? I don't get it.
Whats with the fruity names?
Not looking to start a flame war or anything, but whats with Microsoft naming their mobile software versions after fruit, similar to android and their dessert based names. I think it's kind of cheesy and unoriginal.
Re: Disabling HTC Sense UI
Just use a different home screen launcher. I'm pretty sure you don't have to be rooted to do so. I am rooted and have been so for a while so I can't remember, but ADW launcher is what you want to use if you want the stock Android look. You just lose all the widgets that Sense comes with.
I personally use Launcher Pro and love it.
Re: I love Sprint are there any negatives? , comment..
+1 on the marketing. I want Sprint to do with the Evo, what Verizon did with the Droid. The Evo commercials are to few and far between and they don't really hammer home the Evo name like they should.
Other than that, they can't be beat in terms of their combination of phone, plans and speed.
Re: A couple questions on specs...
4gbs of ROM
1gb of Ram
Comes with an 8gb card, which can be increased up to 32gbs.
No idea on the screen tho.
Re: wheres the hdmi output?
The specs say it works thru the micro usb and wirelessly through DLNA.
There is no kickstand.
Re: What took so long?
And by then 4D will be out. 8O
Re: Disappointed
My mistake on the keyboard, but the TP2 had a 5 row and that was a thousand years ago. I don't think 4g is overrated at all. Most users do keep it off, but its nice to have the option. Believe it or not, i was in a building that had no 3g coverage the other day, but it had 4g and I was able to put it on on my Evo and use it. ...
Disappointed
3.6 inch screen? No 4g? No FFC? No 5-row keyboard? It seems like the phone will be obsolete by the time it comes out.
