Actually it does. You can even download file attachments from your email and view them on the phone.
Re: LG Watch Phone
I read somewhere that it is Quad Band GSM, has an MP3 player, Bluetooth, and Voice activated dialing. According to LG there are currently no plans to release it...but they have shown it at CES, World Congress, and CTIA so my guess is that they are just waiting on a carrier to bite on it.
Re: Send/menu change tones
I have the phone and I can confirm that you can now disable the annoying tone that went off everytime you changed a menu item or sent a text message. There is actually a lot more control regarding alerts and stuff that was missing on the CU500.
Re: Handsets?
Unless they come out with a new hardware revision of the 9900 there is no way that the 9900 it will work with MediaFlo. Also if you notice the first wave of MediaFlo handsets that come out all have an external or extendable antenna so again there is no way the 9900 would work since the antenna is internal.
Where is the phone?!
Interesting that in all the pictures on the site they don't show the other side of the "phone". To me it looks like Samsung just released a new MP3 player and a PMP...I'd like to see how this is an actual "phone".
Re: making text messages vibrate?
Sadly no...this bugs the crap out of me because a lot of times I don't hear the text alert / chime :?
Re: Verizon TV?!?!?!
Actually Verizon has an exclusive on MediaFLO for a year I belive. It was announced at CES or CTIA last year that Verizon would be the first to launch the service. Sprint had been very quite about its MobileTV plans until they let slip that their VUE trial was actually a MediaFlo trial.
When this launches you can expect to have 10-15 channels of Live TV and several more of On-Demand "clip-casts" similar to what you can currently get through ...
Re: Rip off of the RAZR, KRZR, and BLADE.
It is nice to know there are people on here who don't just make random unfounded claims and actually know what they are talking about. :D
Re: Can anybody tap into this?
The way I understand it your phone has to authenticate itself on the carriers network and will be assigned a "key" that will allow it to decode the MediaFlo signal. So it isn't enough that you just have a MediaFlo enabled phone, they are gonna make you pay extra to recieve the broadcasts.
Re: Size/weight
Are you sure they were not talking about the KRZR (4.06)? I double checked the spec sheet I have again and it says 3.98". I don't actually have a phone to measure myself so it could be a typo but I kinda doubt it.
Re: Size/weight
Dimensions: 3.89" (H) x 1.93" (W) x 0.58" (D)
Weight: 3.26 oz.
Re: Colors - Especially White>Info
I have heard this as well...can't wait!
Just to clear things up a bit before someone gets all bent: All Chocolates that are going to start shipping soon (regardless of color) are going to come loaded with the newest s/w that enables the speakerphone. Existing owners can get the s/w upgraded on their phone once it is released to the various stores.
Re: NEW!!!!!!!!!!!
From what I've heard it will definatly be before x-mas.
Re: NEW!!!!!!!!!!!
White is definatly coming...and sooner than people think
Re: Software Update Soon; speakerphone included
Yeah that was me that posted that and just to give an update the new s/w is starting to be released, you can get more info here:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthre ad.php?t=1002325
For the lazy the speakerphone HAS been added :D
Re: Does this have speakerphone???? -- The Chocolate WILL SOON
New s/w is starting to be released:

Re: Still bluetooth 1.1 ???
I am pretty sure it is still 1.1
Re: Does this have speakerphone????
Uhhhh..did you even look at the "Specs" post in this forum before posting? It might just answer your questions...
Re: Why???????
Uhhh...I don't think the Korean or UK versions of this phone (or the 8500) were ever "Chocolate" in color. I do agree that the checkerboard keypad was better looking than this one :paranoid:
Re: The Specs....to clear up confusion
There is a s/w update for the 8500 that is going to be release very soon that will add speakerphone as well as some other stuff (see my post here: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t= 979810&page=10&pp=15)
I was simply making a point that it will come with the speakerphone option at launch and not a few months later after they realize it was a bad idea to leave it off like the 8500.
Re: The Specs....to clear up confusion
Honestly the 8500 only has 1 speaker and it doesn't bother me. I mean how often do you use the external speaker to listen to music other than annoying the people you work with??!? If you want the full stereo experience you are gonna have to stick with the 8300.
The Specs....to clear up confusion
Since everyone keeps starting new threads asking if the phone has this or that I'll just post what is known so far (collected from various sites as well as "people in the know")
Screen: 176x220 262k TFT
Speaker: Mono (on the front of the phone)
Speakerphone: Yes (available at launch unlike the 8500)
Stereo BT: Yes
Removable Memory: MicroSD
Camera: 1.3 MP
Flash UI: Yes (new themes)
Basically this phone is the love child of the 8500 and the 8300. Pricing should fall right inbetween the two ...
