I went through the Handango process last week to download the app (I don't remember the details). Today, when I installed the app on my phone, I was not prompted for a registration code. I started a text message and the predictive text worked.

I have the MSI Star Key (USB). When I first installed it on my corporate laptop, I used the Widcomm drivers because the laptop had XP SP1. But, whenever I pulled out the Star Key, I would get a blue screen. (Sorry, I can't remember the dll that did it.) Once I updated to XP SP2, I had the same problem with the Widcomm, so I uninstalled Widcomm and went with the XP SP2 ...

I'm in NC, but have better than expected reception going through VA (I-77) and WV (Turnpike) when I wasn't deep in a valley.

Most folks have said that the reception on the 6682 is excellent. Could you have a hardware problem? In my case, the 6682 reception is excellent. It picks up a signal much, much better than my previous phone (Nokia 3120) and much better than my colleagues. I no longer have to walk to the window to make/take a call; my colleagues with Cingular have to walk to the window.

More discussion on availability of the 6682 is at http://forums.cingular.com/cng/board?boar d.id=nokia Recently, it appears that if you order from Cingular, even though they say "don't know" on when it will be available, it has been taking a week to 10 days.

I'm not taking either side in this situation, but in my personal experience (since Sept 05) has been that Cingular CSRs and store personnel are poorly trained. :( I have examples, but I will spare you all the details other than to say that I got shipped a phone without it being activated; that the phone, when finally activated, was added to another person's account (so when I called for support they said I wasn't the owner ...

I think very, very few companies would stop selling a hot phone because of a few bugs that are minor bugs to the majority of users. My guess is that either they are actually running out of them (hot sales) or they are tired of eating the cost of higher than normal returns (due to the bugs). I'm also guessing it doesn't help keep the return rate low when it seems that all Cingular support and stores can say ...

I'll let the others respond about the built in email app since I don't use it. As far as the Calendar goes, I've had no issues with it. I rely on it heavily to keep me in line. However, I am not crazy about the sync capabilities of Nokia's PC Suite, particularly with Contacts, but it's fine if you keep things simple. Must Have: Autolock, http://fuse.stc.cx/autolock/ Really Nice to Have: FExplorer ($0), http://www.gosymbian.com XXLSS ($0, easier to read clock screensave), http://www.gosymbian.com Other things I have: OggPlay to play music, SourceForge ($0) SplashID to keep frequent flyer info ($0 for the phone software) WorldMate to get weather forecast, flight status, more ($25) NiceCalc for a much easier to use calculator ($7)

I am. The Kingston 512MB. But, I haven't done any comparison to the RS MMC that Nokia included with the phone. I never knew that the mobile MMC was faster until a couple days ago. (I've had the Kingston for a few weeks now.) http://www.kingston.com/digitalmedia /mmc_mobile.asp

Well, the mobile MMC goes that fast. The question is - does the phone support that speed? I don't know. In Sept, I believe Samsung announced 1G dv RS-MMC, but I didn't see any availability dates.

Re: Is the problem Cingular or Audiovox? Is Nokia better?
Oct 16, 2005, 7:27 PM
in the Nokia 6682 / 6681 forum

I have not used ActiveSync (for the Audiovox), but the 6682 has only the most basic syncing capabilities. I was very disappointed. You can easily and cleanly sync Outlook with the 6682 using the Nokia PC Suite, BUT you must have a basic/simple Outlook configuration. All your information must either be on the Exchange Server or in the Personal Folder. You can't sync easily with data from both. You can't sync something from Exchange (e.g., Calender) at ...

I haven't had that problem, but I know of at least one number in my contacts that does not display the name. It's number is entered into Outlook the same way as the other numbers. I suspect an Outlook/sync issue, but I haven't debugged it yet. The number is my Mom's, so I recognize the caller id without needing the name. ;-)

Has anyone lost the logs WITHOUT powering off? This happened to me the other day. And, yes, I am sure I didn't power off. Also, has anyone lost their 1-touch dial settings? This has happened to me twice, but I haven't determined what might have caused it. Finally, whenever I get a voice message, my phone tells me I have 15 new messages. When I check new messages, there is only the one. I also checked old ...

Yes, I have a Kingston. It works fine. Make sure you get the dual voltage RS-MMC. Kingston calls it MMC Mobile. If you go to their home page, you can use their memory search on the front page (Nokia -> 6682) to get the part number, MMCM/512. ;-) http://www.kingston.com/digitalmedia/m mc_mobile.asp?tabs=ds

I'm clogsdon. :D Wrangler's post is hard to follow. His profile says he has a 6620, so I presumed his wife had the 6682 with the 3004. I thought he was saying he took his 3002 out of his 6620 and put it into his wife's 6682. But, later in his post he says the newer one (presumably the 3004) worked and the older one (presumable the 3002) didn't. So, it is confusing. How did ...

Flaky DKU-2 cable connection on 6682
Sep 28, 2005, 10:01 AM
in the Nokia 6682 / 6681 forum

When I connect the 6682 to the DKU-2 cable that came with the phone, the cable locks in, but a slight wiggle of the cable (e.g., when setting the phone down on my desk) causes the electrical connection to fail. For example, when I plug in the cable, PC Suite says that the phone is connected, but when I set the phone down, PC Suite says the phone is disconnected. I can wiggle the cable every so ...
