Umm, yeah, there's no flash. I don't know where you got that info from.. 3rd party source? Anyway, to turn tge exturnal backlight on, just hold any of the volume keys down for about a second.. and if you hold down the camera button, it will activate the camera so you can take 'self portraits'

The soung quality is fine for me, just don't get a razr, I was so discusted with it I returned it for another [much better] phone