Re: Does it have Stereo Speakers or Mono Speaker?
It has a mono speaker like the 8500, and it will have a speakerphone function at launch.
I bought...and I'm happy
I've had this phone for a little bit and besides the lack of a speakerphone I couldn't be happer with it. Reception is good, touch sensitive buttons are easy to use once you get the hang of it, music player works great, whats not to like?!?!
Re: Got my hands on Chocolate tonight and it reminded me how much I liked vanilla !
While I respect your opinion, my experience with the phone has been excellent:
Sure the first day I had the phone it was a bit awkward to use the touch-sensitive buttons, but once I set the sensitivity to the level that works best for me it works great. At first I was trying to mash the buttons like a regular push-button but it just takes a delicate touch to get the phone to respond.
As for the keypad being small, show ...
Moto copying LG?!?! Who would have thought....
I guess Moto is trying to trump LG at its own game by using touch sensitive buttons on the KRZR. While this phone looks pretty nice...I'd still rather have a Chocolate.
Re: WOW!!! THIS PHONE IS NICE
I read on another forum that it is $129 w/2 year and $250 w/o contact. Don't hold me to that as none of the stores in my area have any.
Re: A900 killer?
On another site I heard reports that people have already purcahsed the phone and that it was $129 w/2year and $250 w/o contract. I have not been able to confirm this but if you live in a 3G market I'd call your local cingular store and see if they can give you anymore info.
Re: About the design
I somewhat agree with you on this. The Korean/European Choc was a lot more elegant than the US version. I would gladly give up the music features of the phone to have the US version be cleaner looking and thinner (the US version appears to have put on some weight). However there are millions of people out there who have never seen the origional Chocolate and will proably eat this phone up. :D
Re: What software is needed to connect to PC?
You have to go into the tools menu and actiave the "USB Flash Drive" option when you have the phone connected to your PC.
Re: I miss the hidden D pad
I think his point is that the navigation buttons appear to be visable even when the red backlighting is not on. On the GSM Chocolate when the lights are off all of the nav keys are completely hidden.
Re: i'm confused.
If you want a slim folder instead you can get yourself the LG KG810 Chocolate Clamshell:
http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_kg81 0-1576.php
Clamshells are getting old IMHO, I'll go for the slider :)
Re: nobody seems to like the name...
I like the name myself and think that it is actually a pretty creative marketing tactic by LG. The problem that most people seem to have with the name is that they are taking it literally (blame the RAZR). The phone isn't brown and we all know it doesn't look like a real chocolate bar, but it does pique everyones interest when they here the name. I belive they are trying to make more of an emotional connection with ...
Re: Questions about the specs
You bring up some good questions, but I'm pretty sure the standby time is a typo. There is now way any phone these days has that short of a standby time.
Re: NIce phone for Sprint users!!!!!!!!!
LOL...I can see that as the carries like to fu*k the customer with over-priced downloads, but I think LG intended the name to be the fusion of "fun and music"
Re: flash ui is over rated
Actually you are only half right. The new flash UI not only allows you to change the colors of the "red bars" but it also gives you a few new options for a completely different look/feel. The basic structure of the UI cannot be changed but the manner it is presented to the end user can now be somewhat customized.
Re: Better than VX8300/VX8400
It is better, the 8300 is basically a slimmer more affordable version of the 8100. It doesn't have a 3MP camera or the QVGA display. The A990 is a high end phone where the 8300 is probably going to fall into the upper end of the mid tier at Verizon.
Re: hidden external display?
It means that the outside casing of the phone is a tinted acrylic like material and when the front display is not on you can't tell it is really there. If you check the specs/pics of the phone on the site here you should be able to see what I am talking about.
Re: Go LG!
I agree. Adding the FM transmitter is a cool idea. I think Sony Ericsson sells something like that as an accessory but to have it built right in is awsome. I also like the faceplate thing, there are too many phones that are pretty cool but I just dont like the colors the carriers/manufactures choose for them so this way i can customize it to my liking.
Shady Past?
Lifted from Fierce Wireless:
As we reported last week, another prepaid MVNO called cool.Prepaid entered the market running on Cingular's network and offering Motorola's RAZR V3 handsets. Reports are circling the Internet today that Motorola has rescinded its agreement to provide handsets for subscribers to the MVNO and, we assume, the negotiations to have Motorola help cool.Prepaid bring iRadio services to its customers are also over.
While we can only speculate as to the reasons for Motorola's decision, a reader tipped ...
