When _I_ use the rocker, it moves the ring volume from 5 to silent. If I am on a call, it moves the ear piece volume up or down.
No need to go through the menus

There are games availiable for ver 7. Just that some of the games that wee coded for ver 4 haven't been coded to work ewith ver 7 yet. more and more are being coded daily.

:) What's the big beal about 30 miles. Nearest Corp. VZW store to me is 15 miles. 20 minute drive. If I had to drive 50 to the nearest Corp. VZW store to return a lost phone, I would :)

If you used NE2 BEFORE 05Feb06 you'll get one last NE2 credit of $100. After that it's based on your rate plan and what you pay for it.

Additional to my previous post. It may also be that you have the headset in too tightly, thus creating a "side-tone".

It's called side-tone. It allows you to hear yourself so you don't speak too loudly. All land-line phones have this. A good deal of cell phones have this as well.
Do you complain about this with your home phone as well? :)

Yes, you need VCast to get MOD. I, too have no EV-DO in my area. Drive 15 Miles and I have EV-DO.
You'll need VCast to get MOD because MOD is part of VCast.
It's advertised everywhere because VCast is availiable in most of large cities and areas outside of those cities by about 15-20 miles.
It's also availiable near most major highways.
Where towers may be located.

Only problem is that VZW is not using musicmatch to play .wma. Windows Media Player is the prog. that they are using.
10 min to flash the phone? Last I knew, it was more on the order of 30 min to 1 hour.
As to hoew to re-enable MP3.

Yep. You can now use the 8100 as a modem. Tethered of course. Not via Bluetooth, tho. Only with a cable. If you do do this, you'll need a data plan of $59.99 or higher.

I'd like to be able to keep MP3 capabilities as well as add .wma or whatever it's going to be called. I don't use my phone as an MP3 player. But if I do, I'd like it to do as advertized. This, IMO, may lead to another suit.

I have heard that it's both. M$ and VZW. Last I knew, there was a way to get MP3 functionality back. BUT that may NO LONGER be the case. Everyplace I see posts about this - ie www.howardforums.com, www.phonearena.com, www.mibiledia.com and www.wirelessadvisor.com- I take the information with a grain of salt. Until I see CONFIRMED information on this I WILL NOT be updating to the latest version of the firmware.

You can vote with your feet or, in this case, your wallet and leave. NO ONE is forcing you to stay with VZW. If you don't like what they have to offer, pay the ETF if you are still in contract. If out of contract and on a month to month cancel the service and leave.
