Re: A New Bill is the end for verizon?
I think it's a Verizon customer who's frustrated with his carrier for locking out the phone and then tries to see if he could activate a Sprint phone on his plan only to find out he couldn't.
Re: Sprint - Deception to Increase Revenue
After reading all the posts, I pretty much concluded this. The application you downloaded, just like Tetris is technically unlimited. However, it does require network access every few months to be able to be runnable. Nowhere in the description was network access even noted. So yes, I will acknowldge that you have been misled in this matter. You are entitled to the full refund of your purchase as well as credit for any data charges.
Now, from a realistic point ...
Re: Like to break the law, get a Sprint phone.
Read the article. The reps whom the authorities dealt with didn't do what they were supposed to. Blame the reps for that, not the company.
Re: Ummm..do I dare say...Should I switch from Sprint?
Try using your Sprint phone in Colorodo and see how it works out.
I don't know why it's different for you, but I never had to wait even 10 minutes for a rep.
The two year upgrade policy is not much different than most other providers (T-Mobile is an excpetion).
No one will even come close to how great a plan you have so you're taking a big hit if you're switching. The no-roaming feature is only $5 per month.
If it turns ...
Re: Programming a Korean CDMA phone for Verizon w/ESN
Sorry, but Kiev is only GSM. Been there myself so I know what I'm talking about. ;)
Re: Reason for WMA requirement for Vcast Music
You're the most childish fanboy I've ever seen on these message boards.
Re: Class Action #2!!!!
Ughhh.. WMA. Verizon is becoming less and less Mac compatible for me, unlike Sprint.
Only being able to play WMA files is the kind of crap you're going to have to deal with if your provider gets in bed with Microsoft. And Microsoft these days seems to be all about DRM. At least Apple publically stated they don't like using it as evident by their most lax DRM scheme and them not suing the creator of JHymn (FairPlay DRM stripper).
Not ...
Re: Regarding This Post
It IS all relative. I 2 lines with Sprint and one with Verizon and if it weren't for the fact that I have an amazing plan with Verizon, I'd drop it by now. The other Sprint line is my dad's whom I switched over FROM Verizon due to price savings. The service they provide is no better than my Sprint service. In fact, I prefer the latter because they don't cripple your phone anywhere near as much. Talk to ...
Re: Calling all techies!!
There are some Treos that are known to have this issue of randomly shutting off. The only solution that I've seen work is just getting it swapped.
Re: Sprint - Deception to Increase Revenue
And a month ago I told you how you can log onto Sprint.com and request a refund if you're not satisfied. What else do you want?
Re: Amazeing
Ok, if you're gonna compare the two, at try posting at similar price points and state facts. Sprint IS cheaper. First off, at least Sprint offers a cheaper plan. Not everyone uses the average amount of minutes and you'd be surprised how many senior citizens ask for the 29.99 plan.
For Sprint:
34.99 = 400 minutes
Unlimited N&W @ 9.
No roaming.
$5 for every 50 minutes you go over.
$69.99 = 800 minutes for 2 lines
unlimted M2M
everthing else is the same as above
So, yes, ...
Re: OBEX
I wouldn't doubt they'd do something similar to Sprint where you would buy it from your phone and have a lower quality version download to your phone and have the ability to get the full-quality WMA (Read: DRM'd) version for your PC.
Re: Go with Sprint...Verizon SUCKS!!
molsky99, as a fellow Sprint user, let me recommend you to just shut up. You're doing a great job of making us Sprint users look stupid. I'd rather not be affiliated with the likes of you.
Seriously, get your facts straight and don't speculate on anything since Verizon hasn't even come out with so much as a price point for their service.
Re: Go with Sprint...Verizon SUCKS!!
Sprint's EV-DO map is not updated as often as it should. I get EV-DO coverage virtually the whole way from Boston to Worcester, MA with only a slight, few second 1x blip near Framingham. Does the coverage map reflect that? Not really. And from from Worcester to Fitchburg, MA it's nearly completely built out. Coverage map doesn't reflect that either.
They're expanding at extraordinary speeds. I won't say it's bigger than Verizon's, but it's more than sufficient for me. ...
Re: Samsung Phones--Sprint Priority?
But now you're totally forgetting about things like subsidizing handsets. Not everyone feels like paying full price for a handset. Besides, Sprint and Verizon are different enough to not make that possible. Sprint uses J2ME and it's own multimedia delivery system and Verizon uses BREW and VCast.
Re: Update on the cellphone eating girl

Re: Can I use wireless conection to my Laptop?
Bluetooth itself is the bottleneck. It's limited to about 30-35k. With the tethered option, I usually download an average of 70-100kbps.
Re: More Iden?
There's only one place that I've read that the government was buying the iDEN network was sprintpcsinfo.com. There are a few other places, but they quote the same article. Not that I'm saying the information is wrong, but a few more sources and details would be a lot more useful and make the whole store sound believeable.
Re: About time!
The end of the affiliate era as we know it...
Re: Wasn't Sprint in financial trouble not long ago?
Purchasing Nextel was a STOCK transaction, not a CASH transaction. Big difference. They were in debt, but were actually doing a good job climbing their way out of it. Nextel might of had debt when they were purchased, but, from what I understood, they were operating completely in the black. I'm sure the merger gave Sprint Nextel a bigger credit line should they need it.
Re: How to switch out of the Sprint service to another carrier
Ha ha, good answer!
Anyways, people have a hard time believing it, but there is a purpose to contracts.
