For some clarification on software upgrades for phones that take away certain functionalities: The manufacturer--(motorola, lg, etc...) are the ones that push new software to the carriers, when there is a change or a problem in a certain phone, the manufacture issues software to fix this problem. I'm currently working for a cellular company and see many phones on a daily basis with different problems. On the 8100, the only problems that I've seen with this phone is when it first came out.
