It's known that the w810 isn't famous for having the best speakerphone out there. The main speaker though is quite good, sometimes it can be real loud, or other times just right or too soft, though I believe it has to do with the people you are talking to on the other end and the device( landline or cell phone ) they are using to talk with. Overall, the main speaker is excellent.

I bought my w810i from wireless_experts off of eBay, been happy with it every since. I've tried doing the over the air update, but it keeps coming back saying I have the latest firmware, so Im not sure if it works exactly. I say go for the eBay route, just buy from a trusted seller, one who has lots of feedback.
Chances are if you buy it from Cingular, it will be locked, as they are starting to lock ...

It has to be sooner than Dec/Jan, especially if Best Buy and Amazon have it. Also Cingular has the phone listed as an option if you want to download music/wallpapers from their site, so yeah, it'll be here shortly, at least from them.

As far as I can tell, the mic doesn't pick up excess noise, at least I had nobody said to me that they could hear excess stuff going on in the background. I had a SE T637 and I know what you mean, I've had people ask what that noise was and I didn't even hear it, it was crazy how sensitive the mic was. There is actually a 3rd version too, one for the Asian market. I don't think there is a difference at all between the 3 phones, and not sure why SE made 3 and not 1. My only guess is the language associated with each, the 520a may just have English, while the 520i has multiple languages. There all quad band so it shouldn't matter what version you get, its going to work regardless.