Re: Direct Numbers
Well... umm... it wouldn't be such a bad thing if I didn't have a latino girlfriend. I'd be careful if I were you; they get pretty jealous!
But anyways, the Nextel number would be great!
Re: Direct Numbers
a little birdie told me it was 1-866-306-7056... Just don't abuse it. Call the regular customer service number if you can.
Re: Just a thought
Chicago used to be one of Sprint's worst markets. But in the past few years they've dropped so much money into that city that it got some kind of award for being the best in the city.
Re: FINALLY....Cingular HSDPA is active!!
yes, I know 8 bits = 1 byte. That's why the data confused me. Added to that was you mentioning latency times, which I couldn't tell if it was included in the test.
Re: Looking for MIDP 2.0 enabled CDMA Phones
Problem is is that you can't install non-Sprint MIDP 2.0 applications onto a Sprint phone. Wait, scratch that, you can certainly install, but many of the MIDP 2.0 specific API calls will cause your application to suddenly quit because that application does not have a VeriSign Java Level 3 Certificate that costs $400 to developers. I believe non-Sprint apps can't access the Java 3D, Bluetooth (not even sure if Sprint phones themselves support it), PIM (aka contacts), multimedia (playing ...
Re: You dont know the answer, you don't know the answer...
Or if you like EV-DO/CDMA, Sprint is an option. They don't lock out the treo 650 much either, to my understanding.
Re: FINALLY....Cingular HSDPA is active!!
I'm confused because I got results completely off from yours, I think. I tested my Sprint 940 (EV-DO) in a mall at 8:30 pm and got a result of 1049503 bytes per second and 8396 kilobits per second using numion.com. Is that accurate? I'd post a screenshot if I could if it seems bogus.
Re: Excellent Subscriber growth for NXTL, NXTP, AND BOOST!
Way to go digging a post up from the grave!
Re: Content Help Please - Was I mislead?
Ok, I've read this whole thread and I'm going try to answer your questions as best as possible. I'm "qualified", as you put it because I was a previous owner of the LG MM535 for 3 months and had Sprint Vision service since it was first ever introduced.
The rep may have something different in mind when he said what he said. More than likely he was either not knowledgeable or he wasn't technical enough for you to specifically get ...
Re: Sprint Tightens the Noose
Then why make a product with features there is no need for? This seems highly counter-intuitive.
I'm sorry, I think you miss understood me. I meant there shouldn't be any need to use the memory card for game/application storage. The card is designed for other uses such as photo and media storage. The phone comes with enough memory built in to not need a secondary storage device.
How did you acquire these? Did you have to purchase each one ...
Re: to nextel18
You're missing the point. Saying 50+ million is just ridiculous. First, there's all the customers who recently bought a phone and don't feel like buying another one for a while. Second, not everyone will want a PTT phone. Third, of those who do, the amount of people who will want to have PTT feature will not by the same as those who are capable of having it. Forth, of those who would want it, they would have decide if ...
Re: to nextel18
Dude, you're funny.
50+ million customers? Try virtually none. Think about it.
Over time, things may change. Cingular's PTT will either be successful or it will flop. It's really complicated when you try to analyze it so I'm not going to bother. All I will say is that Cingular will not topple Nextel, at least not in the next several years to come. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either stupid or knows a strategy we haven't heard about.
Re: Sprint Tightens the Noose
What kind of interface does your company use?
Re: Sprint Tightens the Noose
The LG MM-535 has 20 Megs of built in memory. There shouldn't be a possible need to use the memory card. I had over 40 games (no joke), 10 applications (including a 1.5 Mb one) as well as some ringers and screensavers. And I didn't even use half of the phone's memory. Besides, trying to run an application or game off a memory card is just stupid because you'll lose porocessing power and time just reading off of the ...
Re: Which phone?
The 9000 all the way. I currently have the Samsung 940 (Also a great choice if you haven't already considered it) and EV-DO is just amazing. You'll find the browser in the 940 a bit faster, though, than the 9000.
True, the miniSD may support 1Gb whereas microSD (TransFlash) is limited to 512Mb, but a 1Gb version is being developed now. Besides, who really needs THAT much memory for a cell phone? Don't choose your phone over a memory card ...
Re: "unlocking" vz treo to sprint...?
Not possible. Sprint has a database that keeps track of what ESNs are valid. The average tech isn't even allowed to see it, much less activate it. If you try to give that ESN of the Treo to them, it's gonna come out invalid.
EV-DO and ReadyLink
Has anyone tried the ReadyLink between two Sanyo 9000s? The speed, for a ip-based PTT solution, is incredible. The connect was only marginally slower than Nextel and once connected, was almost instantaneous.
Definitely beats Cingular's initial 7 seconds initial connect! (And yes, I tried it)
Re: Choose Sprint?
1. If you are roaming, does your internet still work?
No.
2. Is the Vision internet really the internet, or a version of T-Zones?
Full internet.
3. Does their 650 have the same problems as Cingulars?
I'm not sure what problems the Cingular model has, but be expected to see your phone restart for no reason once in a while. And don't be too surprised if it crashes. If it happens frequently, then there is a problem and I'd get it swapped out ...
Re: where is sprint in terms of reception?
I personally think it's great. Where I work at now (Leominster, MA) Sprint actually dominates this area and is better than Cingular and Verizon.
T-Mobile has the smallest coverage area of all the providers (except maybe Nextel).
It really depends on where you live. If I were you, I'd activate a Sprint phone and take advantage of their 14-day trial. Activate the phone with a new number and if it works out, call customer service and have them port your T-Mobile ...
