Re: Not as good. . .
I hope you are kidding...
But if you really don't know it's because they want you to get a data plan. You get wifi and your cheap ass prosumer self won't opt for the data plan and get their ARPU up.

Re: Cingular 8525 vs. Cingular Treo 750
I tell you why...
The 8525 form factor, that is shares with the 8125/6700, is not great if you want a device that is going to be used as a phone. Reason why:
Dialing off the screen sucks.
Having to open the keyboard every time you to type anything, making it a 2 handed device, sucks.
Having to use the stylus for common tasks, again 2 handed, sucks.
I have lived wth both types of devices and I would go with the Palm ...
Re: See, they say Q killer. . .
RIM's empire? Are you kidding me?
Re: Phone gets Exchange email - NOT OUTLOOK
Two options:
1) Get an exchange server.
-or-
2) Change the option so you don't delete the emails off the server when sent to your phone.
Re: ActiveSync asks for device SMS address
If your company already has a GoodLink server then talk to your Exchange/Good Admin. They can push the Good Client out to your phone.
If you don't have a server you can download the trial here:

Yawn...
I hate to be negative but on what planet is this news? RIM hasn't come up with a compelling phone or new service in years. They announce this today but it might be weeks, months, or years (i.e. - blackberry connect) before they actually deliver.
Re: AKU2 Update?
Later this year. Maybe.
Re: They use blackberries Re: Not for BMW Executives
You should use GoodLink if you want push on the Q. It's the best enterprise mobile messaging platform out there.
Re: Goodlink?
Yes, you do. You might want to look at hosted exhange like:

Re: touchscreen?
Nope. Smartphone doesn't have touchscreen.
Re: Why not a camera free version? - It's called a Blackberry
Yeah, but you have to carry a BlackBerry which is a crappy PDA as well as sub-par phone.
You might want to look at the new Nokia E61/E62. I don't think it has a camera.
Re: Motorola Q or Treo 650?
As a fellow Mac-tard I would probably recommend getting the Treo 650. I have used a Q (pre-production) and a lot of other Windows devices (6600, 6700, 6515, 8125, 2125, etc.) and always come back to the Treo. I would suggest getting the 700p unless you have no hope of getting EVDO in your area anytime soon.
Re: Outlook 2003 Small biz with exchange
FYI:
The Q is not shipping with MSFP (Messaging & Security Feature Pack) so you will not be able get "push email". You can do scheduled pull email delivery or manual synchronization like you have with Windows Mobile 2003 devices is all that is available.
Re: I feel that.
if you are going to get the 8125 I would wait to get the UMTS version coming out this summer.
Re: B2B and Q vs Treo 700p
I think the limit for a B2B account is 5 lines. Maybe somebody here confirm that for you or just call vzw and find out.
As far as the Q vs. 700P - the Q has the 700p beat on coolness but for everyday, especially one handed, use the 700p is my choice. We have a couple of them here in house and I keep going back to the 700p.
Please keep in mind this is my 2 cents ...
Re: Question about push e-mail
It's simple alright. Simple and limited. But if your company doesn't require security and doesn't plan on supporting alot of devices it's a cheap solution.
Re: Question about push e-mail
Yeah, push exchange is great.
Let's see how MS Exchange push matches up:
It has limited/no fleet management, doesn't sync everything, is a data hog (slow), can be difficult to install, requires inbound firewall port, limited security, has no support, needs third party solutions to complete the wireless needs of an enterprise. I can go on if you would like.
Re: Q and a Mac
Nope. It's Windows Mobile Lite.
Get the Treo 700p.
Re: Question about push e-mail
If you have exchange - which I guess you don't - you could use GoodLink to do the push email.
Microsoft is an option but only if you are a small company. It is not a ready for prime time solution.
Re: Q release looks liek the 24th
That's what I heard too.
Re: First true world phone?
Price should be releatively low for a "smartphone".
Might want to reconsider using BB connect - that is a dog with many, many fleas.
Re: "mini"
It's still a blackberry though...
Re: INFO--Verizon infamous for delayed releases....
Hey - if it's worth anything...
The Q will rock. I have seen it, played with it and it really cool phone and PDA. Would I trade my Treo 650 for it? Nope. I have had almost every Win Mobile 5 device and PocketPC phone out there and I keep going back to the 650.
If I had to pick a favorite Smartphone it would be the Cingular 2125. Great phone, good OS, integrates with GoodLink but no qwerty. Nobody is ...
Re: Users Manual
Limited Fleet Management - how do you support this device in the field? You have no visability into the device/network.
Data Hog - transmits lots of data. Which might be important if you want to get phone calls (CDMA routes calls to voicemail while in a data session).
Yes, SP2 can be a pain in the ass.
Yup, you are totally secure by adding a server in the DMZ.
192-Bit AES Encryption plus transport security. Encrytion of local data bases including SD Cards. ...
Re: Users Manual
SP2 has limited/no fleet management, doesn't sync everything, is a data hog, can be difficult to install, requires inbound firewall port, limited security, has no support...
That being said, if you have nothing else or have never used a Blackberry or GoodLink you will be happy.
Re: Users Manual
Beware: SP2 is not all it's cracked up to be...
I heard goodlink is going to be available for q at or near release date. 8)
Re: This is Cool!!
Yeah, and how's the battery life...
Re: Built in GPS work with Prepaid?
FYI - I have a 6515 and the GPS works without a SIM.
Re: For Sale on Ebay
those are scam ads.
Re: Attention Verizon:
IMHO:
1) The Q will probably launch this month.
2) It will be very, very cool.
3) It will be a crappy phone.
4) It will be a marginal PDA.
5) It will have terrible battery life.
6) It will still be very, very cool.
So ask yourself - is having a cool but marginal phone/pda worth the wait?
BTW - Verizon is a 500lbs gorilla in marketing their brand. Most of their perception in coverage is based on when they were the domanant carrier in analog ...
Re: Black or Silver???
the one we have is silver.
Re: Well who will this phone be for....
It will be Cingular. Should be a good update to the 6515.
Re: Can't wait!
Blackberry will never, ever be the best smartphone on the market. I wouldn't even classify it as a smartphone. More of dumb terminal with bad DOS interface.
Re: Question about Broadband????
it should.
Re: Price anyone?
It will be less since it is just a smartphone (OS).
Re: No touch screen?
ugh, avoid the 6700 if you can.
Re: why is nokia sooo dumb
this phone is going to aimed at corporate (enterprise class) customers. cameras aren't what companies want.
plus, with out all the extra consumer crap this phone should come in at a very aggesive price point.
Re: Release Information: A clue from the FCC
You can infer all kinds of things but I bet the release date will slip...
Re: Wait for Moto Q or not?
don't get your panties in a bunch and start yelling in ALL CAPS.
FYI - yes, the treo 650 does.
Re: Wait for Moto Q or not?
Can't say. Sorry.
