So I had the itch big time to go get this phone on Monday (3/31/08). I've been a more-than-satisfied 8100, 8310 user. I went to my local ATT corp. store to pick one up, and the manager there said it's only going to be available on the ATT website, and not in stores, till May. I'll buy it online if that's true, but I'd much rather buy it @ my local store in case I change ...

Sure, but you gotta realize that people would get this phone thinking, "oh this will be an inexpensive emailing device instead of getting a treo or blackberry." It's pretty silly that you can't send a MMS from landscape mode. I don't know much about making or designing cell phones, but how hard would it have been to enable MMS at least in the landscape mode.

You folks need to realize that you CAN NOT email from landscape mode either... you can send test messages, but not email... so if that's why you want this phone, don't get it... also, this phone DOES NOT have speakerphone... just so you know.

Do you have this phone??? Cuz if you did you'd know that you CAN'T email when the phone is opened to landscape/qwerty position. The phone was a great concept that didn't really work out. Come on Samsung

Yeah. Amen. I don't know about you guys, but PTT isn't catching on at my store. Maybe it would if there were a phone us reps could stand using that had the feature. Hey nokia~ any time now.

not that I have heard anything substantial to run with, but I also heard my Cingular rep mention a 3-year contract in passing this week. He was telling me they were restructuring his pay and some of the wording was "2-year or greater contracts"... that's all I got...

I'll buy the whole "leave the bluetooth out to keep costs down", but not on a phone that is being used to launch your brand new 3G network!!! ...and what's with Samsung leaving no-brainer features out on just about every phone???(ie. no speakerphone on the d307, no calendar on the x497, etc.) Why don't these guys run these phones by me before they put these blunders out on the shelf?

In regards to you having to copy your contacts repeatedly- Are you referring to the phone asking you, "copy new contacts from SIM?" every time you turn the phone on? I have the 6682, and I too was confused by this, thinking that I needed to hit "yes" every time or my contacts wouldn't be on the phone. However, once you've copied them the first time, you can select "no" from then on, and the contacts will still be ...

I have personally seen this done. I work for a carrier other than Verizon, and at my location alone there have been 5-10 Verizon customers that have used this very loophole to get out of there agreement without an ETF. It takes some persistence, as Verizon will try to NOT let you get out. For instance: they would attempt to credit the customer's account back the .40 cents for a period of time. Usually ...
