What's the story on the unlocked overseas phones ?

in the Motorola KRZR K1 forum

I've seen several K1's for sale on Ebay, Plemix etc and they all seem to be from Hong Kong or somewhere overseas and include with them a power converter. How do you know what you're getting from these sellers ? Very few include any kind of disclosure about the warranty. People posting merchant reviews seem to have trouble getting Motorola to handle any issues that come up. Some sellers say they'll deal with DOA phones but not much else. Is ...

I don't suppose anyone has any availability dates

It's not so helpful for Motorola to say 2nd half of 2006 when it's already the 2nd half of 2006. Anyone have a clue as to when it'll be possible to buy one of these (any of the new models).

I was able to find a little more info on these phones. For one thing, they use a screen built by Sharp (old RAZR used a Toshiba). The V3x has higher resolution as well. The V3i has more metal. Strangely enough, neither has Edge GPRS. At least not yet.

Other then Camera/Itunes, any big reason to upgrad from a RAZR ?

I'm not a big camera/music user (at least with a phone). I was looking at getting a RAZR, RAZR V3i (V3x), V360. I didn't see any features in the V3i worth the extra $100. Does the phone function any better then the original RAZR ? Better signal, voice quality, battery etc ? Any advice between these 4 phones ? Thanks, Ben

What upgraded phones are coming from Motorola

in the Motorola V635 forum

I'm interested in this phone but read from one of the later reviews that Motorola was launching better phones (not sure in what way) in the next few months. Anyone have any idea of what they are or any details ? I do remember seeing articles about a new Razr coming but that's it.

Re: Any substantial phone upgrades from the CDM-8500

Thanks, that's been my experience so far. I didn't want to replace the phone unless there was a good reason to expect much better. Guess there isn't.

How does this one compare to the V635 ?

On paper they look nearly identical except for the hidden antenna and the smaller weight. Any other reason to consider this phone instead ?

Any substantial phone upgrades from the CDM-8500

in the Virgin Mobile forum

I've had this phone for a few years now and it's just barely acceptable. Call clarity is substantially worse then my friends Motorola on T-Mobile. I miss calls due to the weak ringer and weak vibrate mode. I like it's size but I swear I will never manually enter addresses into a phone again. I do wish Virgin had a bit more selection of handsets. Has anyone out there upgraded their 8500 to an 8912 or similar ? Did you ...

Can I use an unlocked CDMA phone with Virgin Mobile ?

in the Virgin Mobile forum

I have Virgin Mobile now and use an Audiovox-8500 phone. The phone is nice and small but it just borderline functional. I borrowed a friends Motorola (V550) and was shocked at how much better it sounded. It was like talking on a land line. I'm not sure how much of that is my phone and how much is the Spring Network. I'd love to buy a highly rated CDMA phone and use it on Virgin Mobile. Their reps tell me ...
